Rarity
NEW: Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

Thx for he fast reply :)
There is a bug with the Ultraxion mount: Experiment 12-B Rarity tracks boss kills for this, and when you kill the boss the counter goes up by 2 instead of one
The mount however is not drop from the boss itself, but looted from the container that spawn when boss dies
You should change the tracking to the looting of container n° 210160-210161-210162 (Lesser Cache of the Aspects)
Thanks :)
We must avoid using world objects for detection unless absolutely necessary. There are only two places in the entire game where it's necessary. The next build of Rarity fixes the issue you mentioned with double-counting. Note that it will count the moment the boss dies, which is correct. If you forget to loot the cache, that's on you. ;)
Thanks for the fast fix :D
Love this add on.
Can you please add the Tol Barad Island for the Fox Kit that drops from the Baradin Foxes there? Thanks!
Baradin Fox was removed because you can buy it now. Feel free to add it yourself if you're farming it, but be aware it had a very low drop rate in Cataclysm (not sure if it was buffed) and it would be much faster to buy it.
Thanks. Actually got one today! I was so excited. Saved me a few weeks farming the things to buy it lol
Addon announces boss loot count before I even loot/touch the killed boss, its quite annoying
Many bosses will do that. It's working as intended.
today i mined a node near water in valley of four winds and got an attempt for sea turtle
today i noticed that the count for my recently obtained mounts has been reset now i figured this was do to a reset except the count for other unobtained mounts remains unchanged (like the headless horseman mount). Also i the fiery warhorse which i try for every week on 4 toons (and finnaly got this week on my last attempt) should say at least 4 since i havent reset since i got it but alas the count says 0. Also the count for cobalt primordial direhorn (the only 1 i have) is the only 1 with an incorrect count out of all the world boss mounts. in fact the count for most of mine mounts with a few exception says 0. from this i can only assume that the count for a mount gets reset when you obtain it. is this true? if so then is this something you could change? i get you can retrieve lost data but i would at least like to be able to keep data i have for future reference. also it would nice if rarity added the kills already tracked by the game on all toons for ALL mounts obtained from the respective bosses this currently (for me anyway) doesnt work for the ashes of alar and white hawk strider and possibly others. And on that note you could do the same for mounts that drop of bosses which are not in them selfs tracked by game but are part of an instance for which completion number is tracked by game (like skadi, anzu, slabhide etc) as its a pretty safe bet that if you completed that instance you probably killed that boss. now this wouldnt work if you only do the instance up to the boss but it would provide a better more stable (wont reset) estimate for attempts you made atleast assuming you do or did this instance regulairly when it was current.
Rarity does not intentionally reset your attempts when you obtain an item. I looked through my mounts, and I do see that most of them show 0 attempts. I'm not sure what happened there. I'll look into it.
Rarity will not use instance completion counts for attempt detection. As long as you actually complete an attempt for an item Rarity tracks, Rarity will track it. All items are detecting properly as far as I know. If you know of a specific item that is not detecting properly, please let me know which item has an issue.
Rarity allows you to adjust your attempt counts. Simply open the Options screen, find the appropriate item, and change it's count. You are welcome to alter your own counts as much as you want, if you have reason to believe Rarity has the wrong count (or if you have some way to know how many attempts you made).
using instance completion and game kill statistics to detect attempts was just a suggestion i thought using the game extensive recorded data would be a good way to improve rarities tracking but its nothing you cant do for yourself although alot of what addon does can be done for yourself we use this addons so we dont have to do that but i understand if you dont or cant do that i thought i would just put it out there its still a great addon no love loss either way
I noticed this item is not being tracked yet.
http://www.wowhead.com/item=86574/#.
Feel free to add the item yourself. This item is outside the scope of the Rarity defaults.
Thanks for maintaining this addon.
It seems that I can't get it to track my progress in timeless isle with a few exceptions like Houlon mount, looting of egg nests and water spirit pet. Other rares, like pet from death adder kills, doesn't track at all.
Am I doing something wrong? The addon works as expected in other areas.
Death Adder does not drop a pet. If you know of a specific item which is missing in Rarity, or which is in Rarity but is not tracking, please list the item(s) here, and I'll be happy to investigate.
Thanks for the quick reply. It was actually me looking at the wrong mobs for certain drops. The addon work just fine, sorry about that and thanks for a great addon once again.
Since it wasn't mentioned, the Death Adder pet drops from the Imperial Python.
Hi,
There's a bug where you addon "Re check" not collected on the pet journal :l not anything major perhaps BUT for those who wants to use npcscan to find certain batttle pet (like Unborn valkyr) it is a BIG problem, because pet journal cache all pets which trigger npcscan.
P.S for those reading this
If you like me and other pet hunters you probably have other addons, I have made a list of things that trigger npcscan that is for now
Rarity
PetTracker
PetJournal Enchanced
Took me a while to figure out which addon trigged the cached :l so I hope this helps other people
