Rarity
NEW:
- Support for Cataclysm Classic (experimental)
- Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

Just popped in to say I've been having this same problem on Jademist Dancers and Iron Horde mobs since the last update.
I'm having an issue with the 7.0 version of Rarity where Reins of the Infinite Timereaver is no longer on the list of potential mounts and it's no longer tracking kill count. After installing the latest WoD version of the addon, Reins of the Infinite Timereaver was added back to the list, but the kill count is still not being tracked. Most likely it's a conflict with another addon but it's hard to tell.
Reins of the Infinite Timereaver appears in the tooltip for me. Nothing about it has changed. I'll try to test detection for it later, but probably won't have time.
Any plans to add (Enchanting) Illusions to tracking?
Nope, only mounts, pets, and toys at this time. You can add any item you wish to it yourself, though! The tooltip is just too large and those items aren't universal enough to track by default.
An alpha build is out now to resolve the icons being wrong/missing on the progress bars. I'd appreciate it if someone tested this before I push it to release, as it required me manually updating an external library with a bug fix (normally not recommended, but this library hasn't been active in years).
Still working on the "achievement" problem—Blizzard 100% rewrote the achievement UI code in 7.0. Not sure if I can get it working yet.
Thanks for the update.
What are the numbers being printed to chat? Thank you for all of your hard work to make our in game time more manageable and fun!
They are the texture IDs of every item. I was trying to figure out why the bar wasn't showing the right icons. Haven't had time to dig all the way in yet, I suspect a bug in the ancient LibBars library that I'm using. Accidentally left the hard Prints in the code when I committed :) Serves me right for not using debug output!
Curse/WowAce are still having trouble packaging add-ons for delivery here. I tried tagging a fixed release last night, but it failed due to issues on their end. I've tried again and I see that it worked, but only part way. The download here should now remove the extra texture messages being printed to your chat.
There are still two known issues at the moment: a Lua error and no achievement when you obtain something Rarity tracks; and the icons in the progress bars are incorrect or missing entirely. I will be working on these over the next few days as they are tricky and my time is limited.
Thanks for using Rarity, and welcome to expansionland! :)
Will take a look, I probably missed a TOC update. Thanks for reporting it!
I think you tried to include the TOC update with 524b however the TOC is still 60200.
Thanks for the trouble!
The fix is in at Curse, but their packager is still having trouble. I tagged it again in the hopes that it builds this time.
Yep, works now, thanks.
I keep getting codes when I loot.

I'm getting this error code, even with the update. Maybe something on my end. Any help would be great. :)

Got two mounts from today's raids and I've noticed that there were no "automatic" man-made achievement and screenshot popup. Then I checked BagSack and found the error code.
4x Rarity\Core.lua:3103: attempt to call global 'AchievementAlertFrame_GetAlertFrame' (a nil value)
It also didn't stop tracking after loot mounts. Just wanted to let you know the bug. :)
Hi, I love this addon. Since the last update today, every time I log in or reload the ui, in chat rarity lists a lot of codes.
Example:
Rarity:134891
Rarity: 237397
It continues to go on and on. Is there a way to turn this off?
I'm getting a similar problem. Codes keep stringing my chat box:
Rarity: 237230
Rarity: 237230
Rarity: 237230
Rarity: 237230
Getting the same.
