GearGauge
A tool to appraise, estimate, or judge your equipment and the equipment of others.
GearGauge assigns values to equipped items for an overall rating based upon the difference in character and item levels, whether or not gems and enchantments (if applicable) are applied, and any bonuses which are supplied.

any chance on updating this to 4.1
The only thing I would like to see, which may seem vain, is my own character's rating and gearscore - Even though I have someone's ratings, it would be nice to be able to compare myself to them to actually see how useful they would be in a raid.
Great addon though been waiting ages for something like this; keep up the good work!
If you are worried about the amount of memory usage there are configuration options you can change - you can set the minimum and maximum level to 1 since I doubt you'll be targeting many level 1 players. You can also set the expiration time for records to be one day, so that any you may accumulate will be flushed after 24 hours. Really, though, I tried to be as memory-conscious as possible: with 300 scanned players GearGauge is using only 1.5MiB of memory - which has no effect on CPU usage or heat.
The intent was for everyone involved in raiding - raid leaders will have a quick way to check the rating of everyone in the raid, and raiders will know if their equipment meets the minimum rating as set by the raid leader.
I don't know what you mean by "I just don't want to have to enter every single rating point for every char and purpose." If you mean that you don't want to type individual ratings for every piece for equipment, you shouldn't have to - they're all added into the overall rating, which is what raid leaders should be using to determine if someone is "ready" for a particular raid instance. The individual ratings are simply for you to gauge which pieces of equipment are more important to upgrade.
I appreciate the help with the German localizations. Thank you!
Hi Torhal, this surely is far from being a lightweighed addon due to the whole lot of saved data, so would you just recommend it for raidleaders? I am asking, because I actually am looking for a really good smart and fast addon, that rates my own chars' gear before undergoing an equipcheck in the middle of Dalaran. On the other hand the saved data of only my own chars is not such a load, which helps my cpu from overheating. I tried out other addons, that were supposed to do some sort of gear rating, but I deleted them as soon as I tried them out ingame. I just don't want to have to enter every single rating point for every char and purpose. The only thing I want, is to know whether my char is ready for Naxxramas or Ulduar or whatever dungeon, and also what exactly is missing to make a char ready for a certain dungeon. Do you think your addon meets my purpose? Anyways, I am impressed by GearGauge and it's contents, so I have already subscribed for updates, and will return more often to help out with the German localization. Greetings from Germany, Freydis88
The rating is based on the bonuses given for the piece of equipment - so if you have two Hunters with the same item, one with the higher enchant and one with the lower, the one with the higher enchant will have a better rating.
The idea was that it checks if there is the best enchant used. For example: Hunter Back +22 agi http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=60663
If there is only a weaker enchant it gives a lower rating or warning...
"BiS" enchantments?
As for the belt buckle - I'm undecided at the moment. Though if you have one and it isn't socketed, that will be shown.
The missing enchant feature is a great idea. Any plans to improve it? Maybe a check for "BiS" enchant, gems, belt buckle...
