I can't get profile settings to work at all. I scrolled down and it looks like other people are having problems too. Really I just want to push a button to toggle profiles. How might I go about setting this up?
Right now I have 2 profiles, but when I switch a profile, it takes a full minute to wake up and actually change it.
Edit: Now I can't get it to change profiles at all anymore. it says it's changed, but the changes never happen
Edit2: If I disable and re-enable smm it loads the new profile correctly, but I don't know how to do that quickly.
ackemaan, you just need to 'touch' the buttons. SMM leaves the minimap buttons alone until you move them for the first time.
ReX, if you're having problems getting Ace2 mods to play nice, make sure they are all current versions. may help to delete the Ace2 library folders and d/l the stand-alone.
Hey,arjuna,I want to talk about SMM with u,and I sent the message here, login in here please.
Thank you for this sweet addon! Anyone know if you can get those other addons around the map loose somehow. When i make the map as a square the other addon buttons stays as a circle. Im still a noob on this one working my way to pro ;)

screen stretch ....no bueno
definitely a pain. needs a fix for an othewise wonderful piece of code.
thanks.
thanks alot dood. works great.
i love this mod btw. everytime i log in/out or go into an instance, or even change zones, though, the minimap stretches across the top of the screen in a thin line. i made a macro to fix it.
/smm reset /smm scale 2 /smm lock
before macro http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/796/81934864bs3.jpg
after hitting macro twice and hitting cancel http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/1208/35566383ax9.jpg
i click it twice so it locks back in place and i hit cancel so it dosent really reset it. but this is EXTREMELY annoying and i dont think its supposed to do this. lol.
any advise?
sibbor, what kind of artifacts? i don't imagine there's any way at all to move a frame without using Blizz's functions... DX10 or your video card drivers maybe messing with you.
Under Windows XP everything seems alright, but under Windows Vista I get weird artifacts using sMM. I'm using a nVidia GF 8800GTS (with latest drivers... still not optimal). I've got around 100 addons, but it's only sMM that's causing these errors.
I bet there's a few bugs in Blizzard's functions that you use for scaling or whatever. I think I'll have to wait for them to fix it, but I'll tell you either way.
feilang999, excellent. i will get that in to the SVN tonight.
acapela, i use FuBar without 'lockdown' enabled and without issue. 'lockdown' is kind of a hack, it locks other mods out of the Minimap moving functions by renaming them. there's an option in FuBar to keep FuBar from moving UI frames (such as the minimap), and you can turn that off. i've messaged the Titan author requesting a similar feature in Titan awhile back, but never recieved an answer. and having a nil mapPosition setting should be fine, that just tells SMM not to try and move the minimap (this is the default setting).
Hey,arjuna, about simplified Chinese translates, I have done a little fix and updated!Issue you with Gmail, have you received my email?
edit: changing zones also make simpleMinimap run amok for me. the "lockdown" option seems to fix this.
edit: problem occurred again. inspected the .lua files. the difference between a "good" simpleMinimap config and a "bad" simpleminimap config seems to be: a "good" config results from unlocking and dragging the minimap around, so that there are absolute coordinates for its position embedded in the .lua file (i.e. a "smmConfig.profiles.<profile_name>.mapPosition" element exists).
edit: you are correct, it is Titan Panel that is inducing this behavior. it also runs amok with FuBar active as well, to a lesser extent.
i played at random with all of the following: simpleMinimap's "lockdown" and "lock minimap" options, Titan's "Disable Screen Adjust" option, and FuBar's "Auto-adjust frames" option.
i got it to work on one account, could never get it to work on another account, even with all settings the same. as an experiment, i copied the working account's "simpleMinimap.lua" saved variables file to the one that did not work, and the one that did not work magically started working. sadly, i had wiped the saved variables files for the account that did not work, so i cannot compare the two. if it runs amok again, i will save the "broken" one for comparison.
i am using Titan Panel v3.0.5.20003 (which is the most recent i can find), and FuBar 2.0.24665.
hope all this helps.
my most recent post, in response to yours, follows.
nope.
re-installed v20003-5, made the following changes to the "default" profile:
scale to 1.25 changed coordinates separator string to ' / ' set "lockdown"
same behavior. i did not go through all the stuff i did before trying to establish profiles and etc.
when i get a chance to go troubleshoot (should be possible in the next day or two), i will focus on titan first, see if enabling simpleMinimap and titan result in the behavior, before i move on to trying to isolate the problem elsewhere in my mod collection.
acapela, use Titan? enable the 'lockdown' option to keep Titan from bumping the minimap (the minimap being bumped off the screen seems to be what causes the minimap-take-over-the-entire-screen).
using v20003-5.
a number of problems. remembering options between sessions, using profiles, none of this seems to work. i use a UI scale.
configuring a visible/well-formed minimap generally works pretty well, for the duration of that session. logging out/in results is mayhem, alternating between no minimap at all and a giant blob on the screen.
"/smm reset" alone generally has no effect, or results in the giant blob on the screen. subsequent "/smm reset" attempts will merely walk the giant blob around the screen. to rectify this, i must reset AND log out/in again.
i have tried creating profiles, using both the default picklist for characters and custom profiles. there is no effect. selecting a profile using slash commands has no effect (the minimap remains absent, or remains a giant blob, etc).
as well, i notice that even when appropriately scaled and placed (i.e. not in the form of a giant blob), the minimap relocates to the top center of my screen when i log out, as part of the logout process. after that, logging in again generally generates a giant blob, until i reset and log out/in again.
deleted my saved variables, downloaded, and installed 20003-4/2/1... all of them also exhibit these artifacts in various combinations.
i suspect there are synergies with other mods happening here. i run a boatload of them, including a number that mess with unit frames on and off the minimap (xperl, groupcalendar, buttonbag, etc). if 20003-4 works OK in isolation, i should be able to enable/disable mods a few at a time until i zero in on the one(s) that are breaking simpleMinimap.
i will try to experiment and isolate, and get back to you here.
What format do you need? tga? jpg?
Do you need a single image that would be rotated or do you need multiple images that are rotated by a set degree?
Here are two compasses that I made for my DAoC popular UI: http://home.comcast.net/~j.massa/images/shazcompass1.tga http://home.comcast.net/~j.massa/images/shazcompass2.tga
it's probably just that the minimap was moved off of the screen which seems to be what causes the huge-minimap-covering-the-whole-screen thing. try resetting your profile with '/smm reset'. there's new math to place the minimap in an attempt to compensate for changing UI scales.
Taldren, if you want to provide new arrow art i would be happy to include it in SMM.
I also have this problem. Minimap fills the screen, causes a WoW crash error.
