This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.
A highly configurable in-game layout creation tool for Grid.
Main Features:
Group filters which allow you to create groups by Role (Tank, Melee, Healer, Ranged), Raid Group, Name Lists, Out of Zone and/or Offline, and Guild, as well as a catch-all filter (Everyone). You can allow repetitions, or have players appear only in the first group for which they match the filter.
Sorting within groups by Name, Raid Index, Class, or Role. You can also choose to have yourself appear at the beginning or your group, or even to manually specify names that you wish to appear first if present.
Pet group class filters that allow you to see pets only for the classes you want.
Colored group borders that tell you what type of group you are looking at (the colors can be customized).
Layouts you create are saved and can be assigned within the GridLayout options to be the default for whichever party type you want (e.g. solo, group, raid10, raid25).
Roles are determined using both player talent spec and also Blizzard role information. You may choose to give priority to Blizzard information, in which case talents are only used to disambiguate for classes that have both a melee and a ranged damage spec (i.e. shamans and druids).
Quickly change layouts by left clicking the Grid icon on the minimap. This feature is off by default. A checkbox to turn on this option appears in the Grid configuration UI, next to the option to enable the minimap icon.
Limitations:
When using role filters, a default role based on class will be assigned until the module can inspect the unit or Blizzard role data becomes available.
Zone information is not available in 5-man parties, so the out-of-zone filter will not be used.
The flexibility comes at a cost: group composition cannot be updated in combat. Generally speaking, all that this means is that you may not want to use this module in Battlegrounds, where raid composition could change in combat and you could have brief periods where you are missing newly added players. In PvE you would have to try really hard to make this an issue.
Hey folks. I haven't released for 5.0 yet because I'm waiting on an update to two libraries that this addon depends on, LibTalentQuery and LibGroupTalents.
As soon as the libraries are out of alpha, I'll check and release an update. The maintainer also maintains other addons that he probably considers a higher priority, I do hope that it will be up and fixed well before Panda release.
I'll get on this in the next couple of days. The addon depends on a library that is still in alpha for 5.0, but I'll try to find out how close the author is to releasing. In the meantime I'll make sure I've made any needed changes in my own code.
I just installed this with Grid and I'm trying to get the layout (horizontally- which I have achieved,) to display tank, melee, healer and ranged in 5 mans. I selected role and clicked the boxes in that order, but when I click save, the order string disappears in the options and there's no order. How do I do this?
I'm sure you know this, but I'll say it just in case. When you create the order string and click save, the string inside the edit box disappears, but a (less noticeable) copy of the order appears as text outside of the edit box. If that is happening, then it should be working fine. If that is not happening, then please do create a bug ticket on the project site in the ticket tab with as much information as you can, so that I can look into this properly.
There is a link to the project site near the top of this page in the right hand of the two short columns below where it says that I am the project manager.
MSaint, I'm having the same problem as galapogosian. The "less noticeable" copy of the order appears inside of the setup, however when I join a raid it just throws everyone in group order like it always does.
In the latest version I have added a check box to change the left click action of the Grid minimap / LDB icon so that it brings up a menu of available layouts. In my own experience, certain fights work better with particular layouts, and I think it was painful to have to go all the way into the configuration UI to change the layout. Now you can change layouts with two clicks.
This option is off by default, because I don't like changing the expected functionality without the user deciding that they want it to change. The checkbox to enable this feature is at the top of the Grid configuration UI, right next to the checkbox for turning on/off the minimap icon.
Just FYI, on Ultraxion (in the Dragon Soul raid instance) everyone will appear out of zone if you have an out of zone group. I believe this is caused by the way the phasing works for the fight, but I probably won't push an update just for this. The easiest thing to do is just remove the OOZ group and add it back after. In the GUI this is very quick to do and the result is instantaneous.
Not at all! I must say it's nice when people say thanks. I think a lot of players never focus on what it means that all these addons are free and written in free time, mostly by people with jobs. I don't mean it at all as a complaint. It's our choice, and we are kinda responsible for the dependency we create. But it is nice, so thanks for saying thanks.
I don't experience this lag even in 25 man lfr raids on my laptop (my frame rates in 25s on my laptop are not that great, but I still don't see a big spike when people join and leave).
If you have a slow connection, then this could be the result of addon communication with others that use addons embedding libgrouptalents. There are some inefficiencies in that library's comm usage. Not using it is still worse than using it, though, especially if you run any other addons that also use it, since it prevents each addon from doing redundant inspections, which is an even bigger hit to your bandwidth.
Hey folks. I have tagged a new beta, and this should fix issues with long prefixes in LibGroupTalents.
I have looked at the tickets for that library and also at the code. It looks like there are indeed issues with spikes of communication whenever party members join or leave or the UI is reloaded or certain other raid changes are made. Looking at the code, I can see why. I can't fix an external library though.
I will try to contact the maintainer of LibGroupTalents, and otherwise I will look at other options for working around this problem.
Sorry for the long delay in answering, I have been on vacation.
I will try to look into this, but catching up on work will take priority. I will have much more time next month, so there is a good chance I won't track down what is happening until then. Likely this and Grid are duplicating updates, which are already triggered in batches. I think in the last alpha I added in an update delay to prevent multiple updates in a short period, but that was a while ago and I will have to look to see if I already implemented that or not. I know I was looking at it, just don't remember if I got to it or not.

Awesome, I really appreciate you taking time to update it =)
An update would be great - can't heal without it!!!
Any chance to get an update for patch 5.0.4 ;)?
Ill second that

Ok, I'm travelling at the moment, but I'll find the problem and fix it by sometime next week. Thanks for the confirmation.
Thanks a lot for this addon! It's everything I needed. Especially love the guild sorting function, handy for when you do BGs with a premade :)

Hello,
This addonn still causes massive lags in 25 raid groups only when a player join/leave the group but thats not a big problem in PvE tho.
P.S. : I forgot to say 'thank you' for the update.
