Gnomish Yellow Pages

Table of Contents

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

The Gnomish Yellow Pages will monitor all chat traffic to identify people advertising trade skills. As trade skill ads are identified, they are recorded and stored for later retrieval.

type: /gyp

to bring up a window with all information in an easy to read table.

strangers names appear in white guildmates are displayed in green friends are displayed in yellow

anybody in your local zone is shown in cyan

all offline players are red

the row of trade skill buttons will access the entire database of trade recipes so you can search for whatever recipe you wish. click to open whatever trade skill browser you use.

when browsing a trade skill, selecting a recipe will cause gyp to update the trade link color to light blue if that recipe is contained in that link. also any searches in the trade skill browser will be reflected in the gyp link color -- links that contain none of the recipes returned by the search will be dark yellow; normal yellow links indicate that at least one of the recipes in the browser window matches the trade link.

Thanks, I will try that tonight.

I think I already upgraded to r58, but if necessary I'll delete my saved variables. I mostly use GYP to access the list of mats for a recipe.

It is a very nice addon, but first off i seem to be unable to delete entries. I can delete them but they don't vanish from the list.

Lately i seem to collect some spams as well and every time i tab out of the game and back in it starts to scan the names of the list which opens the who window.

i think i've seen that delete issue before. next update should fix it.

the who thing comes up occasionally, too -- usually if there's some heavy processing or maybe some other mod doing /who's as well. tabbing out might cause the client to stall, so that could be the issue you're seeing with who's.

you can turn off the auto-who updater in the options panel (or change the frequency of who calls).

This fires with GYP, Broker_channelwatch and Broker_altguild.

There hasn't been an update since Aug '09, any chance for any new features anytime soon? perhaps the ability to group by Guild/Friends List, Ability to remove individual listings, or only capture above certain skill levels, auto-remove after X days etc..

Love the adddon for what it does, but wish it had a few more usability features.

Also: Friends are not showing up in Yellow... (or is that only when they are online perhaps?)

you can delete with ctrl-x (drag selecting and deleting multiples also works).

hmm... not sure about the friends issue. could be only when they're online, i'll check.

i like the idea of sorting by player "type" (friend/stranger/guildmate). shouldn't be hard to add.

the scan filtering is something i've been meaning to add, too. just haven't gotten around to it.

i wanna add some syncing features as well (sharing lists with guildmates). unfortunately, i've got a bunch of stuff on my plate so development time is sorta limited at the moment...

you're using a version that's a bit old at this point (r51). update to r58 and see if that helps. that nil error is a known problem that should be fixed.

hm ok i switched to advanced tradeskill window and it works with that one

another question, i see people spamming links all day but the overview only shows me like 10?

can you see for certain that the links being spammed are not in your list? if you find one, try clicking it in the chat frame. if it doesn't open, then gyp won't record it. often after a patch, people spam bogus links because they've created macros with old data that is no longer valid. gyp validates links to make sure people are linking their own tradeskill and that the trade link is viewable.

i have noticed, tho, that the validation routine might cause some issues when many links are spammed at once. i'll be looking into that problem soon.

ah sorry i'm stupid ^^ i had one of the prof windows open and so it only showed links of this one tradeskill ;D thats why i only saw so few

oh sure. yeah, it disables recording while viewing a tradeskill because it uses the tradeskill api to validate the links. it should cache any links it finds while you're browsing a trade tho, so when you close they should be added...

the problem was more like htat it only had recorded that 10~ links for that profession, and i thought that would be the total links for all professions XD

are you referring to the search feature? cauldron isn't explicitly supported, but i can see if it's doing things differently. i rely on a standard blizz function to deduce which recipe you have currently selected, but it's not beyond the realm of possibilities that cauldron doesn't use that function.

This addon was abit hard to find. Found it via wowwiki.com just becouse the addon using one of the functions i was reading about :D
