Homing Digeon

Table of Contents

Tired of having to flip back and forth between the World Map and the Flight Map to find archaeology digs!?!

Homing Digeon provides a simple overlay to the Flight Map highlighting active dig sites and their closest flight points. With the lack of free-flight in Warlords of Draenor, Homing Digeon is invaluable for quick and efficient archaeological excavations!

As of v1.7, Homing Digeon has been updated to work with World of Warcraft client version 7.0.

@nickyjean01 - yep, it colours the closest flightpoint to each site with the yellow flight icon

Fastest flying is 310% and flight master is 360%, I believe. It's still faster to take flight points whenever they fall directly in between anyway.

Does this addon make the closest flight plans gold because they are now and I can't tell if it was this addon that did it or maybe archy. either way I will be keeping it.

Some dig sites are shown at a wrong position - For example, Ruins of Solarsal is shown just south of Stonemaul Hold, instead on Feathermoon Isle, where it actually is. Can you check into this?

V1.2.1 should be more accurate. If you continue to notice such irregularities, could you post a screenshot to the bugtracker at http://www.wowace.com/addons/homing-digeon/tickets/ ?

A suggestion:

The shovel icons are difficult to see sometimes, and are sometimes inaccurate compared the the flight points (or perhaps Blizzard places the flight points themselves inaccurately at times).

Instead of a shovel icon on the map, why not color the closest flightpoint a different color than the rest? For example, a light green or light blue? Additionally, add a popup text string that appears when mouseing over the colored flight point that says the type of artifact(s) that can be found there?

This way you avoid the issue of flightpoints covering up shovel icons, as well as innaccurate placement of shovels/flightpoints, and you can quickly see immediately where you need to go.

I've considered the 'closest flightpoint' idea, but haven't managed to figure out the code to get it working. Once I get a bit more time, I'll look into it again.

One other problem I have inherantly, also, is that the map for the flightmap is slightly different than the normal atlas where I'm getting the coordinates from. So there's a slight maladjustment in positioning that can't be easily fixed.

Looks like TomTom breaks this mod. The dig sites won't show up on the flight map as long as TomTom's enabled.

No error...nothing just shows up. When I disable TomTom, the flight map is back to normal and your dig sites show up.

I installed this just before taking a worgen to explore the Draenei and Blood Elf zones, but when I came out of them there were 6 to 8 shovels on the flight path map.

@tordenflesk : Sure, if you have epic flight, and don't mind flying into the void/trees/mountains/etc if you're an idleflyer... Direct flying to sites with slow flight is terribly painful.
