X-Perl UnitFrames
Patch 6.0.3 compatibility and future of X-Perl
Use latest alpha from WoWAce for using in Patch 6.0.3
http://www.wowace.com/addons/xperl/files/
May still has problems but for most cases it should be working(at least was tested on beta), if not, clearing old setting by killing(and backup) XPerlxxxxxxx.lua in the WTF directory of your WoW installlation and try again with fresh new default setting, thanks your patience.
If still someone want to help Zeksie for he earns his donates from X-Perl then that's fine for Zek and X-Perl, but seems like it's time to cut him out as no one want to help X-Perl anymore (as many of users already heard about the mess of this poor addon), I guess.
I don't know X-Perl will still be continue or not(it's highly possible it won't be, as the new maintainer Resike continued the developing and forked to Z-Perl, and he said he won't abandon his addons), I won't force everyone should must to use Resike's one at this point, as his Z-Perl isn't stable yet, and for some reasons, I don't think he want to port his fixes back to X-Perl as he knows about how Zek did about his addons and everyone who helped Zek to maintaining this poor addon...and, of course...X-Perl may broken again when next time Blizzard's patches released..... /sigh
(At this point, I won't force everyone who used X-Perl to go Z-Perl until it's more stable than now, feel free to use Z-Perl or other Unitframe addons if you want, and do NOT hold your breathe about X-Perl too much, too. I already lost my hope on X-Perl, at least I can trust Resike and Z-Perl now...)
Sincerely,
PlayerLin - Maintainer of X-Perl but not a proper skilled coder, just a locale translator and do some shitty PRs. :(
Bug Reporting
Please use the Ticketing System on WoWAce Here and avoid posting bugs using comments on Curse because they're difficult to track and they will probably get lost.
Use a good error catcher (like BugSack from files.wowace.com) and provide the full error text, and give as much information as possible to recreate the problem. Don't assume We know what you're talking about with some three word report.
Introduction
Perl, with Extra stuff. Much enchanced from Nymbia's Perl UnitFrames, and a complete replacement for Blizzard's default unit frames, including raid frames and raid tools, with little remaining of the original Nymbia code.
- Range Finder (combined with optional health check and/or debuff check) for all frames based on spell or item range test.
- HoT Monitor will highlight units clearly that have ''your own'' active Heal over Time spells. Regardless of how many other heal over time buffs are on the raid members, you can keep track of your own ones and when they expire.
- Debuff Highlighting in standard debuff colours on all friendly frames. Priority given to show debuffs that ''you'' can cure first.
- Raid Frames, buff icons, MT list units and some other portions or X-Perl are Created on demand. Saving a lot of time and memory at system startup. Defering the creation of many parts of X-Perl to when they are actually required. And of course, most often outside of raids they are never required and are never created.
- Raid Target icon support for Target, Target's Target, MT Targets.
- Raid Tooltip will show combat rezzers available (druids with Rebirth ready (or very soon available) and any normal rezzers out of combat) if you bring up tooltip of a dead person.
- In-combat indicators for all units.
- 3D Portraits for player, pet, target, focus, party. Optional. Of course this may degrade your framerate somewhat because you are displaying more 3D character models that without this option. But some like it pretty, and it does look cool.
- Red and Green combat flashes for frames when player, pet, target, party, partypets, raid take damage/heals. Useful indication of things happening.
- Added '''time left''' on party member/target buffs/debuffs when in a raid, these depend somewhat on CTRA sending appropriate information over the addon channel, although some of it can be determined at run time by X-Perl, when a player gets a buff for example, we know how long it should last, and therefor when it should expire.
- Totally new options window including all X-Perl options and access via minimap icon and the /xperl splash command.
- Configurable colours for borders and backgrounds. Including class coloured names, and configurable reaction colours.
Much care has been taken with code size, memory load, memory usage per cycle and so on. LuaProfiler/OnEvent mods used extensively and regularly to ensure that X-Perl does not do more work than is absolutely necessary.
Assists View
Will show anyone from raid assising you with your target, and can also show healers or all plus known enemies targetting you.
Tooltips for the same also available (on player and target frames) if you prefer to not use the main window.
MT Targets
Replaces CTRA MT Targets window, and doubles as a replacement for the Perl RaidFrames warrior targets.
Indicator shows which target you are on.
Frames will be coloured to show if tanks have duplicate targets.
Casting Monitor
(WORK IN PROGRESS)
Shows selected classes (defaults to healer classes) in a list (much like the MT List), but with some differences.
Shows mana bars and cast bars on left. Their targets on right. Health bar as normal, but a secondary small red bar on targets which shows the maximum single hit this unit has received since entering combat. The secondary bar will extend downwards from their current HP level down to as far as zero.
A green name on the targets indicates this is the same target that you have. You can click on casters or their targets as expected.
For druids, right clicking on a caster will cast Innervate on them.
For shamans, right clicking on a caster will cast Mana Tide Totem. Check the * indicator to see if they're in your group.
All bars can be re-sized in X-Perl main options (Monitor section).
Totals can be toggled (from the 'T' minibutton at top of frame) which gives overview of raid mana status.
Raid Admin
(WORK IN PROGRESS)
Save/Load raid roster setups Only does direct save and load for the moment, but more to come (templates and such).
Item Check
Replacement for /raitem /radur /raresist /rareg. Use the old commands before, or drop items in the left item list.
Query button will perform /raitem on all ticked items (query always includes dur and resists) and you can then view and review all the results whenever, without having to re-query each item.
Includes everyone in raid, so you don't have to work out who doesn't have items, it'll list them with 0 instead of no entry.
Active Scanner to check raid member's equipment for the item selected. So you can be sure that people actually have the item worn (Onyxia Cloak for example), without having to go round single target inspecting everyone who 'forgot' to install CTRA for the 50th raid in a row.
Grim Reaper
Removed from X-Perl, but continues as it's own standalone Ace mod.

Can be found in my new universal buffing mod, ZOMGBuffs
X-Perl UnitFrames - Error:Interface\AddOns\Xperl\Xperl_Init.lua:689L attempt to call global 'Xperl_NoFadeBars' ( a nil value )
any suggestions?
Make sure you're using r878 from WoWAce(the Project Site) and then try use fresh new setting by killing all xperlxxxxxx.lua files in your WTF directory(do it after exited WoW and you'll lost all current setting for sure), see if helps or not...
heya, it didn't lose all my settings, however it worked again! Thanks :)
i really hope this addon stays, ive tried multiple other unit frame addons like this and its just gah terrible, i cant stand them, x-perl is pretty much 99% perfect where is shows everything i need it to show, other unit frames either dont have the options like x-perl or are to complicated to fix, so please i hope you guys find someone to maintain this addon, it helps out alot greatly!
I already hope long time ago and a lot of times, but always seems it's not that easy to find someone care X-Perl so much and help to fix it and keep do it forever, not that easy because it's frustrating on everything of X-Perl(itself, Blizzard's "I said you should do that on our way" of API/coding changes or annoying users/pure assholes just do useless blame for fun) seems, not everyone who try to help are happy or stick on here always, just quits/disappered/don't care for reasons.
So, I won't be panic or something, just wait and see what will happens next. :p
I would happy to be in the maintainer team, since i use this addon since BC. However when i asked Zeksie to add me to the project he never responded.
I'm sure Zeksie(whoever was owned this username) was totally disappeared after he gave his account to mysticalos, the former X-Perl maintainer before Asixandur, I just don't know if mysticalos was gave the Zeksie's account to Asixandur for adding new maintainer or not(maybe not I guess)...you better ask mysticalos or Asixandur for that I guess... :\
Take over the maintainership? You seems the be the only consistently active maintainer, at least on the surface. What is the WowAce policy on orfaned addons?
I don't know if you know or still remember someone said on WoWAce's X-Perl project page of comment section about me...The problem is I'm not an actual coder can do fixing the code, just a locale maintainer and a helper for code commits if I can do. But I'm not sure now since it's only me as a "consistently active" maintainer...as always...
But I have admit I were abandoned X-Perl temporarily for some months after 5.4 go live...due real-life problems and my lazyness to care WoW... and then I'm back here and see X-Perl lose a capable maintainer again...feel weird.
I'm not sure about policy on orfaned(or orphaned?) addons, since I know mysticalos may have authority about such, maybe ask him or someone who knows about it would be better...
I would like to point out that I like this addon very much, but there always has been this one issue I had with it. Anytime I open the raid members windows (by pressing 'O' and hitting the raid tab) and then let's say, try to set someone as 'Main Tank", I get an error saying "X-Perl has attempted to perform an action only the Blizzard UI is allowed to perform, therefore it should be disabled". This bug really is irritating, I'm hoping that in the new update this will also be fixed. Thanks.
The option needed you're Raid Leader or Raid Assistant to use or it won't works.(Not sure now since I never raiding, and last time I did to use such raid functions was TBC...)
But was got some reports long time ago about it got block by such messages, and still no idea why, rarely see such reports...or you can try only using X-Perl addons(disable every addons but let all X-Perl addons load) and try again...
Or maybe just one of those unfixable problems about SecureTemplate-for-anti-robotization-Bullshit functions by Blizzard due we didn't know how to fix that with proper coding. :(
Bad news: http://www.wowace.com/addons/xperl/?comment=1488
Yes, SHIT HAPPENS again.
Since I don't know if Asixandur will come back or not and fixing X-Perl, guess needed some helps again too... :(
(The r878 still not enough stable so we were not pushed to release, sorry... but I did not expected this happens...*sigh*)
PS: Accepting some code suggests(I can try do some basic tests and push them in)/just commits into SVN but I would like those code commits should tested before give them out, since I'm not skilled LUA/WoW addon coder, and I didn't do PvP, dungeons/raids and Arena/Battleground and Pet battle...yeah, I'm asshole for not playing most on contents and tend like do solo...:p) Just post them on WoWAce comment section or send a ticket if you want help... Appreciate any of helps, but I hope Asixandur won't be give up on WoW and X-Perl....... :|
I'm sorry to hear this =(
I've been using X-Perl since... forever. It was one of the first addons I ever installed, many years ago. I'm disappointed that it has been abandoned, even if only for the time being.
I am using r878 and it is working fine for me. I hope it continues to work, or that the project gets picked back up. Thanks to the project managers for all their work over the years.
Matt
X-Perl already abandoned by the original author : Zeksie, since he quit WoW about late Patch 2.3 or 2.4 then come back on mid/late-3.x for a short time, then totally disappeared and did transfered this project to other maintainers who want helps, but after got raped by Blizzard's mess addon coding/API changes on 4.x and then suffered by Zeksie's "weird" coding on most of his X-Perl core code and some other problems, they just given up......I guess that's why seems nobody want to help to fix all the mess on X-Perl...its codebase isn't really "good to maintaining" according to some former X-Perl maintainers and code submitters and make more frustrations by itself or Blizzard's API/LUA coding limitations...
Yeah, if you ask me, X-Perl should be dead on long time ago, but it still "barely alive" until now..... I just hope it will still alive until WoW dies but I don't know, since I try used other Unitframe addons but feel not right and persist to use X-Perl...
Is it possible that you can add a command to disable the full screen glow effect in game. Someone on wow forums suggested adding SetCVar ("ffxGlow", 0) but I wouldnt know where to add this. Thanks.
I guess that one is use on the config.wtf but you can set it in game, use /console command in chet window.
/console set ffxGlow "0"
But may not set it when you quit WoW and still in 1 when next time you login. Doesn't this option in the WoW client's options section(graphics), something about "glow"??
@Takkero
Well, if no one ever try to help then that's it... :(
R878 works for me, but somehow blocks Shadowed Unit Frames (used it for Boss frames only) completely.
R878 is mostly working, though in addition to the buff wrapping as phantom3113 mentions, DK runes do not work properly and consistently show incorrect information (e.g. runes full when empty, wrong rune types).
r878 working about 90% on mine (have lua errors hidden, so not sure if it's spamming or not). Buff wrapping on unit frames however is not working, and small buffs are not being moved around Big Buffs properly, instead clipping through as though the big ones were normal size.
