ProfessionsVault
Simple and light-weight tracking of profession links and recipes for all your alts and friends. Tooltip enhancements and AH/merchant coloring for professions-related recipes and items - ideal for recipe collecting, profession leveling, and any serious crafting.
NOTE: PATCH 5.4 BREAKS PV AND SIMILAR ADDONS
Blizzard has made a major change to the operation of tradeskill hyperlinks in patch 5.4.0, whose implementation seriously affects their usability and fundamentally breaks addons such as ProfessionsVault that rely upon them. Read more details here, and please help complain on the Blizzard Bug Report Forums. A recent tweet from Blizzard Community Manager Bashiok hints there may be a fix forthcoming in a future client patch, however it STILL remains broken after two client patches (5.4.2).
The current release of ProfessionsVault is a "cripped" version that omits the features which rely upon working TradeSkill links (annotated below). There is still no way to open the trade skill links for characters that are offline or you are not directly interacting with. This limitation is imposed by Blizzard's broken hyperlink implementation, as described above. Other features are fully functional, notably including recipe coloring and AH scanning. It notably also allows you to open the tradeskill windows of any same-guild toon in your database (it uses the guild roster to bypass the broken hyperlinks).
Features
Profession list features
- ProfessionsVault automatically records and saves the profession links of all your alts
- Easily allows saving any professions linked from friends or guildies into your database
- <Broken in 5.4> Provides one-click access to the Trade Skill UI of any toon's profession.
- Supports easily posting links of your toon's professions to any chat
- Data is shared between all your toons on the realm, including cross-faction
- <Broken in 5.4> Comes pre-loaded with links to fully-stocked professions
Tooltip/Recipe features
- Enhances recipe tooltips with info about which characters can learn the pattern
- Colors recipes in the Auction House display to indicate which characters can learn the pattern
- Colors recipes in the Merchant (vendor) window display to indicate which characters can learn them.
- Automated scan allows your bank character to scan the AH for recipes learnable by any alt.
- Customizable recipe coloring and character name coloring
Misc features
- Includes an LDB broker with easy access to your professions, supports Fubar or Titan Panel, or can be used stand-alone
- Based on the Ace3 Addon Framework
- Enables the "link" button on all profession windows (default UI just has it for your own)
- Integrates nicely with other profession-related addons such as Ackis Recipe List, Skillet, Advanced Trade Skill Window and Gnomeworks
Usage
- Open the PV window using the minimap icon, LDB launcher or by typing "/pv show" on the command line.
- PV window shows all the saved professions for your character, any alts on the same account running PV, and any profession links you've saved.
- <Broken in 5.4> PV window also includes links to fully-stocked professions (ie containing every recipe)
- Data update happens automatically whenever you open a trade skill window, or you can update them all at any time using the "Scan my Professions" button. PV will automatically update when you learn a recipe or skill up.
- Config button can be used to configure tooltip/coloring integration.
- To save any profession link into PV (eg whispered from a friend or in trade), just open the link and press the new "Save" button that appears at the bottom of the Trade Skill UI. The same technique can be used to merge profession data from a second account (dual-boxing).

I don't usually post on addon's but I wanted to tell you that this is one of my favorites; second only to addon control panel. I have been using professions vault for over a year and it comes in so handy I have it set as one of my locked addon's so it can't be turned off. I have nothing but good things to say about this addon and if it were to ever go away I would cry so thank you for all your hard work.
Suggestion- I would love to see a feature on the all professions tab when you are scrolling through it should have a small marker indicating if I don't have a recipe and maybe a tooltip on how/where to get it. I can live without this but would be a nice addition.
Thanks for the praise!
PV is carefully orthogonal to whatever TradeSkill window addon you might be using, but I suppose I could add something for users of the Blizzard default window. It's a nice idea, I'll think about how to add some kind of indicator. In the meantime, I highly recommend Ackis Recipe List - it complements PV perfectly and includes all the data on obtaining patterns.
Hi,
Started getting the old cooking recipes for my Monk & noticed that Recipe: Feathered Lure from the vendor in Orgrimmar doesnt seem to color code anymore. All the others from this vendor are fine apart from this 1 for some reason.
Fixed in v6.1.5
The tick visually changes but it doesn't do its work and you have to set it manually.
With the titan panel plugin if you have the auto-hide mode enabled when you mouseover the ProfessionsVault label, the bar hides quickly (still if you continue mousing-over the label) unlike other plugins do, it's just a little detail.
Many thanks for the addon.
Minimap icon issued fixed in v6.1.5.
Second one sounds like a TitanPanel problem - the LDB broker decides when to show the tooltip, not PV.
I've been thinking about adding some customization to the tooltip format, will get around to it eventually.
i can't see the from my Toons
Cooking: Way of the Brew
Cooking: Way of the Grill
Cooking: Way of the Oven
Cooking: Way of the Pot
Cooking: Way of the Wok
Cooking: Way of the Steamer
what the main char have, so i can't send needed recipe (sorry my bad english, i'm german)
This is actually due to a Blizzard bug in the new expansion - Cooking links do not include any information about the recipes or skill levels of the MoP specialties - you can only see the specialties for your own Cooking tradeskill. So for example if you link your Cooking to chat and open the link, the specialty data will be missing (even without this addon being involved).
Fortunately, there are no recipie items for those specialties - every cooking specialty recipe is taught by a trainer, so there are no recipe items another toon could purchase and mail. It is annoying that one cannot see the list of cooking mats for specialty recipes on an alt, but this is also true if someone had linked you their cooking trade skill. Hopefully Blizzard will fix this soon.
Hi I was wondering if u can add a feature where it adds a date to the recipe u have leant mainly jc and lw and bs patterns that are drops or u have obtains from dailys etc if u know what I mean
Interesting idea, however this information is not available for query from the server so the addon could only report learn operations that the addon directly observes. Also, any time there's a wow patch or addon database wipe, the addon regularly re-scans and re-builds your profession data from scratch, to ensure everything is current, and it would be very difficult to preserve a history across those operations. Given these limitations, I don't think such a feature would be tractable or worthwhile to implement.
thanks for addon. It would be nice to have option to exclude cooking from AH scan, because I think no one really needs to learn all ~200 cooking recipes on all characters... so results of AH scan are always spammed by these recipes.
Not everyone agrees with you :-)
However you can get that behavior by opening the PV window, browsing "by Profession", then right-click Cooking and select "Hide This Entry". Or alternatively, you can individually hide the Cooking entries for alts you don't care about.
ProfessionsVault v6.0 is now available for WoW 5.x.
I'm aware of a few outstanding bugs (notably for non-English clients), which I'll be working on correcting in the next week or two (I'm responsible for many addons and my time is limited).
Please report any bugs here: http://www.wowace.com/addons/professionsvault/tickets/
Great add-on, but can you mark certain alts NOT to track or add this as a feature? I have a few low level guys that I actually don't want to collect recipes so, so its annoying that addon keeps alerting me by colour to recipes that my "main" collector for that profession already has. Cheers jub!
Yes, absolutely you can do that!
Just open the main PV window, navigate to the alt or profession you wish to exclude, right-click that alt or profession and choose "Hide this entry". That will remove it completely from all tooltips and coloring (at least until you unhide it again).
I love this tool. Honestly, it's one of my favorites--Thank you!!!
I have some unique questions as I'm a multi-boxer and haven't had much luck being able to figure this out on my own.
1) I have multiples of the same profession on the same account. I treasure being able to see color differences of recipes I haven't learned on AH. No matter if I hide an alt profession, click not to show Alts, etc, it wants to add in my alts to the color coding. I've even gone as far as deleting this mod & all the settings, loaded up my main first and the thing still somehow knows the recipes of my alt. It's driving me nuts!
2)I have a secondary main on a different account that I would like to scan recipes with. Since it's not on the same account, I have been unsuccessful at this. Any help would be appreciated.
Regarding your first issue, please post a ticket at http://www.wowace.com/addons/professionsvault/tickets with full information including your list of addons a screenshot of a recipe tooltip in the AH and your settings screen, and we can try to figure it out.
On the second issue, the best way to handle this currently is simply whisper trade links from one account to the other, open each and use the "save" button to add it to your database.
Excellent tool, however it would be even better if it could load the vaults for both my accounts to 1 data file. Please consider what is needed for those of us with multiple accounts.
Wow's security features prevent addons from automatically sharing data across accounts.

I've had a few recipes showing up as "learnable" even though I already know them:
Schematic: Deadly Scope
Schematic: Mithril Heavy-Bore Rifle
Design: Wicked Moonstone Ring
Pattern: Frostsaber Leggings
I deleted the saved variables file, and upgraded to the latest release, and the problem is persisting.
