Moncai Quest Tracker
Moncai Quest Tracker
I have been developing my modified quest tracker over the past few years. Each time Blizzard updated it's tracker, I updated mine with it. Coded from the ground up again for patch 3.3 and adapted to 4.0.1, I'm releasing it here so others may benefit.
New release
- Beta 4.0.1 is live and fixes issues with some quests and adds the option to show quest ID's
- Beta 4.0.0 is live and should fix (hopefully all) Cataclysm incompatibilities.
- Beta 3.3.3.2 (r36) is live. This fixes Questguru compatibility, collapsed tracker width and re-introduces the buddy system (at a basic level).
Current features
- New: Tracker is optionally movable and you may choose to display Item buttons on the left side, see config (/mqt) under "Placement"
- Tracker shows levels and colors but still stays true to the original by Blizzard
- Includes all the questing goodies Blizzard has put into the 3.3.3 update
- If you quest with someone else who has this tracker, you can track their progress
- Works with QuestHelper 1.3.x, reflecting the order in which to do the quests (version 1.3.10 tested)
- Works with Tourguide style addons by using built-in proximity sorting
- Shift-click a header in the Questlog to toggle the watches for all quests under that header
- Access the configuration screen by typing /mqt in the chat window or via "Game Menu"-"Interface"-"Addons"
- A few features I have missed
QuestHelper integration
For a successfull integration with QuestHelper, please mind the following things:
- Please use version 1.3.7 or higher of QuestHelper
- Make sure it's enabled in the configuration screen (type /mqt to access it)
- Disable the built-in tracker of QuestHelper, either via it's configuration menu or via the slash command "/qh track" (without the quotes).
Since QuestHelper is no longer actively developed, you may also want to disable the integration and then Right-Click the WatchFrame header ("Objectives") and in the pop-up menu select "Proximity" under "Sort Quests". Tip: this also works well with Tourguide based addons
Upcoming features
For now I consider the tracker fairly feature-complete except for the buddy leveling-system which I hope to extend in the future. If you have ideas, feel free to create a ticket on wowace describing your wanted feature.
Beta, what does that mean?
Oh yes, there will be bugs! Since I am only one person it's impossible for me to test every setup or addon-combination. If you like, please give it a try, and help me make the addon better. Your feedback is kindly appreciated!

The tracker position continues to change position. I'm not sure if it's the addon itself or an incompatibility with sexy map, but it seems to be glitching trying to decide whether to dock on the map or float. When I set it to float it will go where I set it, then on seemingly random instances it reverts back and forth between my set position and being anchored to the minimap.
As to your problem: Sexymap may try to control the tracker. Did you disable this option in Sexymap?
Thanks!
As I type this, I have several daily quests in IC that I've picked up and not one of them is showing. Is there a setting somewhere that I missed?
Cool! I needed a new quest tracker, as the one i've been using for years...nQuestLog got destroyed by the 4.0.1 patch.
I give this a try let ya know!
Athariel, thanks for your contribution! I'll see what I can do!
On a side note, the à in Moncaà is not fancy, its Gaelic (and encoded in UTF8 which all strings should be).
To clarify: either:
1. use MQT's built-in floater to position it and open Chinchilla's preferences, click the "Position" module and remove the checkmark from "Enable" at the top.
i cant use it this way as if i remove the checkmark then my all my minmap postions get moved, but this is just an fyi.
the thing ive found, and i cant figure out whether its either chinchill/moncai or another one altogether, is that it just isnt showing new quests (yes i have marked the box in the interface for automatic quest tracking :p) it will show objectives (1) but not the actualy quest title. it used to do this properly when i was using sexy map so i can only assume its something to do with chinchilla but i dont see how? i use questhelper too and thought it must might be a random thing but when turned QH track back on and that showed the quest title like always. is there something im missing in a checkbox somewhere with chinchilla?
I have the position box checked as thats the only way i can move the tracker but i have the quest tracker turned off atm, but tested this with it on and it still doesnt show the quests. again yes i have the auto track quests option on in the interface, the only thing i have changed is switching from sexymap to chinchilla, anyone else noticed this?
many thanks and hope i/we can figure it out!
The thing with the quests not showing and disappearing is under investigation!
And one more thing, actually. It's not like someone really cares about our language, but current way of text composing addon uses is very unfriendly to russian translation, for instance the word 'you' used in "You have X mobs to kill left" and "You have finished (quest name)" must be translated differently, or else one of these sentences does not make any sence.
I wonder if you might consider adding a couple of features:
1) Check box support to auto-hide the tracker in various situations (always, when empty, in a 5-man instance, in a raid instance, in PvP) as was available in Inquest.
2) Ability to adjust the font and size of tracker text
3) Ability to change tracker line spacing
Number 1 above is the most important to me because this will allow for more screen real estate under specific circumstances or when not needed and reduces clutter.
I especially like the level coloring of quest titles and the fact the tracker window moves to accomodate the right action bars or lack thereof (i.e. in a vehicle). This feature is not available in some other tracker mods.
Thanks again for a great add-on.
Thanks.
Oh, and also - is it ok to change the fancy 'i' letter in your name to regular 'i'? Russian client does not support it and shows cyrillic garbage instead.
I've done the russian translation recently, could you please repack the add-on with it so i can test if it actually follows the context.
