PitBull Unit Frames 4.0
PitBull Unit Frames 4.0
Woof. Arf. Yip.
Getting Started:
You can help translate PitBull for your language with the localization tool.
Classic
PitBull works with WoW Classic! Classic Era/Vanilla is supported in
v4.3.x-vanilla
releases. Cataclysm Classic is supported in v4.2.x
releases
(the same releases retail use).
Classic Era caveats:
- Aura duration is not available from the API, so PitBull uses LibClassicDurations to show them. The duration can be inaccurate if it's affected by rank or talents.
- Cast info is only available for your spells from the API. PitBull uses LibClassicCasterino to show cast bars for other units, but this can be inaccurate since there is a lot of guess-work involved.

Layout Editor
Select the appropriate layout you want.
Texts
Select Combat text as the Current text (probably will be selected as it's the default)
Make sure it's not set to Inside, Middle.
In about 15 minutes or so I had all my frames completely configured to where I needed them to be. Looking the way I wanted them to look and behaving the way i wanted them to behave.
Pitbull 4 has my vote.
Thanks for another great addon ckknight and all those involved.
The fix doesn't seem to be working in raids though. It was fine after I updated, and then once I got into a raid I had the same problems that I did before: Name and other text information disappearing off my target's frame, no buffs except Chill of the Throne showing up, et cetera.
Thank you Shefki!

PB3 had the configuration for each frame flat out set.
PB4 has the configuration encapsulated in a Layout, which you can then apply to one frame or as many frames as you want.
Part of the reason for this is that we allow multiple groups and will soon allow multiple units (you could have two target frames). So the concept of a per frame config is pretty inadequate for this design.
As I explained on the PB3 page. It's based on Rock which is an unmaintained framework. PB4 is based on Ace3 which is actively maintained. Besides that PB3 has a number of problems with it, including a design problem that causes taint and breaks every other addon that uses the SecureTemplates (Grid, HealBot, etc).
You might as well convert to PitBull4. We have no intention of maintaining PitBull3 forever. As it is it's only getting minimal bug fixes. Sooner or later we will entirely stop supporting it. Making the switch now allows you to run both and makes it a hell of a lot easier to migrate your configuration. If you wait until PitBull3 is entirely broken you'll be unable to look at what you did in your PB3 config and have the frames overlapping to get the exact same setup.
There is a guide and a FAQ linked at the top to help you with these things. In particular I'd suggest that you go through the Making Layouts and Applying them to Frames guide (since this seems to be what you're having trouble understanding):
http://www.wowace.com/addons/pitbull4/pages/guide/making-layouts-and-applying-to-frames/
It works with layouts, and you select the layout per unit.
for example you make a layout called "Sexy" - afterwards you go to your units-pane and select that you want to use the "Sexy" layout for your target, and maybe also for raidgroups.
It's not so hard, use your brains ;)
