Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

I download this addon and its pretty nice but i cant open the menu of the second screenshot... ive seen videos of people using it, but it just doesnt shows to me, not in the minimap or anywhere... how can i open it ?
Can you describe which screenshot you mean? One of them is out of date. It shows two tooltips, one to the left and one to the right of the main tooltip. But Rarity doesn't look like that anymore. I need to update the screenshots.
Sorry, this one: http://media-curse.cursecdn.com/attachments/130/95/93ed1644049de075209802787d86b1e0.png
Yeah that's just an out-of-date screenshot. It doesn't look like that anymore.
Just wondering if there's a way to add multiple items to track on the progress bar? It might be me missing something but I would like to add multiple things to track. At the moment, I've only figured out how to add one thing and I've browsed through the comments and FAQ and couldn't find a solution.
Thank you.
Rarity supports up to two things being tracked simultaneously on the bar, but you can't do it yourself. Rarity will automatically show you two things at once if you're actually farming them simultaneously (i.e. from the same source). If not, Rarity will only show you the one thing you're farming.
Thought I'd ask anyway and thanks for the rapid reply.
I have noticed that when using this addon, my archaeology frame (default blizzard UI) bugs when I solve Arrakoa or Draenor clan solves. The UI looks like it is still for Arrakoa or Draenor clan, but it has actually pulled in the current Ogre solve. This never happens when I have the addon disabled. Not sure if there is a conflicting variable name or something going on, but its mighty frustrating to have to disable and re-enable.
I theoretically fixed that a few builds ago. Are you up-to-date with Rarity? Can you check and let me know?
Sorry about that, I thought I was updated. Looks good with the current version.
Thanks!
Someone in my group looted lil bling but it counts as defeated for me, is this working correctly?
Lil' Bling is marked as Defeated for the day when you complete the quests for either of the Blingtrons.
Hi so ive been using rarity for about a year now and I love the addon. I totally appreciate the work that goes into it and I have donated. That being said, I have a few things with mine that I don't quite understand. The main one being is that some of my defeated items don't show as being defeated in that column after I down them for the week. Ashes is one, smoldering egg of millagazor is another as well as 6-8 more. It counts them correctly and it's not a big deal, I just don't understand why the defeated column doesn't give me the notification. Is there anything I can do to fix that?
Everything that supports defeat detection has it. For Ashes and Millagazor, Rarity has technical limitations that prevent it from supporting defeat detection for bosses which exist in two instances simultaneously.
It seems that Rarity isn't counting the correct percentages for at least Gundrak Hatchling. It is a 1/1000 Dropchance, however Rarity counts each kill as a 0.05-0.04 Percentage. It should count 0.1 each kill. I am not sure what is causing this issue. But i keeps counting the same 0.04-0.05 per kill even if i manually lower the dropchance to 1/500 or raise it to 1/2000.Currently i am at 908/1000 Kills and the percentage shows 59.69%. Which is way off.SOLVED
That's not how the math works. Read this article: http://www.iamcal.com/beating-the-rng/
Ah ok makes sense then. Thank you for the quick response.
Hey Allara.
Undefeated/Defeated status is not showing up for Ashes of Alar or Smoldering Egg of Millagazor. I saw a post from a few months ago where you adressed something similiar to this. Any news?
Rarity can't currently support defeat detection for those items because the bosses exist in two instances simultaneously and Rarity wasn't architected to support that.
