Cartographer 3.0
This is a map addon for World of Warcraft that replaces the map and offers shiny features.
The idea is for it to work very much like Google Maps, only in-game.
Cartographer 3.0 is brand new, "experimental" version of Cartographer.

Cartographer uses the minimap graphics actually used by the minimap in game. Therefore, you can only do a detail zoom of one continent at a time.
So, to repost:
So, if you're in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and outlands will not zoom in properly. If you're in outlands, EK and Kalimdor will not zoom in, and if you're in EK, Kalimdor and outlands will not zoom in.
Wow, they have really shifted the landmass around, the stockade poi is way of now - perhaps that is why its taking him a while to fix this :)
To fix the bitmap zoom, go to
http://www.hornbostel.com/texturedata.lua
Replace the texturedata.lua file that you'll find in the cartographer3 directory with this one.
For the LUA savvy, here's what I did:
1. I downloaded the LUA compiler.
2. I used MPQ editor from http://www.zezula.net/mpq.html to extract "md5translate.trs" from common.mpq/textures/minimap
3. I put both
"world.lua" from C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\Cartographer3\Scripts
and
the extracted md5translate.trs in the same directory (in my case, i just put them in the lua compiler's directory)
4. I typed:
lua5.1 world.lua > output.txt
5. I opened output.txt and copied everything from the line that started with "Azeroth = " onwards.
6. I opened texturedata.lua in C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\Cartographer3 and pasted over everything from "Azeroth =" onwards.
7. profit.
If you are able to follow these steps, you should be able to keep the app working if a new change is released that breaks the code.
I noticed the same issue, so I looked into it. The game doesn't load those detailed bitmaps until you are actually IN the respective continent. So, if you're in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and outlands will not zoom in properly. If you're in outlands, EK and Kalimdor will not zoom in, and if you're in EK, Kalimdor and outlands will not zoom in.
I wanted to say I really do like your new version of cartographer. I have sold my friends and guild mates on it as well. We all look forward to your continued work.
I know that generating all these maps must be a huge task. I do not know if this site will be on any assistance to you but I wanted to make you aware of it. It has full maps down to mini-map level.

Thank you again
It was hit hard by the patch. Many of those problems are fixed; but, a few others, I hope, will be fixed soon.
If you don't like it right now, with the issues, I encourage you to try it again when it's at 100%.
Thanks, CK, for a great addon.
thx for the good work and am enjoying your "experiment"
After how long?
It's been like 2 weeks since the 3.0.2 patch came out, and 4 days since the last Cartographer update.
Are you ignoring your fanbase? It is kind of hard to ignore the amount of complaints your getting even on this website, almost all comments are of people having problems with Cartographer 3.0.
I would love to praise this addon, it worked perfectly before the 3.0.2 addon, and it was a treat to use. What I liked most was the zoom function where you could see the detailed map, and it is very unpredictable now, in whether it wishes to show the textures or not.
Rather disappointed about an addon that has a lot of potential.
Have you looked at the number of addons CKKnight makes and supports? And thought about how much time it takes to update them all when Bliz changes their APIs?
CK - good work. Thanks for it. I appreciate your addons and your time.
Stop bitchin' around stuff you can configure... duh!
I think the Old cartographer was much better and easiler to configure.
and please fix the bugg.
