plz update this nice Addon
Updateeeeeeee
Gagorian, Kudos to you for having kept this project alive all this time, tbh i thought it would die after the last expansion but it came back stronger than ever! This addon has been one of my favs when it comes to figure out the very best rotation and so on, however, i am sure people will learn to live (play) without it too :) I will take this oportunity to thank you for all the hard and time consuming work you have put into this project Gagorain and wish you all the best in the future. I will also say that i do agree 100 % with Rhynox`s posting and also hope that some programming wiz will pick up this addon and continue the good work.
Again thx dude :)
Thanks.
What about a "DrDamage Continued", I guess Gagorian would have no problem with that and Gongolosky can be the Project Manager there. For my part, I would love to see this addon to be continued, too, but I guess before reaching Level 90 it's not that important. So if Gongolosky is the one to spend so much time in this addon, it would be great, but give him the time that is needed, DrDamage should never become a Full-Time-Job.
I miss this addon very much hope someone can make it work again ...
Hello everyone,
I've already stated earlier that I don't have an active subscription and in fact I haven't played the game actively for several years. I've still tried to update the addon but every expansion means tons of changes and tens if not hundreds of hours of work. Every ability and talent for every class needs to be coded separately and tested with different talent specs. While the coding can be done without an active subscription, testing for accuracy still needs to be done in-game. Earlier I've been able to do this by using friends and their chars as a maximum level character of every class is needed, now even those friends have stopped playing the game. I'm currently working a full-time job and thus my time is quite limited, the remaining time I prefer to spend relaxing. Paying the subscription amount for several accounts on a game I don't play isn't that attactive either.
I'm thankful for all the praise for the addon and it's nice to see people consider this an essential addon and I'd like to see it kept up to date since I've put so many hours into it. During the last expansion I put in a lot of work to get it up to date and I decided that it was probably the last expansion update from me. Ideally I'd like for someone with the dedication and coding skills required to take over the project but everyone who has been interested to help in the past have disappeared after a while. I've spent hours and hours of time teaching these people the inner workings of DrDamage, but eventually it seems like the addon is just too complex for someone to take over without the proper dedication to the project. I'm thankful for these people trying to help, but in the end nobody has been able to fully take over the project. Due to this reason I'm a bit skeptical of handing this project over to anyone since I might just end up wasting more of my time. With that said if a suitable dedicated coder would be willing to take over the project I'm up for negotation in the matter, but if it's going to be just a few band-aid fixes here and there then I'd rather let this project die. Unless the addon is kept up to date and accurate then it's pointless. I can be contacted by private messages, but I'll most likely only be able to read them during the weekends.
Regards,
Gagorian, author of DrDamage
Hello collegue!
Excuse me if it's too straightforward speech but I understand the situation and your circumstances deeply. May I ask you a couple of questions? Do you enjoy your job so much? How much time would you need to update it for Pandaclysm (in hours)? What does your hour cost? Please consider calculating the value of the update. You can divide it by a number of interested players.... I'm sure you will have much more money than you need. I would pay a lot as well.
Thank you in advance.
It looks like he dont care anymore .. :(
I offered a donation to get some subscription time but no response ...
The last time Gagorian loged on was aug 25th 2012 , we can try to send him messages via curse or the porject page at curseforge to ask if he will add Gongolosky to the project so he can update in his stead.
I really hope that there will be an update. I miss this addon :(
Good morning everyone.
I thank all those who have written to me privately to give me all their support.
But I would like to point out once again that, without the personal permission of Gagorian ... I CAN NOT MAKE PUBLIC changes to DrDamage's add-on. I can not do that even in a private.
I'm really sorry, but to be fair to the author I do not allow me to affect his rights.
In addition, with the new patch 5.0.5, other small new problems have arisen.
DrDamage is an add-on extremely complex and, even if I were to publish my changes, the add-on will not work perfectly.
Many new spells and talents must be "built" from scratch, as well as the whole part about the Monk.
I repeat: without the express permission of the author (Gagorian) I can not make public changes to his add-on.
Gagorian does not have an active account for World of Warcraft actually, but he can read these pages without problems.
Seriously...with as many downloads as ths thing has had I dont understand, Can we atleast get an update to tell us if the author is given up or working on it?
The author doesn't have a current subscription. He posted about a week or two ago mentioning this. I don't think he realized how much players have come to depend on his addon.
Somebody fix this thing we all need it NOW
Hello people.
So ... I just finished reviewing the DrDamage's code.
From the first (and very short) tests, it seems to be working quite well.
The problem occurs with the new spells and abilities of the new (and lousy) system of talent. In fact, some spells and some talents are not "seen" by the add-on
In addition, the new class "Monk" is all to do from the beginning.
If Gagorian will give me permission, then I will post the link to download the add-on as well as I am using it now.
I do not want to arrogate to me no honor and no respect; I'm just trying to put a remedy (temporary) to your requests.
I was able to replace the changed APIs and get to stop crashing too. But as far as being accurate to the new changes? I would guarantee nothing. I can do code, Lua is a strange beast to me though.
I tried creating a project on WoWace for it, but since it's a fan patch they said no.
Yeah, and Monk is of course MIA.
I can try to help if we get permission....
What are you using for coefficient Gongolsky?
