Is this suppose to happen? How to make it save the same settings across characters?
I'm getting the following error on startup with v12:
"InterfaceAddOns/SimpleMinimap/SimpleMinimap.lua:226: attempt to index field 'framePos' (a nil value)"
/smm still brings up the command list, but none of them seem to work.
it does set the alpha every time smm_update() is called, which definately happens when you load. are you lowering the alpha again afterwards? i do need to find some code to raise it to 1 when inside...
Whenever I load the game, my minimap is covered in black.
I have to manually do /smm alpha 1 to clear out the black thing.
Any way to automatically do this upon loading?

ya, i did get them to all stay by hooking a couple events and overridign a couple functions. but, as i look through the other mover mods like MoveAnything and BibMod, i don't see any special hooking for these events/functions. so there's something i'm missing to keep it nice and simple. I'll find it eventually, was just hoping someone would save me some time =). thanks for the input!
One time I've had this problem myself. I was creating a addon of some kind (can't remember what it was right now), and I needed to move the durability frame to a new location.
I belive you'll need hook on to the UPDATE_INVENTORY_ALERTS event and "move" the durabilty frame each time it's called, and replace the new location with the saved one. Perhaps I'm wrong... if you know it, please correct me.
beta version with the code to move the three frames mentioned below is posted. frames are resetting whenever any of these three frames are changing, not sure why yet. been beating my head against it for a couple days, but i can't seem the magic work to make them stick...
anyone out there with a little coding experience wanna help me troubleshoot the newest version? i'm made some handles for the DurabilityFrame, Ques****chFrame, and QuestTimerFrame (the 3 frames anchored to the MinimapCluster) to move them around seperatly. i'm decent with the LUA, but seem to be having a harder time manipulating the XML to stay where i want it. basically just a mini MoveAnything that only handles those 3 frames.

How would I go about removing the border texture or replacing it with something a bit simpler. I like SMM but would prefer the minimap w/o the border.
i installed BibMod and moved some stuff around, but did not touch the minimap. i ran around, zoned, logged, etc. the minimap did not move. looks like you need to delete your BibMod settings in the WTF folder and BibMod will stop trying to move your minimap.
as for MoveAnything, i use this mod all the time as my UI mover.
obviously, mods that move UI elements could conflict with this mod if they are also trying to move the minimap or parts of the minimap. i can't do anything about this. with MoveAnything the answer is simple, just open the control panel and reset the minimap elements to let sM take over. BibMod doesn't seem to have a reset feature, so you'll need to delete settings and not touch the minimap.
MoveAnything is the culprit for me. But I guess it does indicate that several mods conflict with the position lock.
I disabled all add-ons except SMM. Everything worked beutifully.
Logout, enable BidMod (all 4 parts) only. Login, lock function fails and map positioning resets on UI reloads. Don't need to go out of your way to fix this conflict. Just figued I would try to help find any conflicts if I can. :)
sM's lock feature only keeps sM from moving the minimap, not any othe rmods. it's pretty easy to figure out if it's sM or a conflict with another mod...
login to your account, before choosing a character click on the "AddOns" button, click on "Disable All", check off "simpleMinimap" (no other mods should be checked), and click "Okay". select a character and login. do whatever it is you do that moves the minimap -- zone, relog, visit the AH, whatever.
does the minimap still move or reset?
if another mod is moving the minimap....well, i can't change the other mod obviously. if there's a conflict i can resolve somehow (like tricking Titan into thinking CleanMinimap was loaded in v5) then i need to know exactly which mod is causing the movement.
in order to be able to report exactly which mod is causing the conflict you will need to re-enable your mods _one at a time_ (not 1, then 2, then 3, just _1_ at a time) along with sM and let me know which mod is conflicting.
I also am having the minimap reset its position. However, I have it doing it on any zoning or UI reset. SMM's lock function does not work for me either. I am using BibMod which allows moving of the minimap and I suspect that the move funtions of these two mods are conflicting. BibMod is the only other add-on that I am using that interacts at all with the minimap other than some that add icons.
Don't know if you can "fix" this. Just posting so you are aware of the issue.
I use smm to reposition the minimap (amongst other things), but I've noticed it never stays where I put it. It always ends up back in the top right corner (with the close button slightly off-screen). I can't identify anything specific that makes it reset, although I did witness it pop into the corner after opening the AH dialogue screen. I closed the AH, repositioned the minimap, opened the AH window again to confirm that was the cause, but it didn't move the second time.
Very strange.
corner skin from dLx added as a square map, so the buttons won't follow the map on the bottom-left corner.
@asnassh - i don't think it would be this mod. i don't change anything with the default frames, i just modify them once the player enters the world. no mod means no modification. look for another mod hiding the zoom buttons.
Could you add Cornerminimap skin to ?
When I delete this mod, on minimap, zoom in/out and time didnt show again...
