MuteAnnoying
Mutes sounds from Mute Annoying WoW Sounds
Since Patch 8.2.0 you can't replace sounds anymore by placing a file in the Sound\ folder, they can now only be muted with MuteSoundFile()
Note that there is a difference between Sound Kit IDs and File Data IDs, see https://wow.gamepedia.com/API_MuteSoundFile#Finding_Sound_IDs
Still working OK in 10.0.
It doesn't seem to work in 9.0.2, I can hear combat noises and shit even after installing both addons
In reply to Intervencion:
I bumped the TOC, see if that helps
In reply to Ketho17:
Maybe it's just that it's not muting what I was expecting it to mute. For me, annoying sounds are melee sounds my character does. I main Guardian Druid so it's a lot of bear noises that are honestly just making me ctrl S every other fight.
In reply to aisenfaire:
You can replace sounds in Classic the old way (as in before patch 8.2.0)
Create a sound folder and drop the empty sound files into it
In reply to Ketho17:
What would be the filename and path to the mechanopeep walking sound in classic? I used you above example and to mute the stupid engine noise and I want to mute that crazy click walk now.
In reply to azrenegade:
I don't know, but you can look it up here if you press the eye (preview) icon
https://wow.tools/files/#search=mechano,type:ogg
In reply to Ketho17:
I think I found the proper sound files but can't get them to mute the strider walking. Oddly it seems to mute part of the sound? Perhaps I am placing them in the wrong path?
The spidertank sounds are here at the top - https://wow.tools/files/#search=footstep&page=9&sort=0&desc=asc
I also found this which sounds much like the walking I am trying to mute.

Any advice or tips you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
In reply to azrenegade:
I managed to make all the movement sounds silent. Made a post on reddit:

In reply to Forge_User_12502610:
Thank you kind sir! I had most of the files correct, but never included the spidertank wound files. That addition completely muted the walking sounds!
In reply to Ketho17:
Would it be possible for you to make an addon to mute classic sounds?
There is no "sound" folder in classic and when I added one it wouldn't let me launch the game :(

Can you add the corrupted dreadwing idle burning sound?
And the demon hunter sounds. It seems they are extra special and extremely hard to find and even then not mutable even with the old method.
Also the links that brought me here contained links to github sound ID lists but they arent working anymore. It might help to link here to a working list so we can select specific sounds ourselves.
[564378] = "sound/creature/worgenfemale/worgenfemale_emotesniff_02.ogg",
[564383] = "sound/creature/worgenfemale/worgenfemale_emotesniff_03.ogg",
[564422] = "sound/creature/worgenfemale/worgenfemale_emotesniff_01.ogg",
[564536] = "sound/creature/worgenmale/worgenmale_emotesniff_03.ogg",
[564544] = "sound/creature/worgenmale/worgenmale_emotesniff_02.ogg",
[564560] = "sound/creature/worgenmale/worgenmale_emotesniff_01.ogg",
Curse won't let me edit comments, grrr.
Also tried
[109419] = "Sound/Creature/TORTOLLAN/VO_801_Tortollan_Male_Merchant_GREETINGS.ogg",
[109418] = "Sound/Creature/TORTOLLAN/VO_801_Tortollan_Male_Merchant_FAREWELLS.ogg",
and it didn't work. :(
In reply to aisenfaire:
Yea Curse is fucking up because the addon was uploaded from WowAce and that apparently has issues (it works if you reply/edit from there).
The sounds browser from Wowhead shows Sound Kit IDs (instead of File Data IDs)
See https://wow.gamepedia.com/API_MuteSoundFile#Finding_Sound_IDs
Note that any update custom.lua will be overwritten, you'd have to keep a personal backup somewhere else. In the meantime I will try to make it automatically store any sounds it finds there into the savedvariables.
In the future I might add an in-game sound browser and profiles/presets like MuteSoundFile and Leatrix Sounds do.
Thank you so much! Blessed silence, here I come!
Thank you for making this into a working addon this patch!
The custom file looks lovely, but I was too much of a noob to make it work. :(
Would it be possible for you to tell me what the format should be for blocking this stupid Tortollan? https://www.wowhead.com/npc=142666/collector-unta#sounds Mainly his top 2 sounds, greeting and farewell.
I tried:
but it was clearly wrong and did not work.
In reply to aisenfaire:
Also need to mute those 2 sounds... they make the AH dino super annoying to use.
