Utopia
Utopia
(aka: ZOMGDebuffs)
With today's high-end boss fights so tuned for absolutely maximum performance, it's important to know exactly what you're getting from your raiders. Do you have all buffs and debuffs available? Are the all improved? Are they active during the fight? Need to see that they were kept up during the fight?
WoW 3.0 introduced a whole new stacking system for buffs and debuffs. Add to that the myriad of hidden auras that are implied by talents, but don't appear on the tooltips. It's near impossible to look through that ever moving mess of debuffs on a target. It's just too much too look at. Nor should you have to.
So, here's Utopia. It will give you a very concise and clear view of your buffs and debuffs (see the buff display pictured below). With a fixed number of icons, which don't move or change. They'll simply be highlighted in red if missing; otherwise faded if unavailable, bright if present, yellow if present but unimproved, and so on.
Clarity is the key, and how fast you can answer yourself any questions mid-fight. I play a rogue, and because our warriors slack (they like to pretend to dps and moan about Sundering), we can very quickly see whether Sunder Armor is applied and, if it's absent, throw Expose Armor into our cycle. The icon is always in the same place, and always means the same thing.
The Display
An arrangement of icons showing the 'classes' of debuff, rather than the traditional specific debuff icons. For example, you will have one single icon representing Sunder Armor and Expose Armor. You don't care which is applied, only that it's there. The same applies to all the myriad of other buffs and debuffs which are now grouped into doing the same job.
By default, these icons are presented thusly:
- Dimmed - Your group can't apply this aura
- White - Debuff applied
- Yellow - Your group has applied this aura but it is an unimproved version. Do you feel dirty?
- Red - Your group can apply this aura, but hasn't
- Blue - Aura is unavavailable because of a conflicting spell (Blessings, Curses etc.)
Mousing over any of the icons will show the potential of the raid. Highlighted lines show what your raid can do. A Tick shows it's done, a cross means it's not. Next to this you get the values for the auras, and if that's different from the maximum your group can do, this is shown.
Anything unavailable will always show the maximum potential value of a debuff with all improved talents, whereas when something is available it will show the maximum that could be done by your raid.
The progress bar will show the percentage that has been debuffed for a quick at-a-glance view.
Standard buff tooltips are enhanced to show you the real values that you're getting from your raid member's buffs.
Up-Time Module
The new debuff Up-Time recorder will record a fight, when auras are applied, removed, by whom. The DPS for the fight, deaths and significant boss events so that you can examine the timeline of your fight after the fact.
Donations
While donations are not ever expected they do help, and recent donations by a kind few are one of the reasons I have returned at this time to resume work on this and other mods. Please do consider how worthwhile Utopia is to you and help to continue it's support into the future.

Thanks for the update Zeksie,
scanning works now and I have not gotten LUA errors, however critical mass is still not recognized (at least for me). Maybe a wrong spellID? The warlock version (shadow and flame) works perfectly..
keep it up
Dalaran Brilliance isn't showing up as an Arcane Brilliance equivalent. Its spellID atm is: 79038
I also keep getting
Utopia-1.0.$Revision: 212 $\Utopia.lua:1780: attempt to index field 'spellPotential' (a nil value)
errors even tough I confirmed like a 100 times that I'm using r235
might be due to the fact ywfn that (at least for me) it still doesn't correctly read the talents of mages :/.
Edit: It does work for you Zeksie? Than I have to look for an addon conflict on my side, not that I ever had one with utopia though....
The Critical Mass debuff from Fire Mages isn't being detected correctly in the current version. Correct spellID is: 22959
Fixing some issues atm:
And if someone wants to track down some calcs for the amount values that would be ace. Thought I'd found some for Stamina and a couple of others but they're not correct. Bit busy at home atm with xmas coming and all that. :)
Will keep an eye on the talent issue a couple of you have. Not had any problems myself...
I have noticed that specifically it cannot get the talents for players of the same class as me. I'm a mage and talents of all players are scanned apart from the 3 mages in the raid (including me)
Same problem here, I think? Was seeing "Talents 0/1" or whatever as the header of the Utopia windows, when solo.
edit: Lately with the current version, I'm having trouble getting Utopia to show up at all, even when "Always Show" is selected. Have gotten it to appear a couple times, by playing with checkboxes a lot (and deleting all my Utopia SavedVariables files), but only the buff window appears (not debuffs), and when I mouseover it, I get an error about spellPotential. Seems to usually come up once I actually start combat, but it used to be possible to get it to show up while solo out of combat as well.
edit2: On a plus note, the weird aura bug from a while ago seems to be gone, I always see my own Arcane Tactics buff on myself now, for the last 2-3 days.
since 4.0.3a talent scan isn't working properly for me (can't even detect my own talents). Anyone else having this or might it be an addon conflict?
Also confirmed Honor Among Thieves isn't working, correct spellID is: 51701
Elemental Oath isn't working, its correct spellID is: 51470
Blood Frenzy is not listed under Physical Vulnerability debuffs.
Rampage (and probably other passive group talents) shows as inactive even when you are a Fury Warrior with the talent. It doesn't show in your buffs, so the mod would have to check that you have the talent or that you are Fury spec to indicate it's there.
Heya, First off, cheers for the updates and such. Doing a great job :)
Anyway the communion buff doesn't seem to work properly (as far as I can tell), that's the talent that makes paladin auras give 3% more raidwide dmg. As far as I can tell with my limited lua knowledge the problem is that it tries to look for a specific buff though it's only triggered from having the talent and any aura up.
Cheers.
With r230, when I have Arcane Brilliance up, it detects it under the Mana category now, but it still shows it as not up under the Spell Power category.
Thanks! Will get those put in shortly ;)
As for the problems with some details poking out of the bottom of the box... I'm still inclined to think it's a bug in AceGUI. Reload UI and click the same thing again, it'll work perfectly. It's only after AceGUI has run for a bit that it'll have a problem. But sitll don't know why or when.
I had the same problem when I first converted edited one of the ZOMG old Ace2 menus to AceGUI. All of them ere fine, except for 1 which just went off the bottom of the screen. And this was from an .options table entirely converted to AceGUI by it's config builder.
Shouldn't matter for Blood Frenzy. Because we're using the same spell ID for both spells, it's setup as a mutliple internally, so when one triggers the other effect will automatically be applied as well.
Things that I've confimed don't work so far in r228, along with the actual spellID that gets applied (from logs):
Ok, I'm going to try to get each of the buffs/debuffs tested, over the course of a few raids with some logging, and then a bit of solo work with alts, it should be possible. (Probably not the hunter pets though) I'll post the ones that don't work along with the actual spellID of the aura that was being applied.
There's still an issue when left-clicking on some icons for details. For example if you click on the Healing Taken debuff, the problem is the text is too long and goes outside of the actual box, instead of being contained in the intended scroll area
Yeah ywfn. Just note the spell ID for each really. Then I can track down those, plus likely rank different ones etc. Lot to go through now it's using Spell IDs so rigidly.
Will fix the other error. Is in the sort bit to show who can do what, but never gets called when I'm solo... grr
Raiding tonight, I noticed that probably about half of the buffs/debuffs are no longer working. What's the best way to go about fixing/reporting all of these? I have logs from the raid as far as what spellID's were applied as auras and all.
Also, noticed some issues with left-clicking on some of the icons (to bring up details). If you bring up Healing Taken (just one example), the scrolling doesn't work properly. Also, I was getting errors when clicking on the icons while in combat: Utopia_Details\details.lua:543:attempt to index global 'classes' (a nil value)
