Rarity
NEW:
- Support for Cataclysm Classic (experimental)
- Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

A few possible reasons I can imagine:
* Times are subject to change
* They aren't very useful for the vast majority of rares
* They can be easily looked up for the few cases where knowing the time is actually relevant
cant get it to announce attempts after kills in chat or says, as well as its not atking SS at all when items are found
In reply to heavendawn1:
same thing dude i hope that he wil fix it
It was recently shown on wowhead that you can get the Knockoff Blingtron pet from the Blingtron 7000 crates. Not just the 6k boxes. The addon currently only increments the counter upon opening the 6k boxes.
See below for people commenting with pictures for proof:

Thanks! I've added the other box to the database in the latest version.
i have some iussess with the addon when i do icc heroic 25 mode and the addon doesnt track the lich king mount attempts in chat and i went today after work some blackrock foundry on myhtic and i killed blackhand and the attempt on the mount doesnt also in chat and other mounts also
In reply to Forge_User_33376126:
You should probably first try to determine whether attempts aren't tracked, or just not displayed. Perhaps you've set it to not announce attempts? Or the items in question might be disabled?
If you've ruled this out, then you could try enabling /rarity debug before the attempt and see if something shows up that provides some hint as to why no attempt was added.
where can i find it the detemine on the addon
I suggest to add Badly Broken Dark Spear to the list of rare drops. It's a rare drop for Blacksmith quest.
In reply to AlexL1118:
Seeing how this isn't a collectible, it seems like an item you should add yourself via the "Custom" tab if you wish to track it.

No matter what I do, I cannot get the minimap menu to load when I hover over it. My game freezes for a moment when I first hover over and then the icon does not respond when hovered over. Any fix for this?

Can't help without a specific error message, I'm afraid. Enable script errors (see FAQ) and possibly /rarity debug. Also I suggest trying the latest (alpha/beta) versions if you haven't, it might already have fixed this problem.
In reply to Cakechart: Here is the script error I got!
Message: ...rface\AddOns\Rarity\Libs\LibQTip-1.0\LibQTip-1.0.lua:1021: script ran too long
Time: Fri Aug 21 19:05:25 2020
Count: 1
There was some more text but I figured the script running too long was the issue.
Please let me know how to proceed!

This is a known issue with the tooltip library Rarity uses, and unfortunately fixing it isn't exactly simple. As a workaround, you could disable (minimize) some unused item categories in the tooltip.
The problem is almost certainly that there are too many items being displayed, and it's not handled well by the addon (and said library).
After the weekly reset I saw that the number of attempts for a mount that I'm farming right now are kinda off. When I logged to the next twink I saw Rarity count attempts for several things just by logging in. This happened on every character. I tried to lower the number and even tried to set it to 0, but Rarity always seems to read some kind of log and puts it back way to high. What could cause that and can I delete that logfile?
In reply to Forge_User_59501095:
Most likely it's detecting statistics from your characters that haven't been accounted for yet, presumably because data was lost/reset or perhaps the character was renamed/moved to a different realm. Once all characters were logged in once, the count should be accurate if there aren't any duplicate entries (renamed characters etc).
In reply to Cakechart:
Hm the only thing that happened and comes close to character renaming or transfers is the realm merge. Could that have an effect? And is there no way to lower the attempts counter somehow?
In reply to Forge_User_59501095:
Characters are identified by their name and their realm, like "Mycharacter-Myrealm". If the latter part changed, then I'd expect the new ID to be considered a "new" character, which would explain why too many attempts are being counted (the old ones are still saved by the addon).
You can remove the stored data from your saved variables, but unfortunately there's no easy way to do it (automatically). I'm adding a button to the Advanced section of the options in the latest alpha, which should clear the accountwide statistics for all characters.
If this isn't enough, then we probably need an easier way to remove the remaining data (attempts, times, etc) from specific characters, which would require more work to implement. I'll think about a better way to do this, but in the meantime you could try if removing the statistics helps?
In reply to Cakechart:
Hey, manually deleting the stored data from my saved variables worked. Thank you! Sorry it took me some time to reply :).
