World Quest Assistant
WQA helps you find world quest groups quickly and easily.
With just a couple of clicks, you can easily find and join a group, or create your own. When you are in proximity of a world quest, WQA will offer to find or create a group for you. One click of the button finds all open groups and another click will start applying to join them. Or, you can create your own group with a single click.
Key features:
- One-click support to find a group, create a new group, or join existing groups
- Keybinding support for full automation - just set the bind and then tap it to find or apply to groups, accept a group invite, create a new group, or leave a group after quest completion.
- Allows you to create a new group on demand - no waiting for group finder timeouts. Open up your quest to others without having to wait for a server jump.
- Allows you to prefer to connect to groups on your home realm, completely avoiding server jumps.
- Can leave groups automatically after a configurable delay on quest completion, or stay in the group with a keybind you set.
- Can find groups for quests by middle-clicking their icons on the map. Handy when you're sitting around waiting for that mob to spawn! Works with both the base UI and World Quest Tracker.
Yeah, I noticed that too. This addon doesn't work with World Quest Tracker (no buttons), so I went back to WQGF.
TY for the update! works perfect now!
Can anyone briefly explain why this addon is better than the very popular WQGF? Seems like it's basically the same thing to me, why should I switch?
I created it last week after the WQGF author said that WQGF was dead, and before it was fixed. Since WQGF isn't dead anymore, it's still perfectly workable, and WQA exists as an alternative. Both add-ons will join each others' groups seamlessly, so it's really just a difference in UI/options.
Personally, I like its workflow better than WQGF, but I may be biased. :-)
I didn't realize you were the same guy that makes Chatter-- I've been using it for like 10 years! I'll switch tonight. :)
does this addon support world bosses?
Yes.
Is this broken? Keeps saying "there are no groups, do you want to start a new one?" but if I search manually there are lots of groups...
If you have 'Join PVP' off it will filter all those groups, and it will filter any groups that are full - it's only going to find groups with an open slot that match your PVE/PVP server preferences. It's also going to look for groups for which the group name matches the quest name, so if people are manually creating groups which include a mob name or whatnot, it may not match those. When you search, there should be a message in the chat frame saying how many groups were found total, and how many were found to be open. It should only ask you to start a new group if there are no open groups available.
Is it possible to get a prefer PvE option? So it will join PvE groups first, and only join PvP if no PvE groups exist or accept your join request? That would be nifty.
Similarly, I'd love to see a prefer 2+ members option. So it prioritizes joining groups with at least 2 other members first.
And then finally, a prefer 6+ members option for Danger and world boss raid WQs. There are always like 10 groups of 1-2 people for these quests and you want to join a large one.
Adding these three options would address some of my minor annoyances with WQGF and probably get me to switch over.
Sure, "Prefer PVE" is workable. WQA already prefers groups with a) the largest number of members that b) have an open slot, so you should often be applied to larger groups first. This applies to both 5-man and raid quests - it will prefer the largest existing groups.
I'll need to provide options to set sorting priorities, since it'll be up to the user whether they prefer PVE groups or large groups more (for example), but I've been thinking this would be necessary soon anyhow, so expect that soon.
What I would personally like is something like this priority. So it only joins PvP groups/raids if the PvE ones are empty.
1) Largest possible PvE group or Largest possible PvE raid
2) PvE groups with >=2 members or PvE raids with >=6 members
3) Largest possible PvP group >=2 members or raid >=6 members
4) PvE group or PvE raid, even if only 1 other member
5) Make a new group
More options are always good, but I think most of us carebears would be happy with that priority.
That's a good default, I'd agree.
But it wasn't off. It just doesn't join anything.
Couple of feature requests: Ability to kick people based on distance from you. A timer for people on flying mounts and option to kick if they stay on them beyond a certain amount of time.
I'm a little hesitant to add these because they have to be really right or else they could become really frustrating. The mounted thing in particular is iffy, because of things like the Legionfall buff which lets you interact while mounted, or druids in general (who can interact with quest items in flight form; many WQs are completable by druids without ever leaving flight form!)
The distance kick is less of an issue now that Blizzard protected group join functionality, because addons like ServerHop can't automatically cycle people through groups anymore. I know that WQGF has the feature, but I'm waiting to see if it's actually a problem anymore before adding it as a feature.
This addon seems cool though it lags the regroup feature - like world quest group finder haves
Does this work with TomTom? Currently, WQGF causes an issue that does not allow you to CTRL click the quest for navigation arrow.
There's no navigation functionality built in - I use World Quest Tracker for that. In general, I consider this addon to be useful once you've already arrived at the WQ. :)
I can look at TomTom integration if there's enough support, though.
This addon prevents me from using Focusing Crystal. The one mages uses in their Class Hall to complete a free world quest.
