Moncai Quest Tracker
Moncai Quest Tracker
I have been developing my modified quest tracker over the past few years. Each time Blizzard updated it's tracker, I updated mine with it. Coded from the ground up again for patch 3.3 and adapted to 4.0.1, I'm releasing it here so others may benefit.
New release
- Beta 4.0.1 is live and fixes issues with some quests and adds the option to show quest ID's
- Beta 4.0.0 is live and should fix (hopefully all) Cataclysm incompatibilities.
- Beta 3.3.3.2 (r36) is live. This fixes Questguru compatibility, collapsed tracker width and re-introduces the buddy system (at a basic level).
Current features
- New: Tracker is optionally movable and you may choose to display Item buttons on the left side, see config (/mqt) under "Placement"
- Tracker shows levels and colors but still stays true to the original by Blizzard
- Includes all the questing goodies Blizzard has put into the 3.3.3 update
- If you quest with someone else who has this tracker, you can track their progress
- Works with QuestHelper 1.3.x, reflecting the order in which to do the quests (version 1.3.10 tested)
- Works with Tourguide style addons by using built-in proximity sorting
- Shift-click a header in the Questlog to toggle the watches for all quests under that header
- Access the configuration screen by typing /mqt in the chat window or via "Game Menu"-"Interface"-"Addons"
- A few features I have missed
QuestHelper integration
For a successfull integration with QuestHelper, please mind the following things:
- Please use version 1.3.7 or higher of QuestHelper
- Make sure it's enabled in the configuration screen (type /mqt to access it)
- Disable the built-in tracker of QuestHelper, either via it's configuration menu or via the slash command "/qh track" (without the quotes).
Since QuestHelper is no longer actively developed, you may also want to disable the integration and then Right-Click the WatchFrame header ("Objectives") and in the pop-up menu select "Proximity" under "Sort Quests". Tip: this also works well with Tourguide based addons
Upcoming features
For now I consider the tracker fairly feature-complete except for the buddy leveling-system which I hope to extend in the future. If you have ideas, feel free to create a ticket on wowace describing your wanted feature.
Beta, what does that mean?
Oh yes, there will be bugs! Since I am only one person it's impossible for me to test every setup or addon-combination. If you like, please give it a try, and help me make the addon better. Your feedback is kindly appreciated!

Have you tried disabling other addons? I suspect another addon is interfering with the placement of the tracker, since it works like it should on my set-up. If I know which other addon causes this, I might be able to remedy this for you.
I just found out that if you have LUI Core on, the quest tracker wont move with the floater.
I turned each of my addons on with only this one on, i dont know about other addons, but LUI Core is surely one.
I've finished my code review and released 5.1.0. Thank you for your patience!
bug: unable to move the tracker. it's always on the right side, moving floater doesn't move it.
suggestion: option for quests to disappear from tracker when objectives are completed
Make sure that the "Hide Floater" option is not marked. I could move my tracker with no problems at all.
If nothing else works, disable all other addons and try to move the tracker, then enable all addons again.
I am using r54 which I got from here and it works fine for me, but wanted to let you know that the Curse link from this page takes you to v4.3 on Curse.com that says it was Updated 4 September 2012 . It is listed as v4.30 and supports v4.3, not sure if it is a mistake and should say v.5.04 .
Keep up the good work as I know there are others besides me who enjoy your addons.
You should name the file 5.0.4 as v5.4.0 is way down the line for release by Blizzard.
Feeling like a Stillpine Shaman against 5.0.4 Murgurgula, my addon being Gurf.
"This will have to do for now! The shaman will be able to repair the damage later."

MoncaiQuestTracker works again as 5.0.4-beta, but no guarantees. I still have some code to go over, but at least until 25th of september it should work good enough.
If you use "GetNumSubgroupMembers(LE_PARTY_CATEGORY_HOME)" instead of "GetNumSubgroupMembers()", you'll avoid the flood of 'Your aren't in a party." messages while in a battleground, or LFR/LFG.
Pleeeeeease update soon. With this and QuestHelper out of date, I have no options for level indicators for quests in pretty colors and that sucks a lot! It's been like a week D:
Mists of Pandaria version is under development, hope to release it soon!
Mists of Pandaria version is under development, hope to release it soon!
Posistion doesn't lock, seems tied to minimap still.
Doesn't matter where I put it, it moves back horizontally near the minimap.
I am wondering if an update to 4.3 will be happening some time soon?
Cheers!
New version is up right now! Enjoy!
Ok figured this out..
The issue described blow occurs with either Chinchilla or MoveAnything (either one or both) are loaded. Disabling both fixes this issue.
I did that, and i get the yellow square on the screen.
It seems to not be connected to the objectives frame though..
I can drag the square around, but that seems all it does, it is not physically linked to the tracker window
@nebolith
Try one click on "Reset floater"
I cannot seem to move the quest tracker frame.
I have 'float the tracker' clicked but there doesn't seem to be method to move the frame.. Am I missing something?
Would there be a way to add an option to show weather a quest is a group quest or not? Maybe a little + or G. Hell, even add it to the level option if you have to. :3
