Considerater
NEWS
v1.3.0: Incorporated a more comprehensive approach to default profiles.
If you wish to use the new default profiles, you can flush your profiles and get all the new default profiles by typing
/consider resetall
and then visit the bank to rescan all your items. Remember to set your active profiles again in the options. This will also destroy any custom profile changes.
v1.2.0: Performance enhancement to improve framerates in certain situations.
v1.1.0: Added checkbox for "Use Epic Gems?" in Considerater option panel. When toggled, Considerater will fill in the top-scoring epic gems where applicable.
Upgrading users are advised to type "/consider refresh" and visit their bank to re-score their items.
Considerater
An add-on that considers an item against all the items you have to determine whether or not it is an upgrade. Scores are computed for an item based on profiles which weight each stat according to relative importance.
There are many pre-defined profiles, which can be edited, or you can create a new one. To avoid taking up too much compute time, only "Active Profiles" will be used for scoring. See the Add-on Interface Options panel for all these details.
Considerater will scan your bank, bags, and inventory whenever you open your bank frame. So if it is your first time loading it, be sure to get to the bank to fill up your item cache.
Considerater will automatically determine the best gem choices according to each profile and will score items as if they had those gems inserted. This should make comparisons between pieces of gemmed and ungemmed gear relatively fair.
Type "/consider help" in game to see the command-line options.
Type "/consider" alone to bring up the Considerater graphical user-interface for comparing items.
Type "/consider [link]" with an item linked to add that item to the list of items considered by the graphical user-interface.
The idea for this add-on came about when I started re-specing my character on a nearly daily basis between four different playstyles. Each requires different sets of gear, and it was getting difficult to remember what I had in my bank and what was considered better for each spec. I relied on the useful website LootRank.com, but I needed something that would be able to quickly make comparisons on the spot, and only with the gear I had or was considering. So, I would consider this add-on to be a combination of ideas from LootRank.com and add-ons like BankItems.
I've leveled a hunter to 10 and managed to reproduce the problem. It occurs when I mouse-over an empty slot in the pet spell-book. I'll see what I can do.
Haven't been able to narrow it down more as I've seen it occur only under the two noted conditions. And I don't have time/stable space to tame a new pet. Will see if it happens again when I next level.
Do you even really need to use LibExtraTip? Many (many) mods provide tooltip info to the default tooltip, as Considerator does. But they do so without extra help from libraries like LibExtraTip or TipHooker/LibTipHooker. Its often not really needed to use those (or other) helper libraries for the tooltip info a mod provides. Sure, it can provide author convenience, but there are always chances of those libraries bugging out and/or conflicting with other things.
Hope you are able to fix the problem. The mod is great other than this bug.
I certainly hope so!
Not sure. Sounds like a LibExtraTip bug. I will see if I can manage to reproduce it. Does it happen when you mouseover a spell? Also try turning off tooltip augmentation in the options and see if that changes anything.
On a mid-level hunter, opening up the pet talent frame after a stabled pet had leveled or after taming a new pet (and then spending its talent points), the mod will throw an error. Been happening fairly frequently since v0.8.1beta was released. The hunter is the only character I have this enabled on. And the error message (below) is always the same.
Using v0.8.1beta with standalone, updated libs (except for embedded LibExtraTip), USEng client/server, WoW 3.0.3 live.
The error (which again is always the same): Considerater-0.1\\libs\\LibExtraTip\\LibExtraTip.lua:607 GetSpellInfo(): Invalid spell slot\nConsiderater-0.1\\libs\\LibExtraTip\\LibExtraTip.lua:607 in function <string>:\"*:OnEnter\":1: in function
If I have some time I'll take a look at it. It's definitely not game-breaking, so for now I'll either just take a deep breath and say 20 isn't that far from 20.1--or I'll just keep editing the saved variables.
But What Do The Numbers Mean When It Says
Best In Profile: Death Knight Tank (204)... what are the numbers?
The assumption is that an item with a better score is also a better item for you to use, because the score is computed by multiplying the item stats with some selected weights and summed together. Therefore, items with better stats should get better scores. There is nothing more to it than that.
I know what you're saying. The problem is that I use AceConfig[Dialog] which is pretty high-level and I'm not sure how to include fine-tuning controls in addition to the generated slider. Perhaps it can be done in a separate panel.
I'm very impressed so far. Pre-3.0 I was using SmartFitter, and I have to say Considerator has a much cleaner interface and generally less bloat. My main concern is the sliders for stat-weighting; they're a little unwieldy for making fine adjustments (for those of us who are a bit retentive about our formulae >.>)--would it be possible to add a control for finer adjustments? an editbox would be ideal, although up/down buttons or just a longer slider would do the trick as well.
However, I have my own weightings I've been using by hand previously, and I removed all of the default profiles to insert my own. Even though they're removed, I can still see all of the default profiles on the comparison screen. Why?
Thanks for the report.
I look forward to the next beta. Great work, keep it up.
I'm still waiting for WoWAce to start syncing again. Apparently the maintainer of the website went on vacation and Murphy's law kicked in.
