It is literally impossible for an addon to cause this because of constrains from Blizzard's side. They can't interact in any way outside of WoW AND addons are loaded AFTER you log in to game. So look elsewhere.

This is true. Its all .lua files which are only read by the wow addon sandbox engine. No addons should come as an executable .exe .com etc If they do then they are highly suspicious and not to be trusted at the very least.

Most of the time what I see is people getting their browsers hacked by going to websites. Even if the site itself claims its safe, the advertisement space it sells - if that is sold to someone with malicious intent then you can get attacked by the banners/advertisements as well.

Last but not least, purchasing mmo gold will really attract their attention. Any amount of information you provide them will be used later.

Its a classic scam, sell something to you then steal it back because they know exactly what you have now. If you see anyone come to a gold sellers defense - what do they have to gain/profit by it?

Nothing.... that is unless they are a company schill and a gold seller themselves.

On the 21st of august I downloaded this addon, first e-mail from blizzard saying I needed to authenticate my account because it's been trying to log from different IP's.. I authenticated.. kept playing, on 23rd of august, Got hacked everything I owned was sold. explanation? downloaded GatherMate and GatherMate_data, installed on the 21st of august.

Been playing for two years and it's never happened to me to be hacked by an addon that came from curse.com download manager. This thing has a keylogger or something but don't download, maybe its recent that's why 2 million people has it, but it happened to me and it can happen to you, I don't care what other people say.

Ok let me ask you one little thing did u read a link in this part of any addon forum it could of even been with another addon you were interested in

What the forum post could of said was this you may be interested in this automatic mining addon if so and u downloaded it and ran it that is how your wow account got hacked as it is a password stealing trojan

Also you may be interested in this site here to help you maybe verifie certain files you download it has a limit on the size that you can check which is 20 megs it uses over 40 virus scanning engines it is not a virus scanner to scan a computer but what it does this it will check to see how safe it is by using more than one virus scanner

All I can say is buy a authicator other wise you may get caught even using wow heroes website for gearscore will do it as it is a popular for gold farmers to hack there server and plant a nasty script that will download a file and then run the file without you knowing it the more popular a site is the more of a target it become

Awesome addon!
It seems that a lot of nodes are missing in Hellfire Peninsula. Dreamfoil and Mountain Silversage are not even in the data. How is this possible? There are tons of those in there. Has been ever since BC came out. What's up with that?

Well .. GatherMate isn't illegal.
Recognized that many people saying they got hacked after they installed GatherMate.
Using it without problems or getting hacked since the last update.

You won't see it in the addon-screen of WoW, cause this is only the datafile.
You need GatherMate where you can import the data of this file (sorry for my bad english .. it's not my native language)

Having some difficulties..
I have just downloaded this and it is in the addon file which is in the interface of my WoW folder, but the "Addons" button that is supposed to be in the lower left corner on the character select screen that the installation guide mentions is not there. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

in a herbalist and in dragonblight there are only a few herbs on my map i just updated the data and merged them but the frozen herbs are not showing up
