mNameplates
Module based nameplates display addon.
Each module works on its own and can be disabled and enabled as you like. Later on theme support will be implemented, small addons that register a theme with mNameplates that can be applied on all modules at once.
Nameplates can be enabled and disabled for more in detail then just for friendly and hostile units. Some examples
- Don't show nameplates for NPCs that are hostile and are of normal or elite type, but show for bosses.
- Add names of NPCs (or players) that you do not want to see nameplates for.
Modules
- Health Bars
- Cast bar
- Name text
- Level text
- Health Text
- Health Percent
- Elite icon
- Boss icon
- Guild
- Name Filter
Under development
- Threat
- More...
Very dissapointed to see this addon isn't being updated for 5.4
Seems to be the only one to work the exact way I need it too, and as of right now it doesn't work at all for me. I can only assume it's due to the 5.4 patch.
Can this addon show the target of the enemy?
Great addon, but the nameplate's color pallete seems to be broken.
No matter how I try, I cannot get it to display the health *bar* color in anything other than shades of green. No matter where I drag the color selector, or the transparency bars, it only varies between 'black' to 'dark green' to 'forest green' to 'bright neon green'.
This is on any color at all...red, purple, fuscia, orange, yellow, etc. It only goes to different shades of green (apparently relative to how close the color selector is to the right side of the color cirlce).
Am I just missing something? I'd really like to set enemies to red and neutral to yellow, etc. Other things, like the level text and the cast bar text seem to work fine. Thanks for your work :)
I have tried this addon in 4.3.4, it worked so fine and was easy to use. But after i updated to 1.18 on 5.0.4, the WOW program will be terminated when i activated this addon. is there anyone has the same issue of me??
There are many name plate addons out there, some good, some bad - some slim and some bloated.
I've tried them all, and so far this is the only one that has did exactly what I wanted without leaking to 65mb, eating 30 FPS, or requiring college level courses on LUA to use.
Thank you.
(Should put the slash command for configuration up there somewhere though. =p)
Howdy,
was looking through the code and noticed the following:
I'm assuming you meant "player" not "plater"....
thought you'd like to know...
I love this addon, it's great, simple, and effective. The only issue I have with it is that it currently doesn't show threat levels. I know threat is posted in the "Under Development" section of the info, but what is the progress on it? As a tank I'm forced to turn off the addon for fights like Spine so that I can keep track of adds' threat.
P.S. You might want to put in your description how to bring up the options for this addon. It took me a while to figure it out. And i used the curse client to install so i never saw what it came with if there were instructions included.
Fixed it for ya!
Took me a visit to the Wowace site to find out.
My two requests are player names by class color. I know it was mentioned below that you would have to click or mouseover the player first to get that information, which would be fine by me! I have to do it anyway to get guild names.
My second request would be for NPCs that have titles in their names, like class trainers, quartermasters, etc, to retain those titles. Right now, when using mNameplates I just see the NPC name, not that it is a trainer or any other function which i might otherwise see if i weren't using nameplates.
My bug report is that my custom same-guild color isn't saving across sessions. no idea why. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful than that. It's a minor bug overall.
Thank you for this addon. It's fantastic!
A few requests for a future update:
- Mana Bars (if that's even possible within Blizzard coding)
- Debuff icons + timers (similar to TidyPlates, but with mN-configurability)
Right now I dont have any time to implement these things. But if I find time I may add them.
finded such bugs:
- "Max width" of name is working only when option menu is open
- Custom color of "Friendly players" after logout is always decreasing in brightness.
And let I say some wishes. may be its interesting you.
- It is very need (in your very good in potential mod) for diplaying class color of friendly players, and also for diplaying class color of hostile players not only in pvp-zones.
- it is need for Life Text format -maxLife-, aside existing -life/maxLife-.
The color I will check out whats happening there.
About class color for friendly players, it is not possible to know what class the player is from the nameplate. And it is not possible to know the class from the nameplate when you are not in a pvp zone I am afraid.
It would be possible to color them after you have either clicked them or had the mouse over them once, but not before.

also, i wonder if i somehow can change the original Y axis to get them to go even further up.
And also for the Y-axis, when do you need to move something more then 300 pixels up or down?
