Shadowed Unit Frames
SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.
However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.
Shadowed Unit Frames in WoW Classic
There is in-development Beta versions available for WoW Classic!
Note that WoW Classic does not provide all the information that you might be used to:
- There is no Focus Frame
- Information about the HP of enemies is not available, and they'll show as 100 HP
- Cast Bars for anyone but the player himself are not available
- Debuffs have no duration information
Some of this data can be restored with additional libraries/addons, but it'll always be guesswork and potentially inaccurate. Shadowed Unit Frames comes bundled with LibClassicDurations for debuff durations. Mob HP can be provided by Real Mob Health, which you need to install manually.
Note on copying your layout from Retail to Classic:
In general you cannot copy your layout between the two versions, since they are quite different, and doing so will result in certain elements exclusive to one version (like Pet Happiness on Classic) not always working properly. There are some provisions in the code that makes copying from Retail to Classic mostly work, use at your own risk - however, never copy a Layout from Classic to Retail, this will absolutely result in the Class-specific power bars and other elements not available on Classic to cease to function.

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.
Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.
Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.
Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.
Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:
Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target
Features
- Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
- Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
- Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
- Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
- Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
- Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
- Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
- Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
- Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
- Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
- Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle
Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.
Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.
Feedback
For feature requests and bug reports, please continue to use the Ticket tracker. Feel free to ask on the thread first, if you're unsure what to do!
You can configure the growth direction of the soul shards. For colors, i'll get to those. I just wanted to have it working first, so i just went with the combo point colors.
All of the new modules are basically quick solutions to get them working.
I know its still early, and thanks ahead of time for adding in the Soul Shard interface.
Now for a couple feature requests. 2 main features I currently don't see options for concerning the Soul Shards. First is a way to customize the color of them. I, like many others, would prefer they be a purple/pinkish color to go more with a Warlock them.
Secondly I would like an option for the fill order, like for example in Simplistic Unit Frames a used Soul Shard would deplete the right slot first, but in Shadowed a used Shard depletes the left first. I prefer it depleting from the right hand side as this just makes more sense since that is the same side health depletes from and so forth.
Anyway, thanks for getting Shards added in, and they seem functional so far with no bugs to report.
Let me make a suggestion on the Holy Power.
Make it a static display. Having it appear and disappear upon gaining and losing power causes the whole frame to adjust in size. All the other bars expand and contract based on whether the Holy Power bar is present and holding stacks.
@ Cosanoztra
Thanks for your reply! But I think you miss my point. I've separated the raid frames but I can't still have more then 4 groups on the same column! What I want is 5 Groups in 1 column from top to bottom, like this: http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/2420/wowscrnshot032110233716.jpg And this seems impossible to achieve using thouse options! Also it would be imba if you could provide a way to hide the ugly blizzard raid interface tab :P
thanks!
This might not be the place for it, but had a question about customizing colors:
I'd like to change the default colors for certain bars (health and power bars mostly) to the same colors I've used for a long time in my old ag_unitframe setup. However, SUF's interface for changing colors doesn't allow for precise or numeric inputs. Is there any way I can modify the defaults in SUF's .lua, or perhaps in its saved variables, to get the colors where I'd like?
Is anyone else having an issue with incoming heals? I am trying to get it configured, but it looks like it is commented out in the toc file.
would it be possible to have them coloured or be able to change the resource bars for lock and pally, as i pref a purple pinkish one for my lock and a yellowish one for my pally, don't have a druid yet..
Hello! Thanks for the espectacular work with this addon! I've been playing with SUF since 4.0.1 once ag_unitframes completly died. Now that both party and raid frames are working again, I'm missing a Key funtion that I loved in aguf. Is there by any means possible to make each of the Raid Groups movable? I'm used to have main 5 groups from top to bottom as only one collum (25 player Raid) as it saves a LOT of user interface space. Here's a screenshot that can explain this: http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/2420/wowscrnshot032110233716.jpg
EDIT: Or just allow the collumn to grow down aswell, maybe that can make a similar effect!
Cheers and sorry if this is the wrong section to post :(
Good point on the profile test and Hidden Bar. Maybe a nap after work is best for me. :)
Turns out, that was my fault. Its fixed in the latest version ( v3.2.12-36 )
And yeah, holy power shows up when you actually have holy power. No reason to show an empty bar all the time. It was just the config being hidden when it shouldn't be.
BTW, you don't have to wipe your settings to test this. Just switch to another profile on the main General -> Profiles tab. You can switch back to your playing profile after testing easily =)
Well I did find out that Holy Power appears when I use my first Crusader Strike or really when the first Holy Power is gained. The option just isn't available to control it.
Holy Power isn't showing up for me either, even after a complete settings wipe.
It looks like I can't see the Holy Power Option under Player > General. First guess is I have to create a blank profile for it to show up, but if there's another option I would take it over reconfiguring. I do however see the Widget Size options for it.
It should be on Player -> General.
And for some weird reasons, you can switch it between bar and non-bar on the widget-size tab.
I should add some logic into that positioning =)
With the latest version that included Holy Power, will this addition not work correctly with profiles that existed pre-4.0.1 or am I missing a setting? Under options and Player > Bars, I do not see a button for Enabling Holy Power but I could be overlooking where it is located.
Ok v3.2.12-32 is up with the new modules.
I implemented Holy Power, Soul Shards and Eclipse.
The new version will be up shortly, there are some technical difficulties with the upload of the new code right now ... <.<
Just confirming that the latest version (v3.2.12-24-g5c64f2c) does in fact not have holy power or warlock shards implemented yet. If that is incorrect, could someone please indicate how I can get these to show up? My scouring of the configurations yielded no result. If this is correct, do you know how long it will be before these are added? Thanks.
does anyone want to take a shot at updating ShadowedUF Aura Indicators : )
