This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

Zoom!!! makes your UI load faster by preventing garbage collection during the UI load cycle.

In particular, it fixes bad behavior incurred by Rock addons, but it'll benefit you even if you don't run Rock mods, as well.

In my own UI, this reduced UI reload times from a whopping 93 seconds to 32 seconds, shaving a full minute off of my load time.

Caveats: This won't work if you're on a FAT32 filesystem (Windows 95, Windows ME, badly configured Windows 2000/XP). Also, if you don't run many mods, you likely won't see a huge benefit from this. The more mods you run, the more benefit you should see.

i'm impressed, on my vista 64 system this has cut my times alot, i've never timed it but i'll do it later to see the differance.

Also notice that he said latest librock ALPHAS...alpha being the key word - most people don't update on a frequent enough basis or worse-off, don't even know what a "LibRock" mod is, or which mods have a LibRock dependency.

I *HATE* LibRock, but on the off-chance that any of my other mods suffer the same problems with garbage collection - I'll download this anyhow until the client itself is changed to work in the same manner.

The latest LibRock alphas have been updated to not attempt to collectgarbage anymore.

This reduced my login time from around 70 seconds to around 25. I got at least 3 rock addons. So it really works!

Lua is a managed language, so memory is managed via garbage collection instead of manually freed resources. Many addons force garbage collection after their initial load to make their memory footprints appear smaller, but garbage collection is very slow, and running it many times during the load cycle can slow it down a lot. Zoom delays all explicit garbage collection until the very end of the UI load cycle, because there's not really any benefit to doing it during the middle of the load cycle, and doing in the middle slows it down.

To clarify, the "16 attempts" means that addons made 16 attempts to invoke garbage collection during the loading process, which Zoom hooked and ate rather than letting full GC passes run.

It's mostly just stats for the startup process. The "16 attempts" is the more interesting bit, and lets you know how many GC passes were avoided by running Zoom.

Nice Addon, decreased my "login-time" from 26 to 17 seconds.

9secs doesn´t sound thaaat much (very fast comp) but its around 33%!!!
