Critters

Table of Contents

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

What is Critters?

Critters is the answer to the question of "How do i chose a Pet Companion out of the all the once i have".

So how does Critters accomplish this?

Create a global macro called Critters
assign a random critter to the macro
each time we summon a critter we reassign a random critter to the macro
in the options you can set a priority for each critter so that your favorite one shows up more often
also optionally you may have the macro switch to a combat macro during combat

any suggestions or improvements are most welcome please open a ticket about them.

If you are looking for a replacement for this, try Guppet. It supports mounts too and has a lot of features.

I don't know if this is abandoned, but the critter weight feature isn't working. Guild Page was set to 0, but was still auto-summoned last night when entering an instance.

The Albino Snake currently available from Breanni in Dalaran currently doesn't show up in the options to allow me to set a preference. I tried adding it to my Critters saved variables by hand and that didn't work either.

I realize it has been a year since this addon has been last updated and that it works well, but i was wondering if there were any plans to use the coding of how mounted works now and add it into the critters addon?

May be out of the scope of this addon since it just makes a macro but I thought I would throw it out here anyway.

What about an option to dismiss pet when stealth or shadow-meld is cast. Not very stealthy to have a pet following you around.

suggestion....add in Mounts, to randomly summon a mount of all known mounts, be able to adjust the randomness as for the pets. even if it uses a different Macro, allowing for the original, BC, and WotLK mounted areas, flying and ground

Hi!

I have a problem with special quest that need to summon an item (like totem, flag or other things like that)
I use the item to summon the objects, but just after summoning the item, critters change my pet and the item disapear.
So I can't do my quest with the add on. I must log out, disable it on the wow interface and log in my characters to complete my quest.

Please help :)

I am having the auto summon problem on my hunter also, no other toons, i think it may have something to do with alrdy having a pet? and of course my hunter is my toon who has the skunk and 54 other pets :P

I am having a problem with the auto summoning of critters. I use this mod across a few characters but it's not auto calling on one of them, my hunter even though I have the option enabled to do this.

Any Advice on how to fix this?

I have 55 pets, various different types, there are no error messages. After observing it alot more, its abit hit and miss when it does call them, if i portal to org it will summon automatically, or zone into an instance occasionally, but if i log in it wont auto summon. I can't really be sure why its not, i do have kindred spirits, that may interrupt the summoning as its a buff.

found a much more elegant solution to the spell vs token issue no more blacklist you can use them all (as long as you learned them)

also if you have critters that need reagents these will only be chosen if you have the reagent on you (WARNING if you only have critters that need reagents and you have no reagents this will cause an infinite loop which i will fix later :P)

alright version 1.0.6 will prevent critters being used if an item of the same name is in your bags

if you have problems with the macro where the icon has a 0 in it then you the critter token (the one that you use to learn the critter) in your bag in addition to already knowing the critter this will create a conflict so make sure to get rid of the extra tokens in your bag

yes!!!!1!!! I love it!
This is exactly the addon I was craving after I got spoiled by Mounted.
only thing I can think of to improve it is adding a simple /critter command to bring up the menu.
