ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Hey Arkayenro, sorry to bug you again, but I still can't separate the soul bound equipment into armor and weapons like I was able to do in the old versions. I'm using the most recent beta version.
for armor: type( armor ) and soulbound()
for weapons: type( weapon) and soulbound()
just don't put them on the same bar or they merge. or if you do and you want them broken up then use the sort option 'include category'
Would it be possible to separate your bank and bag, so you dont have to have the same bars in bank and bags? Would be nice to be able to assign a bar in you bank for fire resistance gear for instance, without wasting "black space" in you bag.
main menu>use global settings - disable it. bank, bag and keyrings should then use different setups.
Last 2 updates I lost the weapons and trinkets categories.
great mod thank you but occassionally i am getting blacked out bank and inventory boxes ill try and get you error codes if i possibly can does not happen all the time .i have to log in and out and sometimes 3 or 4 times before all is normal.
see my post below and send me the appropriate layout-cache.txt if you watn to.
the problem is not limited to just my mod, it also affects others
Date: 2007-06-21 11:52:25 ID: 5 Error occured in: Global Count: 1 Message: ..\AddOns\ArkInventory\Locale\deDE.lua line 5:
Error occurs when WoW loads after character selection, German WoW Client Debug: AddOns:non english locale issue should be fixed in the JUN-21-20-30 beta
what happened to include rarity in sort?
rarity sort is still there as far as i can see. want to be more specific?
So is there any way to fix this? I have the same problem. Sometimes the items black out, and I can't use them until I reload the UI, which doesn't always work. I've been forced to go back and use an old bag mod I used to use, but it's worthless. Nothing compares to this, it is by far the best, and thank you for making it, but if you can find a way around the stuff blacking out, I 'd be very thankful. Oh, and I found that it tends to happen more when I auto-open Ark at mailbox, bank, etc, and even though I turned that off, it still happens at mailbox most of the time.
unfortunately no, there isn't a way to fix this until we can figure out exactly *why* it's happening in the first place.
if anyone getting the greyed out buttons wants to send the layout-cache.txt file (the one under World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<accountname>\<server>\<character>) to arkayenro at hot mail dot com then i can try and find something in common.
note: you may need to exit the game, not 100% sure though as just logging out may also work, before sending the file as most files are cached by wow and not saved until a reload/logout.
Okay, I sent you the file. Hope it helps.
not in game. i can only duplicate it if i close wow, change the layout-cache.txt file to alter the framelevel for ARKINV up to 127, then start wow
in which case the workarounds i've added always put it back to normal.
if whatevers pushing the framelevel up to 127 is always there (ie another mod always loaded) then it will eventually get pushed too far up again and the background ends up over the top making AI useless.
bah...I changed the bank bars config ....and then my bags config is changed too :( Is it possible to seperate bank and bags completely?
turn off use global settings (main menu) to make them all different
ArkInventory v2.00 [2007-JUN-17-20-45] (Beta) reports:
"Interface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventory.lua:6460: attempt to index field 'category' (a nil value)
Error occurs when WoW loads after character selection.
Also noticed that this ArkInventory version does not discriminate between Soulbound Equipment and Non-Soulbound Equipment.
When selecting "Rules" in ArkInventory, WoW crashes. This appears to be repeatable.

I've been trying this addon for about two weeks, keeping track of the updates, including the just-posted new beta.
I'm going to have to give this addon a thumbs down (for now). Occasionally, it gets in a mode such that when I open my bag, all tha bag slots are disabled and dark. They can't be clicked or moved or anything. The bag is basically locked. Logging and even restarting WoW doesn't seem to fix.
I use x-perl, metahud, fubar, bongos, etc, which are all very popular and useful addons. If one of these is perhaps the culprit, then perhaps you should try to coordinate with those mod developers and try to get to the bottom of this situation. As is, I can't continue to use this mod.
It's a shame because the idea and the overall design is fantastic. I WANT TO BELIEVE!!!
