Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

This isn't Rarity.
I'm sure this information is somewhere but I have not found it: I just aquired the Pureblood Fire Hawk like a week after I installed the addon. After looting it, I wanted to check how many attempts I was at and I was unable to see it, where would that be?
I am still see the attempts for mounts I did not acquire through the minimap button, but of course that one is no longer listed.
Go into Rarity options via the Interface Options menu, go to the Mounts tab, and find that mount. There you'll be able to see the attempts. Rarity removes the item from the tooltip once you find it.
Somehow this addon is causing some parts of the UI not being skinned by skinner addon.
I've reported this to that addon creator, but not getting much response from him.
Is there anything you can do on your part to find out what is causing this? Because I would like to keep using your addon but atm I cannot due to the compatibility issue with skinner..
There is no way I can think of for this to be the case. Rarity uses all standard libraries, with no UI of its own.
I'm not sure if this is a bug, a misconfiguration on my part, or perhaps another addon conflicting or interfering, but when I mine elementium nodes, it's counting two attempts at the Elementium Geode pet.
Hmm. I'll take a look, I think I have a miner to test with. It shouldn't be doing that.
Hey there, I can find a "hide tool tip delay" slidebar, but not a "show tooltip delay." Would it be possible to add this? It's kinda distracting when I accidentally mouse over rarity, and it pops open.
I could probably add that.
Hey just wanted to let you know that the Sting Ray pet from fishing pops up as being obtained when you collect 50 Drowned Mana. Yes, the pet costs 50, but you have to become friends with Margoss first, which takes a while. Thought I'd let you know!
Hmm, working as intended for now. Only solution is to remove that pet.
Hi. First of all, thanks for the awesome addon. I checked the FAQ for this answer and didn't find one: can I disable/hide the progress bar from my screen? I've tried every combo of clicks I can think of, and looked through all the config options in the addon and there's a lot of adjustments I can make to the bar such as hiding the text but no option to hide the whole thing. I don't need it and it's taking up space on my screen.
Also I can't seem to change what it's currently tracking. It's stuck on Invincible's Reins and nothing I do can change it or add additional things to the list.
Click the icon to turn off the bar. Click an item in the tooltip to change what the bar shows. Rarity automatically changes to whatever item you most recently attempted.
Awesome, thanks. I was clicking mounts in the list but the check mark wasn't moving. I discovered that I have to click a mount, move my mouse away from the list until it disappears, and then hover over it again to see the check update.
Oh that's a recent bug. I'll fix that. Thanks!
@camelot10
Click the icon or feed text to toggle the progress bar.
im enabled progress bar, and now i cannot hide it. long time ago progress bar can be hided by clicking same mount/pet/toy in rarity list. but now its not possible. progress bar stay on screen. how i can hide it ?
Hi !
Thanks for your usefull addon. I've a question about :
Why doesn't Rarity automatically add up all the Statistics across all my characters to arrive at a total attempt count?
Is there no way you can update stats when user switch from character to character ? You can get stats from current character, no ?
I juste install your addon, and have multiple attempt for multiple boss for multiple character ... tracking for old boss kill is not consistent for me.
Thanks again :-)
The answer to that question in the FAQ answers it. Rarity was not designed to do this, and solving that problem is extremely difficult. I haven't been able to yet. I'm working on it.
Keep in mind the problem is not as simple as you might think. For example, many attempts are counted not only from statistics, but also from coin attempts. There is no retroactive way to find those, and Rarity does not split them out in its data. Therefore, there is no mathematical way to retroactively combine multiple character's attempts together. If I do design a solution, it will ONLY work for brand new players. Anyone who has ever installed Rarity before will not be able to do it.
