MrTrader

Table of Contents

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

MrTrader is a Tradeskill window replacement, with additional features to streamline how you interact with others for your tradeskills, especially if you have alts. Browse all your tradeskills from any character on the same server, link them just as easily to others, and even allow others to ask for a tradeskill link without having to do anything on your part.

Auto-Responses in chat to link requests using '!full' or '!link'.

- Fully configurable, with privacy-friendly defaults.
Server-Wide Tradeskill Access (requires a LibDataBroker display)
- One-menu access to your tradeskills.
- Link any tradeskill you know, or your alts know.
- Browse any tradeskill you know, or your alts know.
- Browse your guild's tradeskills without having to dig through the guild roster window.

LibDataBroker displays like Fortress or TitanPanel are required for the Tradeskill Access menu feature. I personally like TitanPanel, but any of them will work.

It was a great addon. Pity it is throwing too many errors in Patch 6.2. I still would like to thank Kolenka for giving this wonderful gift to all the World of Warcraft players.

I would love an update for this addon :sadface:

For those that can't wait for a fix, just disable the profit module. Sad I know, but returns functionality of the other features.

ARL is responsible for adding the button. I don't know what they did, but they managed to break it without me doing anything to break it. I'd open a ticket against their project, it'll get fixed the fastest that way, I believe.

Addon does not work with Ackis Recipe List anymore. Scan button from ARL does not appear. Disabling MT and enabling the default tradeskill UI restored ARL button.

I have a version in pre-release that checks up on the status of these. The problem is that the way they are exposed by Blizzard is tied directly into how their UI works. In the case of MrTrader, the data simply doesn't show up when I would like it to. I'm also experimenting with UI to show the value, but it hasn't been very easy to find a method that I like.

I love this addon. Only way this would be better is if there was a tab or dropdown menu so you could select a different tradeskill i.e. I open engineering and use the tab or dropdown menu to switch over to smelting or cooking or first aid or any other tradeskill I know.

Try Profession Tabs, it's the addon I use for that. I'm not a huge fan on integrating too much functionality into a single addon when other addons do it just as well. Between that, and MrTrader's LDB menu in something like Titan, it's fairly easy at this point to jump around to what you need to get to.

Just wanted to point out that I am playing again, and will be revisiting MrTrader. I did a tiny bit of housekeeping by fixing the TOC, and fixing Reeb's Lua error in 0.6.7.

I had a Rift-inspired UI in the works that I'm still pondering what to do with. I don't know if I want to go with it or something entirely different. I'm trying to learn what I can from what other MMOs like SWTOR and Rift have done right/wrong with their own UI and apply it to MrTrader. The current UI seems to do as many good things as bad, and the bad things I can't really fix with the current UI. Some of the things I'm thinking of:

Information density of the window is fairly low. The window is big for some users, and you only get a half-dozen recipes displayed at a time. Can I improve this?
Despite reagents being visible, they are icon only. Some recipes require tiny icons as well in order to fit. This means that I spend a lot of time hovering when I want more information. Can I maybe move more information into the act of hovering so you can browse quickly, but not eat up space on things that are only half useful?
What can I do to cut through the data and help people find things faster? What questions are people really asking of the data? "What can I make with what I have?" "What levels my skills?" "What makes me money on the AH?" "What should I be wearing?"

What a deepful pity that one of the best trade-skill add-ons, if at least not the best. is just dying silently... i wish someone would undertake this and go ahead...!!!!!!!!!!

Could you explain better how to use !link and !full, and what the differences are? I looked into the code and I couldn't decipher it that way. I tested it by whispering myself stuff like "!link embersilk bandage" and "!link enchant weapon - avalanche" and every time, the response was that there were no skills by that name. I even tried "first aid: " as a prefix.

There is no difference. !full is the same used by another addon that used it to link full tradeskills.

MrTrader only links full tradeskills. So "!link jewel" will link their jewelcrafting. This feature isn't nearly as useful since you can view guild skills now. Especially since you can use search and custom categories.
