ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
With the latest update, it appears that all my bag settings have been lost. Did something happen? My rules are still defined, however my bag settings/groupings are gone. My arkinventory lua file went from 2meg to 900k.
In reply to Rasper1234: depending on what version to were on to what you upgraded to the bank, bags, reputation and currency locations all had their data erased at some point in the alphas. the config should still be there though.
In reply to Arkayenro: I may be explaining my situation poorly. What's odd is that a few days ago things were fine, *something* happened in the last few days that caused this problem.
When I look in my bags now, there are no rules/categories/etc assigned to any bar. From I can tell, only my defined rules survives (although they aren't assigned anywhere).
The only interesting bit that I did in the last few days was to buy a single warband bank slot. The arkinventory addon was disabled when I puchased the warband bank slot.
Is this normal?
In reply to Rasper1234: no. its possible your saved variables file got corrupted if youve lost actual config. you should have a backup, even an old one - you can also try the .bak file to see if thats any good (although it gets overridden every now and then)
In reply to Arkayenro: Thanks. I have older backups of my lua file (because this has happened before), but I think I'll just start fresh and rebuild my bags. I just noticed that I have various rules created from long ago that are conflicting/unneeded due to existing categories. Looks like it's time for a fresh start! Thank you for responding so frequently.
Isolating panels 1 2 and 3 is a cool addition, but could they not be put on the top bar, (maybe in line with the other Refresh, Bag Changer etc, but in the middle) or like a tab at the bottom, I know it sounds lazy, but right-clicking to get to the option is a little "not in your face" so make its a little forgetful.
Can Isolating Panel 1 , 2 or 3, have its own blueprints?. Would be awesome to have Panel 3 Isolated, and have its own rules?
Also noticed when Isolating Panels, the bags do not highlight the items that can go into the Warbank (panel 3)
In reply to Draven006: im making the bank more like the vault. clicking any bank bag will effectively show that panel and hide the others, same for the reagent bank/account bank tabs, that way you dont have to go into any right click menus to swap around
i dont think i can make the panels have their own blueprints though
i have a suggestion for new warband:
when warband warbank is open; holding down modifing key (ie ALT), gives any non-Warbandshareable item a darkening overlay. so it indicates it can not transfered into warbank.
it will be similar to native wow ui, but with a modify hotkey on use
In reply to Morwo: once i have the bank panels sorted out it should do that automatically, like the default ui does
in default UI there is a button to deposit all warbound gear. could u do 1 for your addon?
In reply to cankyy: in the bag changer window on the bank, right click on the account bank bag/tab you want and select deposit all warbank items
In reply to Arkayenro: that is a two-input solution for a native one-input feature
I haven't done too much troubleshooting yet, but I'm going to ask real quick: has anyone else seen where the bank "Restack" is immediately aborting without any action? On Alpha 27 ATM.
In reply to gnoitall: restack is currently not working
I third this idea! Right now i have to disable bags 10-14 right before i'm done depositing my items so i can confirm i didnt accidently stored something on my character bank that i meant to put in my warband bank. It does not help that the "deposit all warband items" doesnt actually work well and a lot of reagents and warband items dont get automatically deposited, most dragonflight meats and fish for example, which i know its a blizzard issue since it happens on the default ui too, but it means i need to manually deposit them, so it would help if i could control what bank things go to when i right click em.
i would also love it if there was a button at the top of the header menu with which i could store all warband items directly. now i always have to take the detour by right-clicking on the respective bag.
In reply to Talmai_SK: its on the bag as it moves the items to that particular tab, if it was anywhere else it wouldnt know which tab to tell the game to put them in
I second this idea! I would love to have the Warband Bank, and maybe even the Reagent Bank in different tabs.
In reply to Anaral: I have to agree. I want certain items available to all my alts. I have no idea how I am supposed to do that.
In reply to Anaral: I also agree. I would like to have 'private' Bank and Warbank side at side in two diffrent windows so that i can move items between the two as i would between inventory and 'private' Bank. Within the Warbank i can apply the usual rules to sort items in the different subcontainers. All Warbank slots together should be treated as a different inventory space like 'all Private Bank Slots' or 'all inventory bags'.
