ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Anyone else having an issue with re-opening the bank after closing it? I cannot seem to get the npc to allow ANY interaction after first opening the bank, then closing it. /console reloadui is the only fix.
It is possible trough command line at the moment. Use my lua in the arkinventory Fans Update project, just replace the existing lua with this one. Go to ? button and there you will find under profile the option to change the default profile to a char specific one

This is what *Blizzard* should have made of the inventory system. Helps me keep my stuff organized! Though there's one thing I really would need, character specific settings. Please tell me if it's possible.
Added the arkinventory Fans update project, Added the lua file for download.

sorry, i didnt realise this site had messages :) i've replied to everyone who sent one
arkayenro,
Check your messages on this site please ;-)
ah, ok, i never moved the mouse when i split a stack.
the reason it's doing it is because every time you move the mouse over an item it puts that items original bag and slot number into a place where blizzards own code can see it, doing that mid stack split obviously causes problems. you'll have to, at a minimum, enter the split value before moving off the stack
i'll see if i can workaround it but it will probably mean recoding the entire way i work with items as the current way doesn't cause tainting (it relies on blizzards own buttons and their code to do everything an item button does)
According to me in version 1.27 there is a stack split bug like fision112 said in his post. Try using the stack split in the followin g way. Shift click on a stack and but the count to split to in the box but be sure to leave the mouse pointer standing on another stack and see how arkinv picks up another item !
Kind regards
the gold display is always for the current character, i dont record how much gold each one has so i can't display it (there are better addons out there for that) . you can disable the whole status frame if you want though.
i havent come across any issues splitting a stack, i do it all the time, do you have the latest version? just that i think one of the older ones did have a bug like that in it.
Oh man just noticed that every bank bag now shows the exact same amount of gold for every character. Any suggestions?
Magikman
Changing from FIRST_AID to FIRSTAID worked perfectly.
THANKS!
Magikman
to use: once your in the game press escape to bring up the menu, click on keybindings, scroll down until you see ArkInventory. now bind the keys you want to use to bring up the Bag, Bank or Keyring windows
if you are getting "CATEGORY_PROFESSION_FIRST_AID" errors, you'll need to edit the DefaultCategories.lua file and replace every instance of CATEGORY_PROFESSION_FIRST_AID with CATEGORY_PROFESSION_FIRSTAID (no underscore between FIRST and AID) that should fix it until i release 1.28
Yeah the first aid error has nothing to do with a the wayfarer's knapsack, never heard of it.
I worked around the problem by commenting out the line that gives the error as the mod didn't work at all after getting it. At first i thought it didn't do any harm, but today i noticed that when i try to split a stack, it picks up completely different stack (always the same) to be split. Maybe these two errors are somehow related?
How is this addon supposed to work? I installed it, but it does nothing (bags still show the old fashion way). I am using TrinityBars, which modifies the interface completely.
Ack disreguard my last post... my priest has a Wayfarer's Knapsack and it displays just fine. My rogue has the problem with the "Translation "CATEGORY_PROFESSION_FIRST_AID" does not exist." message. When I am logged onto the rogue I get the message when I try to open his Bank Inventory and the Inventory window has the name Fred on it...
Magikman
I noticed that I started getting the error mentioned below ("Translation "CATEGORY_PROFESSION_FIRST_AID" does not exist. ") when I got a quest reward that was a new 16 slot bag. Please update the code to include a bag called "Wayfarer's Knapsack"
Thanks,
Magikman
With the newest version i get an error everytime i open inventory: Interface\AddOnd\ArkInventory\ArkInventory.lua:1389: AceLocale(ARKINV) : Translation "CATEGORY_PROFESSION_FIRST_AID" does not exist.
Perfect!
thanks a lot for this great mod. Now the german locale works without errors.
Blizzard bags are replaced. only the bank window will popup in addition to arkinv.
please go on with your great work. i've used nearly all bagmods but yours is simply the best.
greetz argonaut
I too would like to see this addon totally replace the default bank & bag frames.
