HealPoints
HealPoints is a healer gear benchmark addon similar to TankPoints for tanks. It is designed to make it easier for healers to choose the most optimal gear, balancing
- Intelligence
- Mana Regen
- Spirit
- Spell Power
- Crit Rating
- Spell Haste
It displays all your relevant basic stats as well as HP/sec
, HP/mana
, etc. for all your healing spells. It also displays a few more advanced benchmarks:
- PowerPoints: focused on healing output over a short period
- EndurancePoints: focused on healing output over a long period
HealPoints detects and supports all relevant talents and almost all set and equip bonuses.
You can view your current HealPoints by typing:
/hp calc
Your HealPoints, PowerPoints and Endurance points will also be displayed on your paperdoll.
If you have a LibDataBroker feed view (e.g. TitanPanel) then you will see:
- a feed containing your current HealPoints
- a tooltip showing the value of relative stats
HealPoints contains a calculator that lets you manipulate the basic stats and see how they affect your spells and overall healing efficiency.
Just a quick note. For some reason on my druid my +heal is not reporting at all, while it is on my shaman.
Okay, I just misunderstood how you handled PowerPoints then. Increasing it up to 60 (actually, 55) did start increasing the PowerPoints.
I'll be putting the knowledge garnered from this addon to use in Molten Core and Blackwing Lair this weekend. Hopefully it'll put me higher than usual on the ol' healing meters.
HP/cast (and all other calculations) are average values and includes criticals. Paladins often have 20-25% crit, so not including criticals would be wrong, IMO.
As for the powerpoints issue, there are three possible explainations:
1) You have so much mana already that you don't run out of mana in 1 minute chaincasting the spell chosen for powerpoints. If mana isn't an issue, increasing casting regen won't help.
2) +30 casting regen doesn't give you enough extra mana in 1 minute to cast more spells than you can without the extra regen. Powerpoints (using the default settings) only use your highest rank of either HL or FoL. As HL9 costs 660 mana and 30 casting regen for 1 minute only gives you 360 extra mana (30/5 * 60), the casting regen increase may simply be too small to matter for a 1 minute duration. Try adding 60 casting regen instead of 30 to check if this is the case.
3) There's a bug somewhere :-)
Based on my own testing (I have a 60 paladin as well), I'd say that 2) is the most likely explaination.
Good potential with this addon, but I've found a few bugs or things I don't understand. For reference, I'm a Paladin.
Flash of Light's HP/cast is off for me by about 30 points. The only thing I can figure is you're including criticals and this is the average "real" value? Or it's just plain bugged, not sure which.
My PowerPoints also isn't including modified Casting Regen. Increasing my Casting Regen/5 sec by 30 to account for Blessing of Wisdom doesn't add anything to PowerPoints.
Yeah, the difference between casterstats and healpoints is caused by healpoints including Spiritual Guidance. I'll update the tooltip to just read "+healing" as healpoints also takes stuff like brilliant mana oils into account.
With no gear equipped, HealPoints shows me at +35 to healing.

You'll notice that casterstats (lower left) says healing is +0 as it should be.
With gear equipped, calculation is still wrong. I have the ZG libram enchant to head, the +33 ZG enchant to shoulders, and set bonuses from ZG neck/shoulders and set bonuses from the Primalist rings. Bug image: http://www.warcraftupdates.com/imgs/healpoints_bug2.jpg
I have confirmed that the CasterStats numbers are correct and your figures are wrong. Double and triple checked.
I noticed my plus healing varies with my spirit... are you including my talents for Spiritual Guidance in this figure? If so, you may want to modify your tooltip to not say "from items" to limit confusion.
Currently, yes :-(
I've unfortunately not found a good way to compute power-/endurancepoints for heal-over-time spells yet. Druids get the short end of the stick on this one, I'm afraid, with only one burst healing spell (while other classes have 2 or 3).
I'm planning to have a go at it later, but I doubt anything will happen before next version is released.
Using Ver. 1.9 on my druid, I can force it to use Healing Touch Ranks 1 through 11, however, I cannot select Rejuv or Regrowth for either Endurance or Power options. The default option seems to use my Healing Touch Rank 11 spell for both power and endurance calculations. Is this how it is supposed to work for druids?
True. This is by design.
EndurancePoints is the amount you can heal in 5 minutes starting with 0 mana. Therefore increasing max mana has no inpact.
EndurancePoints is meant to measure the ability to regen mana and cast mana-efficient spells, while PowerPoints measure manapool and ability to cast powerful spells. So increasing max mana only improves PowerPoints and not EndurancePoints.
When adding max mana to the calculator, endurance points do not increase at all.
Yes and no.
Together, PowerPoints and EndurancePoints show how much you can heal in 6 minutes. With your talent build and gear, you'll heal more in these minutes by using Healing Wave and Chain Heal and not Lesser Healing Wave.
But that doesn't mean that LHW is useless, of course.
And with the soon-to-be-released 1.9 version, you'll be able to force HealPoints to use LHW for power- and/or endurancepoints if that matches your healing style better.
this means that two shamans with same build but with and without Totem Of Life are the same healing wise ?
Good, that sounds about right.
For Shamans, usually Healing Wave and/or Chain Heal is used for power-/endurancepoints so you'll see no change in these values as the totem only improves Lesser Healing Wave.
Also, the improved stats for Lesser Healing Wave looks about right.
Thanks for the help :-)
Tryed the version you sent me, now with and without anything change on total HealPoints:
Without totem: 95851 - With totem: 95851
The only changes I get are in LHW(6) column:
Without totem I get: HP/s: 837(837) HP/mana: 3.8(3.8) HP/cast: 1255(1255) Tot HP(-r): 23616(23616) Tot HP(+r): 24909(24909)
Equiping it on column LHW(6) I get: HP/s: 850(850) HP/mana: 3.9(3.9) HP/cast: 1276(1276) Tot HP(-r): 24003(24003) Tot HP(+r): 25317(25317)
I've sent you a link to a betaversion in a PM. Please check your messages :-)
- Which spell & rank is used by HealPoints for endurancepoints without Totem of Life? (check endurancepoints' tooltip)
It say: Chain Heal (3) / Chain Heal (3)
- Which spell & rank is used by HealPoints for endurancepoints with Totem of Life?
It say: Chain Heal (3) / Chain Heal (3)
- Which other stats displayed in the calculator changes when you equip Toten of Life and what were their old & new values.
Without totem on column LHW(6) I get: HP/s: 837(837) HP/mana: 3.8(3.8) HP/cast: 1256(1256) Tot HP(-r): 23634(23634) Tot HP(+r): 24982(24982)
Equiping it on column LHW(6) I get: HP/s: 851(851) HP/mana: 3.9(3.9) HP/cast: 1277(1277) Tot HP(-r): 24021(24021) Tot HP(+r): 25336(25336)
And I don't know if I was wrong or not but however trying tonight I don't loose point in Endurance but in Powerpoints:
Without totem: Powerpoint 39270 With totem: Powerpoint 28691
In the tooltip for Powerpoint I get: Without totem: Chain Heal (3) / Chain Heal (3) With totem: Lesser Healing Wave (6) / Lesser Healing Wave (6)
sidex, read the FAQ in Readme.txt, the endurancepoint issue is explained there.
But anyhow, in the next version you will be able to configure spells used for power- and endurancepoints yourself.
endurance points: I read you are using GHeal Rank5 as most efficient spell... This spell is not mana efficient at all. The most efficient is Heal Rank2 (and rank4 is most used in high level instances).
Using GHeal Rank5 is most important the "out of 5 sec rule". Using Heal rank2 is most important the in 5 sec rule.
It would be nice configure those spell by myself.
I had no idea this potion existed :-) I'll try to add support in the next version.
Is Healpoints supposed to support Mageblood potion? Other consumables seem to be taken into account properly, but I notice no change in Healpoints when I take Mageblood potion.
Great addon by the way. Thanks.
