Prat 3.0
In loving memory of Jon Akthar (Sylvanaar)
Hello WoW community, I'm LuciferCatnip, Sylvanaar was my coworker and my mentor. It goes without saying that Jon was an amazingly talented individual. He always seemed to know everything... but he once said to me "It's not about knowing the answers, it's about asking the right questions", he always challenged me to ask me the right questions until I would arrive at the answer on my own terms. Jon was also a champion of the open source movement, and so with special thanks to Gil from Curseforge as well as Sylvanaar's family, there's no better way to honor Sylvanaar's legacy than to keep his project going strong in the community.
If you'd like to help maintain Prat, please reach out to MysticalOS or LuciferCatnip directly. Thank you so much.
About
Prat-3.0 is a chat enhancement addon for World of Warcraft.
It is made up of 30+ smaller "modules" which each provide additional functionality, and can be enabled or disabled individually.
In game, type /prat for a menu. Or use the icon on one of the many data broker hosts.
Prat has just about every feature you can think of, and then some. Really. When I get some more time, I'll try and put together a full list (Even I have lost count)
(Thanks to Dreamsight for this partial list)
- Sync your chat settings across your account (Beta)
- AI powered spam filter (Beta)
- Change arrows, buttons, mouse scroll for chat scroll, scroll speed
- you can add player color per channel, color per level, color per class
- timestamps (styled)
- whether to show timestamp (what format the timestamp should be in)
- whether to show players level
- you can select the option for channel "stickys" (last channel you used you auto use when hitting enter, that sort of thing – or last thing someone said)
- change the looks of the chat's editbox - as well as where it appears (you can even undock it and move it to where you'd like it to be)
- chat fading, fading delay
- You can change the font to a list of fonts, add an outline to it, monochrome it (if you don’t mind messing with files a bit you could probably even add other fonts to that list)
- change the chat frame/chat box appearance
- Keep chat history between game sessions
- Set channel abbreviations
- set brackets and color(or something instead of brackets)round player/lvl
- alt invite option (press keyboard “alt” button and click on the player’s name to auto inv them)
- raid icon
- invite links - click them to invite the person
- URL copying
- Full chat copying + copy button
- Click timestamp to copy line
- Configurable alerts when your name or other word is mentioned
- enables tell target /tt which whispers your target
- Alias options - make macros into short commands
- See names of players Alt characters
- change chat sounds (incoming and outgoing as well as per channel)
- Achievements info and grats
- Full chat search and search box
- Customizable filters for advanced users
- Show item icon next to item links and player class icon next to player names
- Icon-only options for newcomers chat
- Optional flashing or font color change for chat tabs when a new message comes in.
You can enable/disable all Prat modules - don't have to have the ones you don't use running
While trying to reduce resource utilization, it is also important to note that some people prefer the features, and don't care that an addon uses 500k more.
Same here.
Just start seeing "CHAT_MSG_CHANNEL_NOTICE".
Hello ;) when ever i enter a ''vehicle'' like pet battles or coffin in kings rest the ui completly buggs out when ever i have prat enabled anny ideas to a fix? =)

I get this error when trying to edit guild notes. It's one of those "Disable addon/Ignore error" messages. I got it with LinkWrangler installed too. I disabled LinkWrangler and now it's calling out Prat. If I choose to ignore then I can't edit my guild notes, forcing me to disable Prat and I don't want to disable Prat - I need it! LOL
What I don't understand is both of my alts use the same addons with the same profiles for each of them. My guild leader alt doesn't get these errors but my other alt who is not the guild leader but has all of the permissions allowed almost always gets this error when trying to edit notes or ranks.

Not sure if this will work for you.
But I've found disabling the chat box module of Prat can fix this.
I see curse has issues with posting replies as well =\
There is something wrong with the edit box, the font is not the same size as the rest, it seems that it is oversized. Would you please put in an option to edit the size of the font in the edit box?
Hi. I returned to the game after seven years away and I am using your Prat addon again.
Didn't there used to be an option to fade out the chat tabs but keep the chat itself visible so all we see on screen without mousing over that chat frame is just the text itself? Or was this perhaps a different addon that did that?
If Prat does this can you please direct me to where those settings are or inform me as to which module I need to have enabled? I currently cannot find a setting anywhere to fade/hide the chat tabs.
Thanks.
In reply to Mark_in_AJ:
Yes, that feature is still in the addon. I think its under "Tabs", the check boxes at the top. Just uncheck them for each chat and its only visible when you scroll in that chat. But it also hides the Tabs incase you use several attached to each other. Then just set the time until chat fades out to your liking and you are done.
is there any fix for the Classic Prat? I keep getting errors popping up when i try to accept a BG queue, and then it renders the button useless....VERY annoying, along with many other issues.

Same. Hoping it gets fixed soon

Anyone has overlapping names and chat messages with the newest version? And a different font for channel name and text while writing but the usual font for the chat is unchanged?
In reply to Zasz_:
same here

I switched to a version before the silvester update and its working fine. Not going to update until its fixed.

It would be great to be able to move the buttons and not just hide them.
I'm running the classic version and I was just curious if there is a way to change shaman blue to pink, considering its pink everywhere else in the UI, A checkbox or some such would be nice in the prat interface, but I can change it in the file myself if you show me where (I looked, couldnt figure it out) Thanks!
Can we get an option in custom filters to not include item links?
For example, I have "Lava" as a custom filter and all items that contain lava in them just get their link coloring really messed up.
Also, can we get the option to not have the custom filters case sensitive? I have to make a lot of filters just to filter the same words because of that.
