Rarity
NEW: Rarity now has a Discord server!
If you're interested in following the development process or contributing, you should also check out the official GitHub repository. We're always in need of more hands to help us make the addon better!
Rarity tracks how many times you've tried to obtain various rare items like mounts, battle pets, and toys. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, and tell you how lucky you've been so far. Although it's mostly used for mounts, battle pets, and toys, it supports pretty much any item, including profession patterns, archaeology projects, and more.

Out of the box, Rarity includes support for every single mount, battle pet, and toy in the game which require some time to farm. It also includes support for some mount-related items like Skyshard, Primal Egg, and Giant Dinosaur Bone. It'll even notice if you mouseover a Mysterious Camel Figurine, plus lots of other stuff. Rarity factors in the size of a typical group when determining probabilities, and can also tell you if you've killed various bosses this week (or day). Holiday just started, and you didn't notice? Rarity will give you a helpful reminder to run those holiday dungeons or daily quests if you still need an item from them.
If Rarity doesn't track something you want to track, you can add it yourself! Just about everything is user configurable.
Curious what math is going on behind the scenes? The author of Bunny Hunter created the original algorithms. He wrote an article about it here. Your chance to obtain an item doesn't increase as you farm it; Rarity is just telling you how lucky you've been so far. It can be remarkably cathartic to see a progress bar move up as you spend hours upon hours trying for that Disgusting Oozeling.
Main features
- Rarity is primarily an LDB feed with a large tooltip. It can function as either a mini-map icon (you have to turn this on in the options), or as a standard LDB feed (use a display like Fortress, Button Bin, Titan Panel, or Chocolate Bar).
- Provides a progress bar, which you can toggle by clicking the icon or feed label.
- Adds info to NPC and item tooltips, showing you if it drops or contains something that Rarity tracks. Rare mobs with a guaranteed drop show which item they drop and if you've defeated them yet.
- Includes full source info, telling you how to obtain everything Rarity tracks.
Other features
- Share packs of items with other users
- Can automatically add waypoints to TomTom for certain items
- Uses statistics whenever possible to keep track of attempts
- Breaks your farming down by session, day, week, and month
- Looks at your instance locks to see if you've defeated various bosses recently
- Reminds you if you need to farm a holiday dungeon or daily quest, and hides holiday items that aren't available right now
- Supports bonus coin rolls
- Automatically screenshots when you obtain an item
- Keeps track of rare achievements like Frostbitten and Glorious
- You can add your own items to track
- Lets you modify your attempt count without having to edit saved variables
- Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter if you're switching
Slash Commands
Simply typing /rarity should open the options menu (unless disabled).
For troubleshooting issues:
- /rarity dump displays the most recent debug log entries (even if the debug mode is disabled)
- /rarity validate checks the consistency of your item database, including custom items (experimental)

ahh ok is there any way to import the full itemised database from wow to rarity? I assume it'll take forever to key in everything manually?
There are nearly 100,000 items in WoW, and I'm not sure why you'd want them all in Rarity. At the moment there is no import function.
ok i get you but it will be kind of useful when we mouse over a NPC we can see what it drops. in the near future will we have the import function? or something like that, even a built in database.
Not sure if there is any other addons that already have the database.
That's not what Rarity is for—it's not supposed to show you every single thing every mob drops. Use wowhead.com for that information.
righto, rarity is a great addon no matter......will have to go with wowhead.com for now thxs cheers
Hello
Is there a full item database for Rarity? I cant find it anywhere. Full database Example if i farm for Volatile Fire or etc etc.
Thanks
Gazi
Not sure what you mean?
You should get an LDB display if you want to use Rarity to its full potential. It's not really intended to be the best from the mini-map.
Nice addon, very useful for all kind of tracking.
The onyl bad point is that hovering over the minimap icon pop the window for the addon. You should make it open the window on click (left or right)
I had to remove the map icon personally, so impractical it was, because if I ever hovered over it by accident the window appeared and it could be very annoying.
I don't know much about addons, and I don't have a LDB, but I have the Norganna's slidebar which can show other addons icons for easier access. Some addons show up in it, others don't, I've no idea why, but if you guys could look into it or change the minimap icon to react on click it would be amazing
Greetings, I believe these new battle pets are missing:

http://www.wowhead.com/item=129216/vibrating-arcane-crystal

They drop from the Highmaul Rares. Apparently, the chance is ~ 1/10.
I am having an issue removing the progress bar , it only shows on screen for one character
Click the feed or the minimap icon to toggle the bar.
I was getting the same error (and also posted this error). I deleted all addons (don't have many though) and was getting the error as soon as I installed this one. So I deleted. A couple days later, I started getting the error again so I did some googling and saw that this has been on wow's forums though I didn't read all the posts, just the blue, it seems that they know about it. As of now, I have disabled the lua errors from popping up in the wow's options, which I hate doing but I hate the errors also. Hopefully it will get fixed so I can turn errors back on soon
Just a heads up that it isn't soley due to Rarity
*edit* I deleted my original error and log once I found out it wasn't soley due to rarity and is more likely a wow problem.
Yeah this is a bug in Blizzard's code. Rarity triggers it because it asks the server for your instance lock information, which triggers Blizzard's crash. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to correct this without totally disabling defeat detection for instance locks.
So I've been getting an error for several weeks now, just narrowed it down to having something to do with Rarity, because the error disappears if I disable that mod. The funny thing is it only happens on one character, but that also happens to be my only 100 that's unlocked Tanaan and Shipyard. It started sometime after 6.2 came out, but until Altoholic's Datastore was finally updated, I assumed it was related to that.
Anyways, this is the error I keep getting;
Date: 2015-08-24 12:02:10
ID: 1
Error occured in: Global

Message: integer overflow attempting to store 2175886788

That's all there is to the error message, not counting my active addons listed, though I can post those too if you need.
What happened, i lost all my kill tracks etc, suddendly after new release, rarity jumped from 520 to 1350 rare mount/pet/etc it says i have everything ... So i had to delete and reinstall, sad moment.
No idea. Nothing changed that could have messed with your attempt counts.
Ok, it s my and only my fault ! I found what happened, in fact it count the fang that you loot in fang'rila in Tanaan, as tryes to get the pig, so it s written 1350 collected. My bad.
I really love the new auto refresh, but I'm having some REALLY annoying issues with it.
I'll set it to auto-refresh with something like "doom" or "death" to look for the rares in Tanaan. It wil refresh but occasionally it will bring up every group that is currently listed. Similar to how it looks when you first open up the raid finder. It will then make the noise and tell me a group has been found.. but non of the groups match my search word. I've also seen it show me a group that matches my search but not make the noise, so I have NO clue I found a group unless I'm staring at it.
I can't reproduce this. I've been using it exactly the way you describe for a week and it doesn't behave that way.
