Seeing how the developper seems to be AWOL, I've found a decent substitute for this addon.

It's called AudioProc, updated for 4.0. The sounds aren't as good, but if you copy the MageAlert sound files into the AudioProc folder, it works like a charm (you may have to rename some of the files, I haven't checked them all).

No flashing screen, but it'll do.

I can't seem to get the Mage Alert sounds to work with AudioProc. I made sure that AudioProc sound was on, and I deleted all of the old AudioProc sound files for the ones I wanted from Mage Alert. Do they have to be named the same name as the spell for it to work?

Yes, the name needs to be the samee. Also, MageNuggets has sounds now, so you can ignore AudioProc, if you use MN. Updating it seems to delete any custom sounds you move to the folder though, it's annoying.

Between the new Blizzard on-screen proc notifications and Power Auras, one could do without MageAlert. But I still want to use it for some of the sounds! I miss the sounds. Hope this gets an update for 4.0.1+ soon.

Any news on whether or not this will be updated for 4.0? WoW just isn't the same without hearing that sweet explosion sound when Hot Streak procs...

Is there anyway to turn down the volume (besides reducing the speaker volume) It's pretty loud and if someone is on vent I miss what they are saying. I don't want to toally turn off the message, just tone it down a tad.

i have a quiestion.
now, the flash and speech works fine, but
how do i remove the cast bar-like thing that appears on my character when my spells proc? i typed /magealert but none of the options helped????

not to worry, problem solved.
was just another addon.

I fixed this quite simply by changing the name of the FoF sound file in the interface/addons/magealert/sounds folder. just call it something else. so far has reported no errors.

BUG

version 1.2 and 1.3a

there is no way to disable fingers of frost sound. I had to alter the lua to make it work. Fingers of frost checks whether sound is turned on, rather than if fofsound is turned on. I would <3 if the next release had separate settings for each alert so that i could customize which procs flash, play sound, or both.
