- Support for Cataclysm Classic (experimental)
- Rarity now has a Discord server!

Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

For some reason this is not tracking kills for some things, like altrius. I killed him 5 times last night, and when I hover over it gives the tool tip, but after killing it doesn't count it. Not sure what I'm missing.
Not sure who Altrius is.
For all WoD rares Rarity shows loot info. But only mounts, pets & toys will be tracked.
You could add the item as a custom item.
Sorry, I got the name wrong... It's altairus. I've killed him 10 times now and it hasn't tracked any of the kills, says 0 attempts. I've tried changing the profile from default, but that didn't help.
Altairus should be working correctly unless Blizzard changed something recently.
Did you noticed this problem with other items too?
Just to be sure: did you actually loot the boss?
The method for Altairus is NPC therefore the tracking happens after looting.
Though you want the mount so not looting sounds a bit unlikely :D
In view of comment#866:
Could there be a problem with using the same npc id for different methods?
The problem is really sporadic. Some things it's tracked with no problems, and other things it doesn't count. The really weird thing I just noticed is that it says I have 1 attempt for Deathcharger's Reins, yet I've never done that. So I did a profile reset to try and clear things and right when I click reset, an on screen notification... Deathchargers reins: 1 Attempt.
Not sure what's going on here.
There is a statistic by blizzard for Lord Aurius Rivendare (the boss who drops Deathcharger's Reins) and this data is used to count the attempts.
Tested Altairus. Works fine for me.
Rekot24, you might check to make sure you don't have any loot add-ons running. These are known to interfere with Rarity and could be sporadic. These would be add-ons that modify your loot window or suppress looting entirely.
Maybe I am missing something, but I do not see Super Simian Sphere listed in the Toys section. Is it possible to add this?
Continent-wide world drops aren't part of Rarity because they're too spammy. You're welcome to add it yourself (if I remember correctly, that toy drops from any monster in all of WotLK, so you'd want to add it by zone; you also have to add every instance).
Thanks very much for the quick reply! I am just farming Naxx so able to add just those npcs.
Hi,
great addon that I have been using for years. Quick question about mount drops. I was in a group that had Spawn of Horridon drop, and rarity counted it as if I had looted it. Sadly, someone else won it but rarity still seems to think that I was the lucky one. Now I have farmed Horridon with my friend and rarity does not react when we kill it. It keeps count toward the kills but progress bar does not show it anymore. How can I make it visible again.
On mount tab, I have ticked the Track this and announces (like on any other mount that I do not have). Any idea how I can get Spawn of Horridon back to progress bar?
That's odd—that should have only happened if the mount landed in your bag. Checking "Track this" will bring it back. If "Track this" doesn't allow itself to be checked, it means you do actually have this mount in your spellbook.
I should also add that due to the "defeat detection" feature, Rarity won't put this mount back in the tooltip until next week, even if you check Track This.
Horridon dropped his mount again (and I won it) but no pop-ups, number of tries nor screenshots were taken by rarity. My friend who has also rarity installed got his "tries" reseted when we killed it, and after the weekly reset rarity would not count the kill for him, even he has "Track this" ticked. We did Horridon with several characters _after_ I got the mount, on the same week and one reset after (just to make sure).
So I assume there is something fishy going on with Horridon.
We had Elegon mount drop on the same week and my friend won it, and my rarity did count that try and the subsequent tries and the ones we have done after the weekly reset.
This isnt a huge deal at all and probably does not affect a lot of people, I just wanted you to know that there might be something wrong with the dino-guy in Throne of Thunder.
anyways,
Thanks for the great addon.
That is strange. I've tested him fairly recently and it worked, but I'll go test him again either this week or next. Note that if you already learned the mount, Rarity won't track attempts.
I know that rarity does not track mounts if you already know them, but in this case rarity bugged when mount dropped and I didnt recieve it. When it dropped again and i won it, my friends rarity started bugging (he does not have the mount either). Rarity reseted itself and now it wont show tries nor it does not count the tries. On all other mounts rarity has been working just fine, on Horridon it seems to bug.
Good day, goot addon you've made, would love to see a feature to remove groups from the search, don't want to see groups where people got fake description popping up for me. very annoying to get my chat spammed with this
Yeah it's a problem, I agree. I'll keep thinking on it. There isn't a very easy solution.
Rarity dont Track Timewalking doungeons mounts like Reins Of the Vitreous Stone Drake from Slabhide (stonecore) and Reins of the Drake of the North Wind From Altairus ( Vortex Pinnacle) How can i make it track them? :)
Do they drop in Timewalking mode? I'll get that fixed if so.
