IdiotCheck
Have you ever charged into a boss fight, only to discover you're an idiot and forgot something crucial?
This mod checks your character and gear before boss pulls to make sure nothing is wrong, and yells at you in various humorous ways if you're being an idiot. It goes into considerable depth and checks many things not checked by traditional raid-buffing addons.
You might be an idiot if you've ever gone into a boss fight...
- With a broken weapon
- Wearing a fishing pole, chef's hat, or teleport item
- With a dead pet
- Without an enchant or gem on that new item
- Missing talent points or glyphs
- Wearing items for the wrong spec
- With glyphs for the wrong spec
- With a flask for the wrong spec
- Without your class self-buffs
- Much, much more...
All checks can be individually enabled/disabled and configured. By default it checks your gear when you first target a boss or receive a ready check. The addon itself is very lightweight and fast, and never runs during combat.
IdiotCheck can also automatically scan inspection targets and group members for most failures. Note that checking via inspection/scanning is slightly less thorough than self-checks, due to limitations in the Blizzard inspection API. This feature is provided as a convenience, but for the most accurate results all raiders should install the addon (which also helps ensure costly failures are discovered outside of raid time!).
Installation and Usage:
- Install as usual
- Left-click the icon to run a self-check manually
- Middle-click the icon to scan your current group members within inspection range
- Right-click the icon on the minimap or LDB for settings (defaults are good for most purposes)
- Command-line options are also available via: /ic

Warning about content:
This addon is essentially a drill instructor for your raid play. It works by yelling at you when you screw up, so that other players don't have to. This addon includes occasional use of strong language, which is not intended for children or other people who are easily offended. Do not submit complaints, we're not going to change it for you. If you are easily offended do not download this addon. Better yet, quit wow and go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

Its a great addon and I miss it very much!!
Pease patch the AddOn for 6.0 - PLEASE :)
I hope someone finds a fix for this for 6.0. I realised... far too late.... TWICE... that I desperately need this addon.
The addon needs alot of fixes to account for the 6.0 changes to the classes and character stats. I will definitely update the addon eventually, but it will probably be few weeks and I'll tune it primarily for level 100.
Good to know, and thanks for the update :-)
Love the addon, so please, please, please post an update for 6.0. It's very helpful to "blame" the addon when I whisper people in the raid about failures. :-)
Is there a way to set the minimum item level above 500? I tried typing it in, but it just set to the max allowed by the slider (500).
I am having issues with it on just warriors alone. It crashes when I try to check warriors.

How can I change the group scan/check from the middle mouse button to something else, such as Shift-Left-Click? I already have my middle mouse button assigned to another function and can't use it for this addon.
There's not currently a way to change that binding, but it should be unaffected by regular game bindings. A middle-click on the LDB icon should work correctly, unless you've rebound the mouse buttons in your LDB display addon (in which case you should probably restore the default for that, many brokers use the middle mouse button).
Thanks for the response.
I'm not using Titan Panel or any of the LDB display addons. My main UI addon is Bartender 4.
My gaming mouse's wheel button is assigned to the character S so I can back up quickly when necessary in combat. (The wheel button's tilt functions are assigned to Q and E for strafing left and right.) Since rapid, precise movements are so important in may of the current raid boss fights, this is something I'm not willing to sacrifice.
Would it be possible to add an option to IdiotCheck to allow reassigning the group scan/check function from the middle mouse button to some other combination, such as Shift-Left-Click? This would make the addon much more useful for those of us who don't use LDB addons, and/or who have higher priority uses for the middle mouse button.
Incidentally, my non-gaming mouse's wheel button isn't assigned to anything; it has the default behavior of making a small magnifiying glass when it is clicked, which allows zooming the current page (which I never actually do).
The non-gaming mouse gives me the same little magnifying glass when I use it in-game on the IC button next to the mini-map. I never use the non-gaming mouse in combat, so I am not sure this behavior is relevant, but I thought I'd mention it since it appears the IC addon isn't capturing this middle click correctly either.
Assigning a middle-mouse button keybinding via the blizzard key binding interface only affects its behavior when you click on the game world. Clicking on any other frame (addon or otherwise) still sends a middle mouse click. I myself usually bind the middle mouse to an action button, and just to verify I also tested with it bound to a movement function and got the same.
If you're seeing a "small magnifiying glass" when you click anywhere in wow, then that's probably your windows mouse driver (or possibly the accessibility support) substituting something else when you click that mouse button. I suspect your wow is not actually seeing a "middle mouse" click but some other mouse event. Check your windows mouse driver settings and ensure that mouse button is actually sending middle click.
Tried to paruse thru past Post did not see this and hope I did not miss it, if it has already been addressed. Idiot check is harrassing me on My Warrior about Not having a gem in a second Sha touched weapon in my off hand. Unless they changed it and I am not aware ,Sha touched gems are Unique, so a second sha gem can not be placed in the off hand sha touched weapon. I also have not completed the next phase that adds a Prismatic socket to the sha weapons.
Thanks
You are correct that you can only equip a single sha-touched gem at a time, which means if you're equpping two sha-touched weapons one must unsocketed. Consequently, almost any weapon of equal ivll would be a better choice than the unsocketed weapon, but I guess if it's all you have that might not be a uniformly Idiot choice.
Best solution for now is to disable the checkmark for "sha-touched gems" under the "Gear" configuration settings.
With paladin tier there's a problem. It shows Badstats for using hit gear and that gear dont have hit. Testing more.... btw, nice and usefull addon. We have many times someone with cooking hat or fishing pole, when doing rdycheck :)
I suspect this is a locale-related bug. Please post a ticket with complete information (including which locale you are using) here:

I love this addon first of all. But, there is one problem i encounter.
As I'm using the addon "InspectEquip", when i inspect a target, the information windows shown on the right of main frame overlap with IdiotCheck's. In order to clearly see the data, i have to cancel either InspectEquip's or IdiotCheck's window. if the goal is to see both addons stats at the same time, is there anyway to fix this problem? thanks.
i've made traditional chinese translation on http://www.wowace.com/addons/idiotcheck/localization/
please check. thanks.
Could you make this addon so its searchable on wowstead when you're trying to add it as a suggested or required addon for your guild to use?
I don't think there's anything I can do on my end to make this happen - this addon is already hosted on Curse and Curse runs Wowstead, I think they may just need to refresh the connection - see this post.
I don't have admin on any wowstead sites to verify if/when this is working, but I would recommend posting a report on their site forum explaining the problem you're having.
