Prat 3.0
In loving memory of Jon Akthar (Sylvanaar)
Hello WoW community, I'm LuciferCatnip, Sylvanaar was my coworker and my mentor. It goes without saying that Jon was an amazingly talented individual. He always seemed to know everything... but he once said to me "It's not about knowing the answers, it's about asking the right questions", he always challenged me to ask me the right questions until I would arrive at the answer on my own terms. Jon was also a champion of the open source movement, and so with special thanks to Gil from Curseforge as well as Sylvanaar's family, there's no better way to honor Sylvanaar's legacy than to keep his project going strong in the community.
If you'd like to help maintain Prat, please reach out to MysticalOS or LuciferCatnip directly. Thank you so much.
About
Prat-3.0 is a chat enhancement addon for World of Warcraft.
It is made up of 30+ smaller "modules" which each provide additional functionality, and can be enabled or disabled individually.
In game, type /prat for a menu. Or use the icon on one of the many data broker hosts.
Prat has just about every feature you can think of, and then some. Really. When I get some more time, I'll try and put together a full list (Even I have lost count)
(Thanks to Dreamsight for this partial list)
- Sync your chat settings across your account (Beta)
- AI powered spam filter (Beta)
- Change arrows, buttons, mouse scroll for chat scroll, scroll speed
- you can add player color per channel, color per level, color per class
- timestamps (styled)
- whether to show timestamp (what format the timestamp should be in)
- whether to show players level
- you can select the option for channel "stickys" (last channel you used you auto use when hitting enter, that sort of thing – or last thing someone said)
- change the looks of the chat's editbox - as well as where it appears (you can even undock it and move it to where you'd like it to be)
- chat fading, fading delay
- You can change the font to a list of fonts, add an outline to it, monochrome it (if you don’t mind messing with files a bit you could probably even add other fonts to that list)
- change the chat frame/chat box appearance
- Keep chat history between game sessions
- Set channel abbreviations
- set brackets and color(or something instead of brackets)round player/lvl
- alt invite option (press keyboard “alt” button and click on the player’s name to auto inv them)
- raid icon
- invite links - click them to invite the person
- URL copying
- Full chat copying + copy button
- Click timestamp to copy line
- Configurable alerts when your name or other word is mentioned
- enables tell target /tt which whispers your target
- Alias options - make macros into short commands
- See names of players Alt characters
- change chat sounds (incoming and outgoing as well as per channel)
- Achievements info and grats
- Full chat search and search box
- Customizable filters for advanced users
- Show item icon next to item links and player class icon next to player names
- Icon-only options for newcomers chat
- Optional flashing or font color change for chat tabs when a new message comes in.
You can enable/disable all Prat modules - don't have to have the ones you don't use running
While trying to reduce resource utilization, it is also important to note that some people prefer the features, and don't care that an addon uses 500k more.

This is a pasted post from 1 mnth ago I made, It would really be appreciated.
"I'd like to make a suggestion, maybe its something Ive over looked if so please point me in the right direction. I love my current chat addon "chatMOD" but it is no longer being updated. The feature I love about this is the ability for it to automatically add a "Highlight" to the current toon logged in. This feature does the following w/o any "filter" setup. Its essentially the same as custom filters but its automatic per logged in toon. Example say my name is "Noob" it would have an error style popup with the current character's name highlighted and do the same following highlight in chat; >Noob< the highlight would be colored w/ the name in red (I know prat can do this) and the >< brackets are colored in yellow. I know this seems a bit trivial but its the entire reason Ive not migrated to prat. If someone knows a lua string I can use to setup filters I suppose that would work aswell TYIA"
How can you change the background color to black?
Right click on general, then background, then changed opacity
I have just reinstalled all my addons and since then whenever I purchase anything from the AH Iget a really annoying fel nova type sound.
I have checked all the sound options and can find nothing to enable/disable this but when I unload the sounds module it stops.
I really is annoying as I purchase a lot from the AH. Can anyone help?
Like others I am unable to click on anything in the chat window or otherwise interact with it. This affects any clicking functions such as item links, clicking a name to whisper them, invites, etc. I am not using any other chat mods or the mods some of the other posters said are conflicting.
Love this mod, thanks for making it!
I rolled back to the 3.4.24 version and so far it works.
I am having problems with seeing links on chat ever since 4.3 and i can't find any options for it, any fix for this would be greatly appeciated.
I think you'll find that DPS is the name of the channel rather than an identifier of role type.
How to setup players by their party role as in the seen screenshot?
When are we finally getting the feature to hide the "Channel" name bars when the chat is not shown, or is there already some short of method to do so?
Is there way to hide the chat icon that is shown that has the text you can copy? I want it hidde, and accessible from the "left click" menu of specific channel name. That would be welcome modification to the already awesome chat mod. Chatter might look better, but somehow this has better working functionality. Cant remember what the funktionality is tho.
by their role, now I mean the one screenshot that has people as [DPS] in party chat
Since the 4.3 patch, Prat has a tough time doing autocomplete on names in my friends list and in guild, when sending tells. Normally I can type "/send r" and as soon as I type the "r" a box of names starting with "r" pops up, and I can tab/arrow to select the one I want, hit enter and the name is filled into the /send line.
The odd part is that this still works for some guildies, and some friends, but not all guildies or all friends. It's very strange. Not sure what I can do at this point other than request an update for 4.3 :)
Thanks for the great addon!
Yep, had to disable due to the linking issue. This just started for me yesterday. Wonder why :(
Edit: Read on another forums that the issue is actually with Prat and Elvui. Disabling elvui chat fixes the conflict.
Please update
Will Agree with Akanah, Pity, this is my fav addon
Yup. Still broke.
I've been using Prat since BC but recently I've been having a problem with it. When multiple item links are in a single message (for instance, loot announcements in guild raids), only the last item is shown. Additionally, if there is normal text as well as an item link in a message, the message will appear as a blank line.
Both of these problems seem to occur sporadically (not every time). I think the problem got worse when I tried TukUI but remains even when I don't have TukUI installed.
Same here item links dissapear in chatboxes. Making me having to disable this addon cause i can't see what loot is linked in chat.
will there be any update soon because those issues are starting to annoy me and i really like this addon?
thanks in advance!
Hi there! I've been using Prat for years, can't live without it :)
Now I have this *wish*, maybe can already be made and I don't know about it?:
Is it possible to use the smart channel feature, for example typing "/sc hello" and that will say "hello" to my raid, party, based on my current group?
Thanks a lot!
