NameplateRange
Nameplates will only show within 40 yards (down from 60)
(Enable Always Show Nameplates if you want to see nameplates while not in combat)
Stops nameplates from clamping to the screen
edit: since patch 7.1 only the targeted nameplate clamps by default, so this change has been reverted

You don't need to use this addon, it's basically this script
(The nameplate cvars are character-specific, this addon makes it easier to run on all characters)
/run SetCVar("nameplateMaxDistance", 40)
Note: If you stop using this addon the cvars will still stay the same, but you can change them back

Posted Jul 31, 2016My guess would be your solution works perfectly. Not sure of anytning can be done about it, but the remaining issue for me is ther "stacking" of multiple enemy plates. The USED to spread both horizontally and vertically, now mostly vertically. Not near as good. Only important to me because 1) I raid, 2) I ALWAYS pick out the most signifigant mob in a trash pack to get down first... which is why I need to see the Soul Cleaver, Seer right away!

Posted Aug 8, 2016That was called "spreading", and indeed they removed it. Addons can't do anything about that, since we can't reliably move the clickboxes around, and there's no hidden CVar for it that we know of, etc.

Posted Aug 8, 2016I cooould, but I just tell people to come here, since this is so small. And I knew you'd made something for it from IRC. There's a lot of stuff I wanted to do already, so refering to this was easier. I might add them at some point.

Posted Jul 24, 2016If you only want nameplate distance set to 40 yards
如果你要显示血条距离到40码
/run SetCVar("nameplateMaxDistance", 40)If you want nameplates to still clamp to the screen (default)
不见的血条还留在屏幕上面(默认的)
/run for _, v in pairs({"nameplateOtherTopInset", "nameplateOtherBottomInset"}) do SetCVar(v, GetCVarDefault(v)) end-

Posted Jul 23, 2016Ow, the scripts are easy to customize, this will do what you want:
/run SetCVar("nameplateMaxDistance", 40)And changing clamping back to default:
/run for k, v in pairs({"nameplateOtherTopInset", "nameplateOtherBottomInset"}) do SetCVar(v, GetCVarDefault(v)) end-

Posted Jul 22, 2016You, good sir, are awesome. Now we just need an addon that makes the name plates look like normal.
