GladiusEx
GladiusEx is an arena unit frames addon based on Gladius.
What's new
New features include:
- Party frames: support for showing frames for your own team
- Cooldown tracker: a highly configurable module for tracking all types of cooldowns
- Skill history: shows the icons of the last few skills used by the unit
- Alerts: makes the frames blink in a noticeable way during some configured events (including low health, auras and specific spells being cast)
- Pets: new module for displaying pet bars
- Interrupts: See the interrupts directly on your arena & party frames.
And the classic modules, most of which have been improved in various ways:
- Auras: now with more filtering options
- Class Icon: new display modes: by spec, role and portraits
- Cast Bar: now shows which spells can't be interrupted
- DR Tracker: track the diminishing returns timers on both the enemy team and your team. Now lets you select which icon you want displayed for every category!
- Health Bar: now displays incoming heals and absorbs
- Tags: configure every text to show exactly what you want, now with more built-in tags and improved performance
FAQ
How do I bring the user interface up ?
You can use the /gex slash command, or you can access the options from the addons tab in the interface panel.
Where did the trinket and the dispels modules go ?
They have been replaced by the cooldowns module, which now allows you to have several groups of cooldowns configured independently. By default, the trinket cooldown is shown in group 2 and a few other cooldowns in group 1.
What is that additional set of frames that I see ?
Those are the party frames. This is incremental functionality that will help you track not only your enemies but also your friends. If you use your own you can turn these easily off in the general settings. You can also disable only your own frame, but keep the GladiusEx party frames.
Is it possible to have text timers for the auras, cooldowns or the DR icons ?
The timer module has been removed, but this can be achieved with OmniCC or other similar addons.

I was wondering if it were possible to make the party frames enabled in normal groups so it isnt just arena? (personal UI involving symmetry)
I quickly looked through your .lua files but didnt seem to find the information to change this.

Posted Jun 2, 2013I do luv this addon, but i can not figure out how to get the click to cast spells to work? I went under arena/cliciks and set both left and rigth to /fear... ( i'm a lock), but the spells wont cast. i've messed with it as much as possible but cant get it to work. Any idea what i'm doing wrong? lol i'm sure if it were a snake it would bite me.

Posted Jun 2, 2013All you need to do is select the mouse button, set the action to "cast spell" and in the text box below type the exact spell name (as you would type it in a macro). If it is still not working after that, the most likely reason is that you didn't type the spell name correctly.
Also note that if you have Clique or a similar click-to-cast addon installed, it may be overriding the clicks module settings.
Let me know if that fixed your problem.

Posted Jun 2, 2013Yes i have done all that you said, the spell is fear so.. /fear :) Thats why i'm confused as to why its not working. i will try to disable all addons except gladius and see if there are some discrepencies but i dotn think i have any click to cast addons that i know of. Issue being its hard to test outside of an arena lol.

Posted Jun 2, 2013Also, here is what I do to test it outside of arenas. Make a macro with the following:
/run GladiusEx:SetTesting(false)
/run GladiusEx:ShowFrames()
/run GladiusEx:HideUnit("arena5")
Join temple of kotmogu bg, use the macro. You can then test the arena frames with the people who are carrying an orb.

This might be a silly question but is there a way to disable the following text on the frames: "gladiusex party/enemy anchor frame - click to move" (it shows even when not testing). I looked for it in the menu but couldn't find it.

edit: lock frames....dohhhhhhh :) would be nice if it's possible to disable the text without locked frames though :). Keep up the good work.

Posted May 23, 2013The anchor is only visible while the frames are not locked. Go to the options and check "lock frames".
Edit: admitely the anchor is not very useful now, I will consider removing it in the future.

Posted May 21, 2013Is there any way to turn off your own portrait in the party settings? Would prefer to have it set up to only show teammates healthbars and cooldowns. Ive got another addon I use for my own character unit frame (SUF) and target, therefor I have no reason to see my health and cooldowns (again).

Posted May 21, 2013What do you think it is missing to make it viable to replace your unit frame addon with this one (in arenas) ? I don't want to say that there is never going to be an option to disable the player frame, but I believe that having your entire party displayed in an uniform way is actually important (this is probably easier to see if you have healed in raids). But I am willing to be convinced that I am wrong.

Posted May 17, 2013It should only be active in arenas. You may be seeing the test frames, which are shown after logging in until you lock or move the frames (if you check the chat, you should have a message explaining that).

Posted May 11, 2013Hello there, great work! I love the addon so far, awesome work! I've just been wondering, is it possible to split the frames of the enemy cooldowns and party cooldowns? Meaning, all of their cooldowns grouped tightly into 1 frame , be it 3v3 or 5v5. I think it would be awesome @.@ ..
