A: Make sure that you do not have "Show only my entries" checked. You and your guild members must also enable sharing of their lists with the guild.
A: You can either send them to me with a license disclaimer that allows the distribution/packaging with vanaskos (if you own the rights) or You can add your own sounds by modifying WoW/Interface/AddOns/VanasKoS/modules/Notifier.lua The list of sounds is at the top of that file. Just put your extra sound files somewhere inside the WoW directory. VanasKoS uses LibSharedMedia-3.0 so it also has access to any other addon's sounds."
A: Fine, Thanks! It doesn't right now.
Q: I see weird messages in my Chat Window on the Channel CrbZ????, What's up with that?
A: It's not normally supposed to be visible. But you can disable the displaying of that channel in the settings for the chat window. Just uncheck it there.
Q: My channel-numbers are all screwed up

A: Write me a PM with your idea and experience - I'll review the idea and if it's finished include it in vanaskos, or if you want to develop more add you as a co-author.
Q: How much do you make with this addon?
A: Near to nothing - My (Vanas) payment/hour for VanasKoS is less than 10cents, don't worry though - it's a hobby for the authors, so the revenue isn't a factor for development, but it also means that the real-life job is more important, so bear with us when answers/development take a little longer.
Q: Vana...Vana.. I seem to remember this name from Lineage2
A: You are right, I worked on a popular (and the first) lineage2 drop-database back then.

I am trying to download the 4.01 beta because my VanasKoS seems to have disappeared since the patch. And I just can't... If I clic to "Mirrors below", it doesn't take me anywhere and the automatic install installs the 3.16 version.
the manual install downloads the 4.01 beta but the install guide directs me to a page "removed by the moderators".
Yes, maybe it was. I did install it manually anyway. It works quite fine but sometimes, it gives problems at the end of a PvP. When I win (don't know when I lose, didn't try it since the new version - lol), I get an error message.
The win is registered in the KoS/friend window. so this part is okay.
My guess is, that there is some bug when it tries to register the win on the map because I can't see it there. I mean: I can see in the VanasKoS menu that I have won at this place against dude X or Y, but I can't see it on the map. So maybe there is an issue there?
I am on Mac OS. It can be a problem in relation to that?
Anyway. Your program is great.
May I suggest one thing: Try to put some "donate" button somewhere in the program or in the window with a link to your PayPal. I am sure I am not the only one who only think about donate when I see the button here in curse but forget all about it otherwise. This way, we will be reminded about it more often and you'll have more possibilities to get some money for the great work you do.

Any ETA though ? - and can i be of any assistance?
//Rejoice
Seams like there are no options to try and configure it, and even after 1 hour it still havent syncronized the guild KOS.
Whats the point of a Guild KOS list if it isnt available for the entire guild?
Remove the feature untill its actually implemented :(
Rejoice
There's no ETA yet as xilcoy is currently working on a communication library to replace the old one - when it's finished the synchronsation based on channels-groups or sth. other will be implemented.
For 3.X versions there is a separate project for fubar http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/fu-bar_vanas-ko-sfu.aspx
For 4.0 use a databroker displayer instead. titanpanel, fortress, & broker2fubar are some examlpes
Where's the furbar addon? I installed the kanaskos and expect and addon in furbar or on my fubar bars... Can't find it in the furbar options.
Am I missing something?
@reehay: The "Show only my entries" option is in a drop-down window, when you click the "show" button near the top of the VanasKoS - Lists main window.
@xilcoy: Right: My Plan is to either remove the global channel completly or only use the global channel for commication (and use /w for data transmission)... I haven't decided yet which approach is better ;)
awesome.. that clears alot up..
one question tho: searching through the configuration window in version v3.16, i cant find the "Show only my entries" option you mentioned. could you clarify under what heading that option appears? maybe its worded differently?
thanks again to you and Vana.
Since ya'll are not in a guild r378 alpha may not be right for you if. It currently only has support for guild synchronization. The last revision before the switch to ace3 was r276 on November 19th, 2008. Any version previous to it should have the old-style synchronization.
One thing your friends can check is to make sure that "Show only my entries" is not checked. That through me once.
If you do move make the move up to r378, make a backup copy of your WTF (specifically WTF/Account/<Your Account Name>/SavedVariables/VanasKoS.lua), and move or delete the old version of VanasKoS. Your lists will automatically be upgraded to the new format. If you decide to drop back to 3.X you'll have to restore the backup copy of the saved variables to see your lists again.
I can only assume the synchronizer works the same way now as it used too. But basically when you log into the game you broadcast your lists to your guild. And then once every hour while logged on. Individual player synchronization was more complicated. It would keep track of the last sync time of each player. If the last time was over 6 hours ago. It would try to synchronize entries with that player every couple of minutes, until it succeeded. I only learned how it worked after reading through the code, and I'm still not 100% certain. Vana's goal in 4.0 is to make the process simpler and easier to understand. Assuming he gets some time to work on it.
Ok now the wanted list (only in 3.X for now). It is for when you when you want to receive notification of somebody in your KoS from other players using VanasKoS. It does not change notifications of when you see somebody in your own list. So when you mark somebody in your list as wanted, it signals to other players you even want to know if *they* see that player. If somebody sees your wanted enemy, that player notifies you of the position. You will also send a message to other players when you see somebody in their wanted list. There are three sources and destinations these wanted lists can be sent to or received from. The global VanasKoSAceComm channel, the local AceComm zone channel, and guild.
I hope Vana and I can spend some more time getting these 3.X features back into 4.0, but it needs some simplification and/or documentation.
@Xilcoy: thanks so much for your reply... after re-reading my post i felt a little guilty for barraging you with so many questions hehe. please take it as a compliment as we are very excited about making VanasKOS a main part of our Warcraft experience.
right now... my friends and I (4 of us) are NOT in a guild and rely on the auto-sync function for our KOS lists... for some reason 2 of the 4 players do not receive any lists. i can confirm we all have the send and receive lists enabled. do you think r378 alpha would work for us? if so, should we delete our cache, wdb, wtf, interface folders before moving to r378?
and lastly, can you clarify a few more things: does the once-per-hour sync'ing occur repeatedly after logging online? or does it occur just once within the first hour online thus requiring relogging to receive updated lists? also.. when you say the "wanted" list is for those players you wish to receive a "notification" when you see them - does this mean the players on the KOS list will not trigger a notification? only the sound alert?
again.. thank you x1000 for your work on VanasKOS!
@reehay: The auto-sync occurs once an hour when using v3.16. And you have to be sure to enable the lists you wish to send and receive. "lookup in VanasKoS" is supposed to return whether or not the player is in one of your lists. I only add enemies to my kos list. I add friendly players who I don't want to party with to my hate list. I use nicelist for the rare occasion an enemy player is well, nice. Or sometimes just to add a note for friend. The wanted list in 3.16 is part of the distributed tracking module. It is the list of players others have marked as "wanted" and you will send notification for if you see.
