Gnomish Yellow Pages

Table of Contents

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

The Gnomish Yellow Pages will monitor all chat traffic to identify people advertising trade skills. As trade skill ads are identified, they are recorded and stored for later retrieval.

type: /gyp

to bring up a window with all information in an easy to read table.

strangers names appear in white guildmates are displayed in green friends are displayed in yellow

anybody in your local zone is shown in cyan

all offline players are red

the row of trade skill buttons will access the entire database of trade recipes so you can search for whatever recipe you wish. click to open whatever trade skill browser you use.

when browsing a trade skill, selecting a recipe will cause gyp to update the trade link color to light blue if that recipe is contained in that link. also any searches in the trade skill browser will be reflected in the gyp link color -- links that contain none of the recipes returned by the search will be dark yellow; normal yellow links indicate that at least one of the recipes in the browser window matches the trade link.

Holy crap on a cracker batman! I've been fussing with guildcraft for months and finally tried this today. Amazing! So much better than guildcraft. Great job!!!

Just noticed that this doesn't have a Smelting tab at the top? Any chance for one? I always forget what it takes to make certain bars etc..

actually no. for some inexplicable reason, blizzard made smelting non-linkable. i have no idea why that is. same with runeforging, tho i can understand the thought behind runeforging not being available.

Thanks for creating this. Something I looked for a long time.
I can't wait for more configureable options like:
Minimap Button
Guild only list
Searchable items

i don't have a guild-only option, but you can toggle the display off the display of strangers with a right-click on the player-name header. in fact, most of those column headers have right-click filtering options.

i do really need to add mini-map button and fubar/ldb support (somebody has written a fubar module).

you can search for recipes by opening gyp and then using a tradeskill browser to find the recipe you want (gyp has convenient shopping lists of every recipe for every tradeskill to help facilitate this). select the recipe you want and gyp will identify everybody in your list that can craft that item -- the trade link will turn cyan for those with that recipe).

i want to add a wishlist that will make this quicker and also notify you when a new link comes thru with any of your desired recipes. the only difficulty is coming up with a reasonable interface to create the wishlist. i'd like to piggyback onto of tradeskill browsers rather than create something from scratch.

I have a lvl 1 alt that stores mats. Skillet isn't correctly tracking reagents on this alt and GYP is throwing this error if I try to open a tradeskill window.

does this alt have any trade skills? i think skillet might not like toons with no personal trades. try teaching this toon first aid or cooking.

i think i only track inventory with skillet when you open a frame, so since it's dying before the frame opens, the inventory won't track properly

That fixed the error, but the recording of alt inventory is still acting very weird.

Think I found the bug, looks like it's in Skillet. I'm using the r166 that you recently posted. It only seems to record the inventory for tradeskills that you open and also deletes any saved items for tradeskills you didn't open that login. I think the old Skillet actually tied into bank mods to track inventories, but I'm not entirely sure.

Another issue with the way inventory is being saved, it's only saving the inventory of items that are used in a tradeskill you have. So alts w/o say JC can't save all the gems they have stored in the bank.

Well I got a big bug, the sec i logg in i got an error and I cant press it away.
Its like an new error fram is stacking on the other and if I press cancle nothing happens...

yeah, sorry. i'm moving to the library version of the scrolling table lib (i was hacking it into gyp originally) and i goofed up the install. i just uploaded the version that should work... i think.

okay, the r55beta version SHOULD include all the necessary files. sorry for the confusion. there might be a few more bumps in the road as i move over to the normal version of libScrollingTable from my heavily hacked version...

Am I missing something, because no one has seemed to mention that when you first install this, it appears as though it's going to take days to scan. I sat in town for 2 hours and saw the "Alchemy" scan bar move a couple centimeters. How long is the initial scan supposed to take? And is there any way to speed it up? Otherwise, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. Thanks!

Well, after I posted the above, I logged back in and it seemed to scan at what I would call a normal speed and was done in a matter of minutes. I don't know why it was so lagged out before, but it seems to be ok after a relog now.

However, is it supposed to be where I cannot click on anyone's profession link in any chat channel or whisper? If I click on the link, it looks like it's trying to add it to the list, but nothing ever shows up. I cannot click on the one link that has showed up in the list.
