ReforgeLite
Overview
ReforgeLite is a lightweight reforging calculator that helps you figure out the optimal strategy to reforge your gear given your stat weights and caps without leaving the game.
The addon now has its own project page, located at http://www.rivsoft.net/projects/reforgelite/
Downloads are still only available through Curse page.
What to do if you're not happy with the results
The quickest way to get response is to e-mail me directly at [email protected]
Please describe your problem, and, most importantly, attach a debug log that you can find by scrolling to the bottom of the main UI window (the "Debug" button inside settings section).
How to use it
To open the addon window, type /reforge or talk to the reforging master. On the left half of the window you can see your current item stats for reference.
On the right side you can set up stat weights/caps, or select an existing preset (presets are regularly updated from http://www.noxxic.com, which in turn gets its information from Elitist Jerks).
In the simplified mode, you can specify the stat priority, along with up to two capped stats (each capped stats can have an arbitrary number of breakpoints). If you want more control, you can go into advanced mode and enter the exact stats specific for your gear, obtained from a tool such as SimulationCraft.
Behind the hood, simplified mode sets the lowest stat to a weight of 100, and each next stat adds 20. When you switch between the two modes, ReforgeLite converts your current weights to the other format.
When you're done setting up weights/caps, press Calculate. The calculations are fairly memory/time intensive, so ReforgeLite might trade some precision for speed, though the losses should be minimal. You can press the Calculate button a few times if you want to try getting a better result, the output will always display the best result so far.
Once the calculation finishes, you will see a section with your stats after reforging, and the difference from your current stats. Click on the Show button to see which items should be reforged.
If the reforging UI is open, you can click on the Reforge button to automatically reforge all items in the selected way. Do not interfere in the process (clicking the cancel button or closing the reforging UI is fine). Caution: I'm only human, so while I try my best, I can not guarantee that this process is absolutely bug free, so its recommended to watch over the process. If you leave to make some tea and come back to find it spending thousands of gold reforging your boots over and over again, don't tell me I didn't warn you.
FAQ: The results seem incorrect. I'm getting too much/too little hit/expertise/etc.
First of all, with Mists of Pandaria, expertise now affects spell hit, so it is not uncommon for casters to reforge into some expertise (on items that already have hit) to reach the cap, especially at lower gear levels. Note that ReforgeLite directly adds your expertise rating to hit rating, which is not the way it is displayed in the game, but it is more convenient when verifying the result.
Also, keep in mind that ReforgeLite uses your currently active spec to decide which stat conversions are in place, so if you're a Paladin trying to reforge your Protection gear while in Holy spec, you will likely get very little hit because it thinks you get enough from expertise.
If you are still not satisfied with the results, feel free to e-mail me (at [email protected]) with a brief description of the problem and a debug log (found at the bottom of the scrollable arera, in the options category).
FAQ: I'm using certain items for my off-spec and I don't want their reforge changed.
Simply click on an item icon in the large stats table, this will lock the item's reforge.
FAQ: More caps?
This is a very popular demand, and I'm sorry to tell you that it is not possible with the algorithm I'm currently using. I'm fairly sure the only other way to go is a brute force approach, which is simply way too slow to work in a Lua environment. There are plenty of external tools that employ it, such as http://www.wowreforge.com. I will be adding an import option in the near future to make it easier to use their results.
FAQ: Decimal weights?
You might notice that you can't enter anything besides digits in the weight boxes. This was done for simplicity's sake, and it does not limit you at all - you can multiply all your weights by a 100 (or whatever you prefer) to make them integers, and that would not affect the result at all.
FAQ: My reforge/results window isn't showing up. What do?
There are a few possible reasons.
First, ensure that the addon is enabled (and not marked as outdated if you haven't checked the box to load out-of-date addons). If the addon isn't loaded, you should get an error when trying to type /reforge in chat.
Second, try enabling Lua errors in the game options. If this causes error messages to show up when you try to open the reforge window, then send me the text of the error and I'll figure something out.
Third, it is possible that you accidentally moved the window off-screen. The easiest way to fix this is by deleting the addon config file located at <game folder>/WTF/Account/<your account>/SavedVariables/ReforgeLite.lua - this should reset the addon settings to default (make sure you're in game when doing that, or the file will simply reappear). This will also delete your custom weight and reforge presets - if you want to avoid that, you can try editing the said file, by changing the values of variables "windowX", "windowY", "methodWindowX" and "methodWindowY". Values such as 100 for X and 500 for Y should make the window(s) visible at least.
also, is it possible to add in a regem/enchant optimization option?
as of now, reforgelite only has 2 spriest haste breakpoints. unfortunately, there are more like 7. i have tried to use the advanced option and plug in the haste manually but it still tells me to reforge to the 10k hastepoint. is it possible to put all the other breakpoints up to 18400 in?
I didn't want to bloat the presets with all possible breakpoints, I just put in the most common ones (besides that was a while ago when you couldn't get much higher than that).
It shouldn't matter if you use advanced more or not, putting in the desired haste value in the cap amount field should do the trick. If it doesn't work for you, you could send me the debug log so I could look into it.
Regarding gems/enchants, I decided from the start that I won't be doing that, since it is fairly straightforward - just put in the gems that give the most value. Since you can't really automate the gemming process itself, an addon won't help you much here.
i update translate fo fr-FR ;)
Hi,
First Thanks for this great addon !
I think there's a problem with %t stats trincket (Immerseus trincket)
As a boomkin, it keeps me overcaped (11k hast instead of 10289 and spirit (= hit) too :/ )
It's kinda problematic, since i can manually performs some reforges on items ignored by Reforge lite because of the tricket.
Can you take a look to that please ?
(Sorry for my english i'm french btw) thanks and bye :)
I agree. I'm having trouble with it ignoring my spirit cap and giving me wacky calculations. I end up manually trying to reforge now.
does anyone know how to reset the ui of reforgelite? im playing on a laptop now and when i click calculate the small window to do the reforge doesnt show on my screen at all .... if its there its somewhere that i cant reach
It seems that the new trinket that provides % haste/master/spirit has still problems with spirit. It tells me to reforge other stats than spirit though i have a hit above 16%
May I ask you why you can not choose the "to" option on more than hit and expertise? I find this highly annoying. I think this works on some chars but not all. the tick box just does not exist on those, even if i remove and recreate, or take advanced. This is on a rogue.
edit: oh ok , just found out, seems you can not choose more than 2 ticked at the same time? why not? i want to set hit expertise and crit to a certain value, but when i untick one of the hit or expertise, the "to" box appear on the other values.
Is there some way to force the addon to allow me to get to hit cap using a mixture of spirit and hit? I have some items with hit on them and it's making me unable to use the addon as there is no way to tell it to view hit and spirit as the same stat.
Is there any way that it can be made to let us put in a % instead of a hard number for crit? Im a frost mage and crit cap at 23% before raid buffs and since intel also effects crit its hard to put in a hard number not knowing how much a new piece of gears intel is going to also effect the crit.
it would be nice if on advanced you could set thresholds for more than 2 stats, as a hunter i want hit/exp to min, but also want to be able to set a haste threshold...
for my monk i have to keep hittin calculate and reforge and then it makes me have to keep reforging stuff and changes and everything
The new trinkets that provide % haste/master/spirit are causing this to give incorrect results. I just tested it and it appears that the addon isn't taking into account the extra % you're getting.
I set my haste cap to 6638(Just using an example) on my affliction warlock for the haste breakpoint. WITH the trinket on it says I'm reforged optimally, but I have a few hundred extra stats on each. When I take the trinket OFF, my stats are exactly where they should be.
Just tested this with my resto shaman as well, as I was having problems maintaining proper haste/mastery levels and it's the same situation. If I take the trinket off my reforge is exactly right. Putting the trinket back on just results in worthless stat points because it won't consider it in the intial calculations.
i just spend 320g for reforge. the money gone and nothing happened. so carefull!!!
for some reason the addon gives me too much hit and doesnt get me to the right haste point withthe trinket. im comparing this with mr robot and that works fine. if i take out the trinket my stats are exaclty at the hit cap and haste cap. it seems reforgelite took my haste and hit subtracted the7% and then reforged. shouldnt it reforge with the7%
is it possible to add an option to pick between 25man and 10man stats? for some classes, it's not the same.
If you are having issues with reforge results, please e-mail me the debug log which can be located at the bottom of the settings section. It is impossible for me to tell what's wrong just by the description, and currently barely play WoW so I don't get any of these errors myself.
I have no way to test the new trinkets especially, so logs with those would be very helpful (please put that in comments since I'm not sure if the log would have info about that).
I've got the latest release. For my shadow priest I select the default 10,124 haste cap, and reforge. I have 628 haste in excess. I checked and I have items that could be reforged into things other than haste. My neck item is crit and spirit. It is reforging that extra spirit into haste over mastery. Exact same stat issue with my cloak and gloves. Mender's Battletags 0/2, Dreamweaver Drape 0/2, and Bolt-Buster Grips 2/2 (flex version).
Thanks.
Note: Also sent this in email. Email sent back with delivery failure.
1.35 works, kinda of, eventually. It at least works better than either of the 2 latter releases
1.36 and 1.37 do not work for me
1.36 doesn't even load when u open up the reforge screen
1.37 is giving random results when setting caps for certain stats, and I can't find a way to even make it come close to what I'm wanting. Set a haste cap for 7170 and it will either put me at 6800ish or 7700 ish
1.37 works fine for stock Ret Pally priority, but when I change priority for Holy it goes all bat shit
