Prat 3.0
In loving memory of Jon Akthar (Sylvanaar)
Hello WoW community, I'm LuciferCatnip, Sylvanaar was my coworker and my mentor. It goes without saying that Jon was an amazingly talented individual. He always seemed to know everything... but he once said to me "It's not about knowing the answers, it's about asking the right questions", he always challenged me to ask me the right questions until I would arrive at the answer on my own terms. Jon was also a champion of the open source movement, and so with special thanks to Gil from Curseforge as well as Sylvanaar's family, there's no better way to honor Sylvanaar's legacy than to keep his project going strong in the community.
If you'd like to help maintain Prat, please reach out to MysticalOS or LuciferCatnip directly. Thank you so much.
About
Prat-3.0 is a chat enhancement addon for World of Warcraft.
It is made up of 30+ smaller "modules" which each provide additional functionality, and can be enabled or disabled individually.
In game, type /prat for a menu. Or use the icon on one of the many data broker hosts.
Prat has just about every feature you can think of, and then some. Really. When I get some more time, I'll try and put together a full list (Even I have lost count)
(Thanks to Dreamsight for this partial list)
- Sync your chat settings across your account (Beta)
- AI powered spam filter (Beta)
- Change arrows, buttons, mouse scroll for chat scroll, scroll speed
- you can add player color per channel, color per level, color per class
- timestamps (styled)
- whether to show timestamp (what format the timestamp should be in)
- whether to show players level
- you can select the option for channel "stickys" (last channel you used you auto use when hitting enter, that sort of thing – or last thing someone said)
- change the looks of the chat's editbox - as well as where it appears (you can even undock it and move it to where you'd like it to be)
- chat fading, fading delay
- You can change the font to a list of fonts, add an outline to it, monochrome it (if you don’t mind messing with files a bit you could probably even add other fonts to that list)
- change the chat frame/chat box appearance
- Keep chat history between game sessions
- Set channel abbreviations
- set brackets and color(or something instead of brackets)round player/lvl
- alt invite option (press keyboard “alt” button and click on the player’s name to auto inv them)
- raid icon
- invite links - click them to invite the person
- URL copying
- Full chat copying + copy button
- Click timestamp to copy line
- Configurable alerts when your name or other word is mentioned
- enables tell target /tt which whispers your target
- Alias options - make macros into short commands
- See names of players Alt characters
- change chat sounds (incoming and outgoing as well as per channel)
- Achievements info and grats
- Full chat search and search box
- Customizable filters for advanced users
- Show item icon next to item links and player class icon next to player names
- Icon-only options for newcomers chat
- Optional flashing or font color change for chat tabs when a new message comes in.
You can enable/disable all Prat modules - don't have to have the ones you don't use running
While trying to reduce resource utilization, it is also important to note that some people prefer the features, and don't care that an addon uses 500k more.
I have that issue as well
problem for me : I can't see items link in the chatbox
I am having the same issue as well and I can't find an option to change it, can someone please help?
I'd like to make a suggestion, maybe its something Ive over looked if so please point me in the right direction. I love my current chat addon "chatMOD" but it is no longer being updated. The feature I love about this is the ability for it to automatically add a "Highlight" to the current toon logged in. This feature does the following w/o any "filter" setup. Its essentially the same as custom filters but its automatic per logged in toon. Example say my name is "Noob" it would have an error style popup with the current character's name highlighted and do the same following highlight in chat; >Noob< the highlight would be colored w/ the name in red (I know prat can do this) and the >< brackets are colored in yellow. I know this seems a bit trivial but its the entire reason Ive not migrated to prat. If someone knows a lua string I can use to setup filters I suppose that would work aswell TYIA
Is there a way to reverse chat scrolling drection? I am finding it hard to read the very bottom of my screen, and if I recall correctly this addon used to have this capability.
I'm also having the issue where item/profession/skill/spell links aren't working in chat. Happened only as of latest patch 4.3.0.15050. Additionally, text before a link will not appear and whole lines are also unavailable.
Hi!
Sometime the Control+Mouse wheel UP (or down) not working for top (or bottom) line in chat.
And in some cases even at the bottom (last) line at chat the go-to-last-button still active until a new line arriving.
Don't know if need some setting in configuration or not.
causing me to get a fatal error 132. It was suggested to me to contact the author for a fix. from the log

little more info i was using a older build when i got the error. checked curse for update and updated still got the error. I seem to get the error when I go and unlock a window.
If you need anything further from me I can be contacted via email [email protected] please put RE:Prat 3.0 so your email is not ignored. Or if you do have a account feel free to post of that thread and i will wait for a response. Thnak you for your wonderful addon hopefully it's a easy fix.
How come links in the chat window doesnt work? Links for items etc.
Hello i briefly searched through the posts/comments to see if there was any similar people with the same problem and i guess there isn't, when i go to rightclick a character's name in the chatwindow the "Target" Option is now gone, im not sure if theres a solution or if this problem has even been reported, ive siffed thru google and even the actual options for prat and have found zero solutions, any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
One of the worst addons Ive had the displeasure of using. Turn fade off, it still fades, turn off abreviations, they are still there, having to click below the chat window in order for the 'say' field to appear so you can type is nothing short of a joke. The list goes on and on.

History is no longer working. Under module control, History is "enabled". Under Display Settings -> History, "General" is checked and chat line are set to 1150. But nothing is remembered. When I log out normally and log back in, the General window starts clear and no history is inserted or visible, like it used to work.
Troubleshooting steps taken: I have tried completely deleting addons/prat-3.0* folders, Prat-3.0.lua in (username)/SavedVariables, and (server)/(toon)/SavedVariables/Prat-3.0.lua files, then setting everything up again. Still doesn't do history.
Hello,
I have an issue where I type out something (Usually in General Chat) and it simply doesn't display in the chat box after a press 'enter'. It sort of blocks me from having any chat input for a short time.
Any ideas or logs I could provide?
Is the author still supporting this?
Now as an Rper the word Land tends to come up alot, I like to keep Class Coloured names on to make for easy reading but we have a DK in our guild called Land and I can't see any option to make prat Omit specific names from it's system.
Any help?
