NOTE: PATCH 5.4 BREAKS PV AND SIMILAR ADDONS
Blizzard has made a major change to the operation of tradeskill hyperlinks in patch 5.4.0, whose implementation seriously affects their usability and fundamentally breaks addons such as ProfessionsVault that rely upon them. Read more details here, and please help complain on the Blizzard Bug Report Forums. A recent tweet from Blizzard Community Manager Bashiok hints there may be a fix forthcoming in a future client patch, however it STILL remains broken after two client patches (5.4.2).
The current release of ProfessionsVault is a "cripped" version that omits the features which rely upon working TradeSkill links (annotated below). There is still no way to open the trade skill links for characters that are offline or you are not directly interacting with. This limitation is imposed by Blizzard's broken hyperlink implementation, as described above. Other features are fully functional, notably including recipe coloring and AH scanning. It notably also allows you to open the tradeskill windows of any same-guild toon in your database (it uses the guild roster to bypass the broken hyperlinks).
Features
Profession list features
- ProfessionsVault automatically records and saves the profession links of all your alts
- Easily allows saving any professions linked from friends or guildies into your database
- <Broken in 5.4> Provides one-click access to the Trade Skill UI of any toon's profession.
- Supports easily posting links of your toon's professions to any chat
- Data is shared between all your toons on the realm, including cross-faction
- <Broken in 5.4> Comes pre-loaded with links to fully-stocked professions
Tooltip/Recipe features
- Enhances recipe tooltips with info about which characters can learn the pattern
- Colors recipes in the Auction House display to indicate which characters can learn the pattern
- Colors recipes in the Merchant (vendor) window display to indicate which characters can learn them.
- Automated scan allows your bank character to scan the AH for recipes learnable by any alt.
- Customizable recipe coloring and character name coloring
Misc features
- Includes an LDB broker with easy access to your professions, supports Fubar or Titan Panel, or can be used stand-alone
- Based on the Ace3 Addon Framework
- Enables the "link" button on all profession windows (default UI just has it for your own)
- Integrates nicely with other profession-related addons such as Ackis Recipe List, Skillet, Advanced Trade Skill Window and Gnomeworks
Usage
- Open the PV window using the minimap icon, LDB launcher or by typing "/pv show" on the command line.
- PV window shows all the saved professions for your character, any alts on the same account running PV, and any profession links you've saved.
- <Broken in 5.4> PV window also includes links to fully-stocked professions (ie containing every recipe)
- Data update happens automatically whenever you open a trade skill window, or you can update them all at any time using the "Scan my Professions" button. PV will automatically update when you learn a recipe or skill up.
- Config button can be used to configure tooltip/coloring integration.
- To save any profession link into PV (eg whispered from a friend or in trade), just open the link and press the new "Save" button that appears at the bottom of the Trade Skill UI. The same technique can be used to merge profession data from a second account (dual-boxing).

Agreed, this is real dedication. Part of the reason I love this addon so much. :D
There's an odd interaction between professionsvault and Skillet. Not sure who is at fault with it. ;) When you learn a new recipe and "scan" it into PV, an empty Skillet crafting window pops up too.
Fixed in r521
Thanks, confirmed. :)
TradeSkill hyperlinks are still very much broken on live. A recent tweet from Blizzard Community Manager Bashiok hints there may be a fix forthcoming in a future client patch, but there is still no official word on a fix.

I understand and share everyone's frustration regarding this Blizzard bug. There's nothing futher I can do on the addon side - once the Blizzard hyperlink bug is fixed then PV should be fully functional again. Thank you to all my users for your support and patience on this matter.
Is this bug client or server side fixed or both
Atleast they know of the bug blizzard does...lol
Question of when blizzard wants to fix it
any chance to fix that problem?
I've done everything I can from the addon side. The broken hyperlinks are Blizzard's bug, please complain to them.
Yes, they've locked two of my threads now with no explanation or motivation. They've acknowledged the problem but have not made any committment to fix it, and I suspect they are hoping to bury the issue.
I'd recommend making your own post to complain - if enough users express concern about the bugginess of 5.4 tradeskill hyperlinks, it may force them to fix the problem.
hey guys
great addon !!!
Before the update i was able to see all recipies in all professions with this addon and now i only see the once i have. pls help me change it back coz it was very helpfull
No longer possible since 5.4. See the note at the top of the addon description.
When looking at recipes now ...where it shows Known and Skill too low...it is showing ALL toons across ALL realms. While this would be a nice feature occasionally, for normal play it is just confusing and not useful. Is there any chance you could limit it too Combined realms (kinda like before when it was each realm's info only displayed) ?
Addon v7.1 (in beta testing) includes an option to filter the display to your current realm.
@oscarucb
well i read forum post , its horrible, someone also reported post, bah, i cant do much just say here i support the idea blizzard fix this, i have not active account now and cant post reply on forum, on other hand i check translations from spanish and i think all are done. :D hugs.
This addon is indespensible, especially if you have more than one toon on the same server. This addon makes it possible to see what professions your other toons know, which ones they need to know, which ones your current toon can obtain, where to obtain them, and even assists with vendors by greying-out recipes/skills you already know. It even gives you a list of all recipes/skills available, to assist in finding other players through trade-chat and having the correct materials ready when you find that player to help.
This addon should be standard for each and every player of WoW, just as Recount or Deadly Boss Mods. I send my many thanks to the creative-team for the continued hard work on this addon!!!
ProfessionsVault v 7.0 is now available for download.
The horrible Blizzard TradeSkill hyperlink bug introduced in 5.4 remains, so some features are not functional - notably opening links to the tradeskills of offline toons will usually fail, and "All Recipes" links are no longer possible. PLEASE HELP COMPLAIN ON THIS NEW BLIZZARD FORUM THREAD.
Recipe coloring and auction house scanning should be fully functional.

I'm a completionist and I'm heavily relying on this addon when I'm buying recipes with my (alliance) AH toon for my (horde) crafter toons (or when looting in an old school raid). Is the feature that colors the recipes still working?
Could you put this in a separate addon if the rest goes downhill? Please keep this functional!
Thank you for your work!
This is because of Blizzard's broken change to the trade API, nothing the addon can do about this.
