Misspelled is a chat spell-checker addon. Misspelled watches the chat messages you type, highlighting any misspellings and offering suggestions for any misspelled words it finds.

I've included in the US & UK English dictionaries some Warcraft specific proper nouns, including the zone names, and all dungeon and raid boss names. Your friends and guild members are also automatically added, and shouldn't get flagged as misspelled words..Misspelled utilizes the HunSpell style, affix (prefix/suffix) compressed dictionaries. The same ones used in Chrome, Firefox, and OpenOffice. Misspelled provides suggestions based on words that phonetically sound like the misspelled word, along with providing suggestions based on common mistakes of spelling. While Misspelled can detect nearly the same number of individually correctly spelled words as OpenOffice, it's suggestion engine, is "somewhat" less complicated, than the HunSpell implementation.

Misspelled includes dictionaries for US-English, UK-English, French, German, Italian, Russian (experimental), and Spanish. The appropriate dictionary, for your game client locale, will auto-load, or you can manually choose what dictionary to use from Misspelled's Interface/Addons options page.

Misspelled works with WIM (Wow Instant Messenger), and is compatible with: Prat, Skinner, and Chatter.

Usage note: Spell Checking is performed as you complete each word you've typed. The last word in the chat box, isn't spell checked until you type some form of word terminator, either a period, space, or some other word separating punctuation. Spell checking is very fast; but isn't performed needlessly, while a word is being typed.

Misspelled is compatible with Wow, Wow Classic/Wrath/Cata If you are having problems with Misspelled, please try updating or disabling all other chat addons you may be running.

u should throw in color options for misspelled words. i know wow can change your text but i dont wanna go through all that trouble. just an idea.

Rather a sticky problem here: The default UI uses quite a large list of different color hues in chat. Linked items quality, professions, quests & achievements, channel colors (whisper/party/raid/guild/say/yell/general/XP). The only color hue I could locate that wasn't in common use was light-blue/cyan. Even that color is now kind-of in use, with patch 3.3 party-leader chat messages.

Bottom line, if I added the ability to change the color for misspelled words, whatever color you choose may, sometimes, be the very near the same color as some other colored chat text.

At least for now, the color I've chosen is the best compromise I could come up with.

Are you still planning to add a UK dictionary to your addon? I'm dying to try it but I don't want to be corrected when I type things like 'colour'.

Thanks for the poke in the rib. I've started pulling together the enGB dictionary. Hopefully it'll be tested and ready to deploy within a week. Some UK words contain Unicode characters, so Misspelled will have to use the slower Unicode search routines with this dictionary. I'm also including the same list of Warcraft proper nouns I added to the US English dictionary.

Is it just me, or is there no way to remove a word that was accidentally added to your custom dictionary, short of editing the saved variable file?

Can you add a feature to add a word a suggestion to the dictionary or remove? That would be very helpful for when the word you want isnt in there along with making it customizeable for the people who can want to add words that arnt in there. Please send me a message. Thanks

When you right-click a misspelled word, you can choose to add it to your personal dictionary. Words added to your personal dictionary are never again flagged as misspelled. Your personal dictionary is saved, each time you logout, and is unique per account. You have the same personal dictionary across all your characters. Personal dictionary location: <wow game folder>\wtf\Account\<account name>\SavedVariables\Misspelled.lua.

Does it have a non-US English dictionary as well? For those of us who are in Australia or the UK and like to spell things like colour honour neighbour etc?

The last thing I would want is for it to tell me to spell things the American way >_> =D

Currently US-English is the only flavor of English included. I'll work to add UK and Australian for you. Hopefully I'll get them added by mid Sept.

There is nothing you need to configure in either WIM or Misspelled. Version r35 and later, auto-detects if WIM is installed and integrates automatically.

In WIM whisper chat boxes, you should see misspelled words highlighted just like they are on the default chat box.

Make sure your using the latest version of WIM and Misspelled.

If you still have difficulty, there could be some other addon causing the integration to fail. As a test, try disabling all addons except WIM and Missplleed. Test and see if the integration works.
