Gnomish Yellow Pages

Table of Contents

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

The Gnomish Yellow Pages will monitor all chat traffic to identify people advertising trade skills. As trade skill ads are identified, they are recorded and stored for later retrieval.

type: /gyp

to bring up a window with all information in an easy to read table.

strangers names appear in white guildmates are displayed in green friends are displayed in yellow

anybody in your local zone is shown in cyan

all offline players are red

the row of trade skill buttons will access the entire database of trade recipes so you can search for whatever recipe you wish. click to open whatever trade skill browser you use.

when browsing a trade skill, selecting a recipe will cause gyp to update the trade link color to light blue if that recipe is contained in that link. also any searches in the trade skill browser will be reflected in the gyp link color -- links that contain none of the recipes returned by the search will be dark yellow; normal yellow links indicate that at least one of the recipes in the browser window matches the trade link.

yes, wim embeds libWho which recently (sorta recently anyway) started conflicting with gyp's who interface and causing the who window to open. i think i'll just have to go ahead and use libWho myself to avoid the problem.

wold like to see it sort out ppl that dont have the pattern you are looking for and for the scroll bar to work. otherwise it is a good addon

if you open your trade skill window and click on a trade skill, gyp will highlight the people that have that trade skill.

not sure why the scroll bar isn't work for you.

i do need to update this mod, but i've been kinda busy on other projects.

it should pretty much work under 3.3 the only issue is this new incompatiblity with libWho which i need to sort out. you can turn off the "update strangers locations" feature in the interface options in the meantime...

I'm getting all kinds of errors from GYP :(( I was looking forward to using but it even made WoW crash! Had to disable.

ok i've got a problem, it not givin me a error but i know its GYP doin it cause it only happens when i have GYP turned on, but when on it is constanly opening up the who list with this in its search: "n-Vleck" and just assuming that it's cause by gyp seems how it never happens when it's turned off.

gyp should intercept that who call so that it doesn't display on your ui. it's possible that another mod is monkeying with things as well which could confuse the issue. the who interface hooking scheme is kinda touchy.

you can turn off the auto-who system in the addon controls, but then you won't get updates one where people are located unless you manually update (do a /who yourself or double click the location value to force a /who).

I also have had some problems with this recently, but it's never happened before. For me it only happens when I try to do a fast scan with auctioneer and as a temporary workaround I have disabled auto update before scanning. Could you possibly add an option to temporarily suspend updates when the auction window is open and restart updating when it's closed again? I really love this add-on. :D

Seems to happen more now. However, disabling SpamSentry seems to fix it. Maybe the new version of that uses /who more?

this is really annoying, is this gonna get resolved anytime? heck this mod hasen't been updated in 8 months...

recap: gyp open up the who list with a name in the search of v-(name here)....the names that it is putting in ARE people that are in the gyp database as having tradeskills.

you can turn off the who updates in the options panel.

gyp used to work fine, but now some other mod is interfering -- i believe it's something to do with libwho. haven't had a chance to figure out why it's breaking gyp.

make sure you're using the r58 version. the problem you're experiencing is the link update process -- it will convert any trade links that may have changed with the new patch (like if there are new recipes that change the number or order of a trade skill). if it's still bombing on you, you can remove your saved variable file. it means all your saved links will go away tho, so hopefully d/ling r58 will solve things.
