World Map point of interest removal
This addon removes quest points of interest from the world map, the numbered circles that show the location of local quests, as well as quest turn in question marks.
Why would anyone want this? For myself I wanted a challenge not being directed where I should go for my quests. It forces me to explore and read quest text in order to be able to find where I need to be.
It may also be useful as a tool for Roleplayers who also wan't the ability to explore the world without being shown where to go.
Points of interest are only disabled when addon is loaded, and reappear once disabled.
Have you found a way to remove the blue highlighted areas in the map yet? Maybe legion has introduced something?
My addon pack hasn't been ok'd yet I'll just paste the text here from the description explaining what i do for a 'classic' questing experience.

I realise this is an old add-on, but this does not remove the numbered dots on the map. They are still there. And when you move your mouse over them, the blue areas show again. I've unchecked all the quests, and the automatic quest tracker toggle option doesn't exist anymore. (nor does the 'objectives' tab in the interface menu) The other add-ons you listed work as expected so far. So I'd hope this problem could be resolved.
Nice! Though, could you make it so that it hides the area marking as well?

So my plan with this was to get a how - to to remove quest tracking entirely along with a few other addons I found to get a more 'vanilla' questing experience.
But basically to be rid of those, disable quest tracking. Interface, Objectives, uncheck Automatic Quest Tracking. Right click each quest on blizzard's quest tracker under the map, stop tracking. Mini map quest area can be disabled by clicking on the magnifying glass on the mini map and unticking Track Quest POIs. They will pop up briefly when mousing over, So I suggest minimizing the quest part or running your map in full screen mode and using a separate quest log addon.
Best I can do for you now.
