Shadowed Unit Frames
SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.
However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.
Shadowed Unit Frames in WoW Classic
There is in-development Beta versions available for WoW Classic!
Note that WoW Classic does not provide all the information that you might be used to:
- There is no Focus Frame
- Information about the HP of enemies is not available, and they'll show as 100 HP
- Cast Bars for anyone but the player himself are not available
- Debuffs have no duration information
Some of this data can be restored with additional libraries/addons, but it'll always be guesswork and potentially inaccurate. Shadowed Unit Frames comes bundled with LibClassicDurations for debuff durations. Mob HP can be provided by Real Mob Health, which you need to install manually.
Note on copying your layout from Retail to Classic:
In general you cannot copy your layout between the two versions, since they are quite different, and doing so will result in certain elements exclusive to one version (like Pet Happiness on Classic) not always working properly. There are some provisions in the code that makes copying from Retail to Classic mostly work, use at your own risk - however, never copy a Layout from Classic to Retail, this will absolutely result in the Class-specific power bars and other elements not available on Classic to cease to function.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.
Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.
Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.
Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.
Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:
Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT

Features
- Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
- Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
- Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
- Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
- Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
- Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
- Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
- Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
- Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
- Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
- Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle
Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.
Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Ah, awesome. Hid the party frames nicely there.
Thanks heaps for picking this up, btw. :)
When you turn off "Use Raid frames in Party" in the Blizzard Interface Options, you'll at least get the party frames to hide. Raid Frames will need to be fixed. You can hide the frames themself from the Raid Control Panel at the left side of the screen. However the panel cannot be hidden right now.
Don't get me wrong, there is still alot of work to be done before we can call it "fixed" for 4.0. We wanted to release the alpha version we had so people still hanging on actually had some more working frames, even when they don't work all the time.
I do hope to get alot of stuff ironed out over the weekend.
Although now I have the default blizzard frames as well as SUF frames in party and raid. I am a terrible person.
Also, magnets, how do they work?
However, by posting that I had no errors, magically everything is better.
I also loaded WoW with a fresh WTF and only SUF installed again, then went back to my old WTF and whole plethora of addons.
So basically I am like a fat man who trips over a banana and lands in a chair. No idea how he got there, but damned if it's not comfortable.
@Nev: not getting any errors, sorry.
Hello at first to the Authors,
we at the Guild are happy to read that the SUF is continuing the development óf its Addon SUF. This is the best Addon for WoW's interface there is! :D
We are Located in germany and play on a EU Server and want to support you with as much infomation as possible. So if you need Translations or other type of info we are glad to help.
Best regards from Germany

I tried out Simplistic for a couple days and things with that addon were fairly good. Quite good to be honest. Aviana doesn't have raid frames and party frames done yet but does have the Soul Shard and Holy Power implemented. Maybe a collaboration would help in getting the work done.
Additionally, I have tested Shadowed. The party and raid frames work. I did notice some issues. Party didn't display in a random dungeon until I did a /reload ui. I also went into Wintergrasp and the raid frames appeared with no hassle. However, I got severe lag spikes when people joined the raid. I sat and watch when the lag spikes occurred and it was upon people entering the raid. I wasn't near the spawn point so I know it wasn't just from over-crowding of the area. Just something to look into.
Do you get any errors?
I'll run some more tests on party/raid when i get home. But considering they work for some people here, it does not seem to be a general problem.
Do you have any especially weird setup?
I have yet to setup a testing profile for myself which uses all of the options that my playing profile usually doesn't use. Expect alot more work over the weekend.
My roommate is having the same issues as @Sisgmund and @evergamer. My SUF party and raid frames are working perfectly but my roommate's SUF party and raid frames won't show up whatsoever. We are pretty lost as to what the problem could be.
I am so pumped this mod is back. Keep up the good work.
Could it have something to do with the Zone Configuration?
So I did all that. Still no raid/party. removed my interface/wtf folders. ran the cleaner again to verify. still no go.
and I just switched back ;) As much as I appreciated Aviana's work, Shadowed Unit Frames is being continued under its original name and has Shadowed blessing. Maybe Aviana can be involved here? just a thought
@evergamer: even with a fresh download sometimes certain saved variables or lua .bak files may interfere with the fresh install. prior placing the folders (SUF and SUF Options) into your addons folder, make sure all those variables are deleted via a method i suggested below. also, once you made some changes to SUF, see if you can log out and log back in (complete restart is not necessary), sometime changes made to configs won't show up until after relog (or perhaps /reloadui)
I'll probably just play Hungry Hungry Hippos.
hmm sorry :/ virtual machine Win7? :)
I'm on a Mac, so crap cleaner isn't much help. Thanks for the idea though. :)
Do a search on wowinterface for an addon called "wow crap cleaner". It's an executable, and once started do "search" to populate all the addons and variables you have. I advise deleting .bak files as well as leftover settings and any residual variables you have prior installing the new version of SUF. I had to re-configure the new SUF after a fresh install, as I too had Simplistic installed prior, but deleted all the settings since this addon got raid and party to work first.
Yeah, I can't get raid frames to turn up even with a fresh WTF and only SUF installed.
I did use Simplistic, and did the rename thing on a copy of my SavedVariables, then kept them both around once Shadowed got updated again.
But even with as clean a slate as I can manage I can't get party or raid frames.
I'll be ticketing it but I seem to be pretty solitary on my problem (barring evergamer, 'sup dude). Not too fussed because everything else works (player, target, even boss (which is a subset of raid)), but I do miss my good looking UI.
Hmm...I still don't see any party or raid frames. the config is there, but they aren't on my screen at all. I double checked the anchors too, and anchored them to the screen/center.
Also completely removed the folders in the addons folder, and re-downloaded.
