FlagRSP2
FlagRSP2 is an AddOn for World of Warcraft that allows players to add additional information about their characters into the game. It is designed to support role players and allow others with MSP compatible AddOns to easily see if the character is a role player or is even in character. Characters can be fleshed out with additional names, titles, and detailed descriptions.
FlagRSP2 is a continuation of flagRSP 0.5.6 by Flokru. FlagRSP2 is a completely new code base designed to be more efficient and play well with other AddOns. As of 2.5, FlagRSP2 uses the new Mary Sue Protocol to communicate, and no longer uses chat channels.
If your FlagRSP2 copy is OLDER than 1.5.x you should delete the FlagRSP2 directory first!(The Curse Client will do this for you if you use that.) Copy the "flagRSP2" folder into your World of Warcraft AddOns folder. Before selecting your character and entering the game other MSP RP AddOns such as MyRolePlay must be disabled to prevent conflicts.
If you really like this AddOn and would like to help support it, there are a couple of things you can do. You can help by providing clear bug reports that try to accurately describe the problem and screenshots are helpful. Submit your trouble ticket here.

I chose to create FlagRSP2 because I love the simplicity of the original.
I just updated. ^_~
Make sure the option to automatically cut off long descriptions is not selected. Bug information right here is fine. Also my email linked on my website is fine.
Why did you choose to create FlagRSP 2 rather than sticking with MRP? I have had my own issues with MRP, and thus far, I'm really liking FlagRSP 2. I play on Silver Hand, but I have been hoping for an update to come out soon. Will there be one? What are you hoping to have in the next upgrade?
And yes, this one does have its limitations.
That reminds me, I was getting an odd error where words were getting cut off for no apparent reason. Have you had any other complaints about this, and is there anywhere you'd like for us to send you bug information?
Thanks!

Tuhljin, the option to display PvP rank is actually in the coding, I just need to drop the graphical portion into the UI. Next release!(Working on it this weekend, I just got my new computer and RMA'ed hard drive that died.) The additional name option will be fixed as well.
Keira Jher, writing something to import from flagRSP would not be hard, but I have been having the worst time trying to figure out how to access the variables from another AddOn. I know it can be done, but it is kicking me in the ass. =)
(Edit: Show PvP Title UI portion is now there and Additional Name location is fixed as well which will be with other changes and fixes as well. 09/30/06 2:38 PM)
There seems to be a problem with the Additional Name option, "Comes after character name." Whether checked or unchecked, the additional name I give it always appears after my character name.
Azxiana:
Thank you for your response. I am aware, however, of how to RE enter the data manually. However, I have many many toons. I have no interest in cutting and pasting back and forth for all of them, just to update FlagRSP, which is still working beautifully - the only real reason for me to chance is to get back a channel space :)
What would convince me to upgrade to this or the other new toy, MyRoleplay, is if the add-on would either (a) read the existing data file or (b) come with a utility that would import all my FlagRSP data.
Thank you for you time, and good luck! -KJ
Fixed my tooltip issue by myself. But it's really annonying to develop with AFToolTip since there are lot a people who use another tooltip customizer addon.
Would it be possible to add an option/some options allowing you to display the character's PvP Rank (e.g. Knight-Captain) in the tooltip? It'd be nice to display it below the character's name, perhaps alongside the associated icon WoW uses for it (e.g. the Sword with 2 bands behind it). The icon part is unnecessary, and I'd be fine without it; in fact, if you do put the icon in, you could even make that part optional.
Edit 9/27/06: The reason I ask is that the DEFAULT WoW tooltips include this information, but this addon will not display them unless you set it to "light" mode, which is hardly preferential.
Hi !
Actually I'm using TipBuddy and sometimes, there is the blizzard default tooltip that pops in the bottom right screen. Is there any solution to fix it?
Thanks.
Araxto, click at the beginning of the description box to begin entering text.
Laibeous, Friends list is a work in progress. Because of the nature of how interacting with the tooltip works in LUA code, AddOns will never get along when messing with it. This is why the light tooltip mode is there. MonkeyQuest should work in conjuction with FlagRSP2 if it using the LUA's AddLine method for adding quest mob information to the tooltips. This is unfortuneately just a limitation of the Blizzard interface.
Moncader and I have talked about using the same channel. I have no issues with MRP using FlagRSP's channel as long as the two don't conflict with each other. I pointed out that I would not move from the current channel however so I could keep in backwards compatibility with the original flagRSP.
My current status? I am waiting for a new computer to arrive this coming weekend for playing WoW and developing FlagRSP2.
Anyone else that uses this version unable to write in the description box? It seems to just act like another part of the window that lets you move it. I can enter an additional name and title, but not a description. Even tried disabling all other mods, and still no luck.
The problem with the new addon communication is that it is ONLY possible to use it for people who are in your guild/party/raid/BG group. There is still no global way to send addon messages (to other people) without channels that I'm aware of.
choosing between MRP and flagRSP2 and noticing that there are more flagRSP users than the other, I decided to use flagRSP 2 but there are some disadvantages compared to flagRSP 0.5.6.
1) RP options like fulltime is not available anymore in flagRSP2; 2) No friendlist which is useful for flagRSP... 3) The tooltip of flagRSP2 is stopping other addons from editing the tooltip... like "Quest: 1/10 (I think its MonkeyQuest)", but I don't want to switch to the normal tooltip... in flagRSP 0.5.2, it works fine. 4) The flagRSP2 tooltip is duplicating the guild tag/name in the tooltip
And finally, can both developers of flagRSP and MRP decide to use one channel only? We have a very limited channel for addon communications ;) it'll be better to have the same channel for both "the same" addon (in terms of functionality).
If flagRSP2's plan to support MRP will force it to read MRP's channel, then I'd rather not see that support, as many of us have no more channel to spare.
Thank you and hope it helps for further improvement. Sadly, I'll have to use flagRSP 0.5.6 for now since I need the other RP options and the friendlist.
^_^
Regards and hope to see more enhancements and improvements.
Good Job!
First up... Good job :) I like the look and feel of this mood alot, and the tooltip is realy good.
However... I would like to know if the "Friendlist" from the old FlagRSP mod is comming back too? It was realy cool how you could have both enemies and friends on you list, and see there descriptions change "on the fly".
Keira Jher: Copy and paste your descriptions from flagRSP 0.5.x into a text editor then paste them into FlagRSP2 when it is loaded. If you do not select beginner or casual, you will be flagged as a role player. Those are only modifier options to your normal role playing status.
Vekkul: That will be added the description window. I understand people want commands and that is something I will have to work on. Look up!
Hello!
I'd love to use FlagRSP2, except for two things:
(1) I do not want to have to redo all my FlagRSP descriptions, and (2) I noticed that you may only choose "beginner" or "casual" roleplayer. I'd like the option for "fulltime" as that is what I do.
Is anyone aware of a way to import the descriptions from FlagRSP into FlagRSP2? I tried leaving the files in the Add-on directory, merely disabling them via the Add-on page in WoW. I also did NOT disable the friendlist portion of FlagRSP. But, alas, nothing was populated upon opening FlagRSP2.
Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions or just, "sorry, you're out of luck dear" :)
Cheers! -KJ
I like the addon a lot, the colors are a nice touch, but the Character Description doesn't show someone's Flag or their IC/OOC status. I see it's missing commands at the moment, too.
I see a lot of potential, just looking forward to more getting added onto it.
Read up a few comments about commands.
Look for the minimap scroll icon for settings.
Am I missing something. Does this addon have any commands. How do I configure, and make changes.
FlagRSP2 uses the traditional flagRSP 0.5.x channel, xtensionxtooltip2. There are some other mods that use this channel as well, such as FOAD.
